So basically, Optimus (and presumably Motormaster) can combine with literally any Transformer? That's awesome.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's been tooled especially for prime, allowing for a combination that motormaster can't do.

Out of those pictures I personally like the thunder cracker one, it also makes sense given the story so far.

That crossed my mind too. It was Windcharger's magnetic powers that allowed the combination in the first place, so making him part of the torso just makes sense if you want to recreate/reimagine "The Masquerade." Maybe then Offroad could be repainted/remolded into Ironhide?

Also, I think the conjecture that CW Optimus Prime was remolded from Motormaster is a little off base. It's much more likely they were simply developed concurrently, like Universe 2008 Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. Sideswipe is not a retool of Sunstreaker, nor does it go the other way around. The mold was always designed to be both of them, just using alternate heads and a waste rotation during Transformation (plus switching the fists during assembly) to achieve the different looks. Too much of CW Optimus Prime looks like Optimus Prime, and too much of Motormaster looks like a concession of sharing a mold with Prime compared to his G1 representation, to make me think they started with Motormaster. The intent was always a two-for-one deal with that mold, I'd say.

Or maybe Hound for his illusion powers?

True, it's also possible that when doing the drawings they thought "Hey, they're both trucks, why not make an Optimus out of him?" ;) Another question for the BotCon 2015 Hasbro panel

On the subject of Ultra Prime, I can't help but think he's just standing on top of the two legs in his gestalt form. Seriously, it looks like he's walking on robot stilts! It's too bad they couldn't have hidden the robot mode feet for torso mode (or the robot mode fists sticking out of Prime's "shoulder blades").

Actually at first with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker they were only going to be differentiated by alternative heads then some had the bright idea to rotate the chest :)

An Energon homage?

I guess I'm obligated to get this guy now, huh?

I will say, these images make him look LOADS better. Still not digging a lot of the robot mode, but the combined mode is kickass, especially that combined mode's head sculpt!

The only things I'm not big on are kinda minor, I'd like to see more painted detail in Ultra Prime's chest cavity for one. Seems like he really looks like a 'bot standing on two bots a little bit too unfortunately. His arms look a little bit too kibbly in robot mode, with those parts extending over his wrists. That being said I'd probably willing to overlook those things a bit if his Ion Cannon was big enough to match a voyager sized Optimus! :P

speaking of a Energon Homage i still wait for something for the 10th/ 11th anniversary of Energon, 11th/12th of Armada and the 9th/ 10th of Cybertron.
i like how the torso for Ultra Prime looks but seriously aerial bots plus drag strip for limbs i would better like the idea of characters like Rodimus(Energon), thunder clash, Star saber (for no particular reason), Fire Guts Ginrai(no particular reason) as limbs which in my opinion would make a better Ultra Prime

I was wondering how they might do the rumored leader Ultra Magnus, and Op's combiner head just clinched it for me. The trailer will probably consist of pieces which partsform into the arms and legs (and chest?). It would also make Ultra Magnus compatible with all the Combiner Wars stuff.

yeah I went on the assumption that hasbro are not so batshit crazy as not to release combaticons later down the line.

Wow, he needs to be renamed Beefcake Prime. His torso and arms are just too beefy fore me. I'm not bothered about this Optimus as I'm not interested in the idea of a combining Prime. I have been looking for an upgrade to the Classics Prime and this one won't be ousting him. I think the beefy mould will suit Motormaster a lot better.

I was on the fence about Menasor, mainly because I didn't like the big torso, but now my suspicions are confirmed. You don't have to include Blackjack (or any other Legends car, for that matter) as part of the chest. I much prefer the way it looks with the chest piece closed. Menasor may be back in the running for me! However, having said that the V shape of Thundercracker's jet looks kinda cool, and I do like the amusing idea of an Insecticon chestburster. The options are nice at least, but I'm glad you don't have to have Blackjack in there to complete Menasor, and that his chest piece closes so he won't end up looking like he's been gutted.

To those assuming that Motormaster can also attach any legend. So far we've only seen this feature on Prime, and as Wolfman said it's likely that prime and MM were both created at the same time so maybe for MM it's blackjack only.

That said an ultra Magnus out of this looks increasingly likely, though I'd rather have armour on a minimus ambus figure, then another prime repaint.

ok. my views on optimus:
-those arms in his bot mode are unfortunate. i can look past it, especially since i dont buy combiners to pose em seperately :P
-i REALLY like the torso he makes, chest pieces closed or open.
-what i dont like it how the open chest is barren of paint apps. hopefully takara fills in those spots, because theres some great details in that sculpting.
-the combined head, is phenomenal.

im excited about the two following prospects:
-the recent reveal of him being compatible with (all?) legends figures.
-and picturing him "scramble city'ing" with every other figure yet to come out. with all the possibilities we "could" get... my head is spinning!
