The Autobots and Decepticons use Prime Masters to wield the incredible powers of the legendary bots who shaped the universe: the Primes. Prime Masters carry the spark of a Prime, allowing them to share a Prime's godlike ability with other bots. How will the fire-loving Terrorcon Cindersaur wield this epic power? Anything is possible and everything is at stake when the Power of the Primes is unleashed!

Hey JZGR, what's wrong with the Terrorcon label? iirc, Apeface and Snapdragon were called Horrorcons. :???:

He can't be called a Firecon anymore sure.

Nothing per se, but G1 Cindersaur was a Firecon and I'd have loved to see that kept. O well, Cindersaur has been pulled into other subgroups in the franchise, like the Prime Predacons.

Remember the AoE Dino Sparkers? Same gimmick, but enclosed inside the plastic shell so the sparks can't set things on fire.

I offered to call him Optimal Primal, as he has the body of OpOp & the colors of Optimus Primal.

Or we could simply call him King Primal, like King Kong. Maybe even Optimal Maximus?

just spitballing here...

Officially the bio on the box is keeping him as Optimal Optimus.

Since Cindersaur is now identified as a Terrorcon, does that mean there is no chance of us getting a Sparkstalker and a Flamefeather?

#RIPFirecons. RhA will be sad.

Cindersaur has been in vogue more than the other two since 2010, thanks to a missing G2 toy no less. How's that for irony?

Quantum Surge wrote:I feel like it was carried over from Slash by mistake, given how Cindersaur is a repaint of that character.

Well, that's just the thing - see my extra note above. The Alpha Trion card that addresses Cindersaur as a 'she' refers to Slash neutrally, meaning that whether or not that's how the cards work, it was intentionally added for Cindersaur's. It seems like an obvious explanation but the more I look into it, the curiouser it becomes!

It could still be a mistake. Perhaps either the two cards were written by different people, one of whom assumed that sharing a mold would mean sharing a gender, or if it was the same writer for both, the Micronus card was written after finding out Cindersaur was male and they simply neglected to go back and change it on the Alpha Trion card.

It Is Him wrote:Cindersaur is gender fluid. It’s official now.

Not necessarily, it could just as eaily be interpreted as a character with different genders depending on the universe/continuity; this has happened before. (Or an error.) Just playing devil's advocate here.

IDW arcee.

I'm pretty sure that forcibly having one's gender altered is nowhere near the same thing as being genderfluid. (Also, when IDW reboots, can we PLEASE go back to female transformers just being there?)

budmaloney wrote:It's just odd to me seeing the Optimal Optimus body in Primal's original scheme.

It was a little odd to me at first too, but I like it. Once you get past the cognitive dissonance, it looks really nice. I certainly prefer it over the Primal Prime that I was expecting.

As much as I agree with this, it's still deeply amusing to see the chaos caused by a simple pair of mismatched pronouns.

Regarding Cindersaur's gender,
The IDW people did a great job giving us actual confirmed cases of non-cis gender TFs, with actual characterisations, proper feelings, the whole gamut. To be frank, this franchise treats LGBT characters much better than other big sci fi properties, even Star Wars despite its numerous attempts to add diversity.

I think it's sad that despite the direction this brand is already going, we still are desperate to take such a obvious mix-up with Slash and latch onto it as evidence of a new LGBT-character. Who would want a lame copywriting mistake as proper representation? Let the story people work things out with nice character drama in a comic or tv episode.

On a side note, the fan-run TF wiki sometimes makes TFs female if no gender pronouns are used in official work. Y'know, because there's still only a small margin of females. How do you feel about that? Wouldn't that be "assuming gender"? I know male=default isn't exactly a good solution, but given the many variations in gender and sexuality in real life and TF fiction, it seems unfair to make such a character automatically female.

It's not about the "change". It's about pushing a damn agenda. It's creeping everywhere and it just remove the fun out of everything. And it's not just the IDW comics. Star Wars is pretty much ruined at this point, as well as Marvel comics.

Going back to FUN things, I do wonder what would some classic characters would look like today if they'd be made female as originally planned in G1? Notably Ratchet and especially Starscream. Seriously, I'd be all over a female Starscream. Keep the exact same character, with the exact same stories, with the exact same personality. That would have been a female character that would have NEVER have been seen in fiction. I have enough of the tiresome cliché of the "strong female that need no man". Give me a cowardly traitorous ass any day.

By the way:

Remember in Animated when Starscream made clones of himself and each one had one aspect of his personality (thus creating the seeker army). One of them was the newly introduced Splitstream, a seeker fembot. Starscream asked her from what part of him did she come from. She simply answered "You don't wanna know". :-?

No seriously, get over it. Society is changing, deal with it or go bury your head in the sand. Either way, your intolerance isn't welcome.

So, simply asking for well written stories that are good and entertaining without forced politics is now considered "personal attacks" and "intolerance". Neat.

Unless you're sticking to the standard Saturday-AM format (and I really hope we don't go back to that) - stories easily become political and\or morality plays. Classics like X-Men, Batman, Superman, ect, when taken under the microscope can see easily identifiable political elements.

What I find confusing is you want "well written stories", but you also want them devoid of anything political (or at least, politics you don't agree with). That's all well and fine, but for the most part - things like politics add variety not only to the characters, but enrich the overall world-building of a comic book. I, personally - find it much more interesting when given the literal thousands of Transformers characters available out there that Hasbro\IDW have the scope to put all sorts of multi-layered characterizations into the storytelling now and it also helps put spotlights on sectors of our [human] society that have, historically, been maligned or ignored. Its place in terms of "childrens" comics and cartoons can actually help confused, scared or lonely youths that may be thinking they're the only ones.

Can you imagine X-Men without its shadowing of gay and equal rights movements or shadows of the halocaust, for example? How about V For Vendetta without the political element? Judge Dredd without the satire on current politics?

And for the record saying "I don't want to put up with x,y,z social demographic I don't like in my comic" is intolerant and some people will take it as a personal attack.

ON TOPIC -

Seems like a weird typo, but maybe they should have called one Cindysaur?

:edit: If it helps, you can take a statement like (not your words, obviously) "I don't like gender queer characters in my toys" and just replaced the marginalized community (gender queer) mentioned with "black people" and then decide for yourself if you think the statement is horrendous or not...

What's funny is I was only planning on getting Primal out of the leader molds. Now I've ended up with Rodicron and Nemesis while I wait for Primal to come out. Black repaints with new headsculpts are apparently my weakness.

I don't mind some politics and some morality messages in media. NO MATTER THE SIDE. Just don't force it. Because in doing so make for bad stories. Especially if the politics take center stage. I'm not alone thinking this. Look at Marvel comics latest sale numbers as best example. The message must flow well within the story, or it just look like a child in her first self-made make-up trying to pass as a full grown lady.

------------
Going back to fun things, I said many times before that the Dinobots didnt interested me and I would never buy them because reasons. Well, here I am, blown away by the Dinobot Team. Seriously, all of these figures have barely any flaws. The use of clear plastics, paint and stickers are incredibly well executed. The dinos are mostly perfect, the bots too, everything is marvelous. However, the combined mode is ackward. The shoulder barely lock and the hips/thighs are just too loose. Plus it's a shame Volcanicus don't have a big-ass sword. I bet some 3P upgrade kit will come soon enough.

Overall, no regrets getting the PotP dinobots, Especially for the overall price tag.
