As a word of warning, it's being widely reported across Reddit, TFW, and the TFWiki Discord of there being several copies of the new Legacy Nacelle figure having mold on them.

Not "mold" as in plastic injection, but "mold" as in fungus.

Anyone here who has a copy or will receive one soon should check theirs as soon as possible.

Welp, time to bust out that white vinegar and baking soda.

Update: Four separate reports of this case have also been found on Twitter, too.

I originally thought I got lucky, but once I saw the photo, on further inspection 1 have 3 small spots in the underside of 1 wing that I easily scraped off. Whew. If it would have been as bad as those photos, it would be going back to Amazon.

My guess is poor ventilation and air filtering. A bigger question is what mold it actually is, especially considering it's a possible exotic pathogen. Hopefully Hasbro is on the ball with this one.

Some on Discord have reported coughing and difficulty breathing after handling their Nacelles before they found the mold on their figures.

At this point that could be psychosomatic. I don't want to be dismissive of experiences, but I would also caution against a panic. Some of what I've read so far is breathless in another sense of the word.

Fans Reporting "Fungal Growth" on Amazon Exclusive Nacelle Figure

If you've ordered or recently received the Amazon Exclusive Legacy Evolution Nacelle you may want open it right away. Numerous fans that have him in hand are reporting a "fungal growth" or "mold" on the plastic, particularly on the wings. As you can see in the images below from Watcher Graphics and TheGeek100 along with others chiming in on social media this isn't a minor issue. It's highly recommended that both Amazon and Hasbro customer service are contacted by those that have this issue, however minor your case may be, so they can track issues and investigate them. Thanks to Seibertronian Sabrblade for brining this issue to our Energon Pub forums.

But seriously, this is more disturbing than real life instances of MISP Cosmic Rust infections. We eventually got another MP Megatron, but in MW Starscream's case, it seemed like some some sort of curse the mold suffered for trying to escape Skyquake's GPS.

Not sure how this makes me feel about falling behind on a lot of online exclusives lately. If this is from improper storage somehow related to Amazon's s#itty TF exclusive distribution, maybe this will be the straw that breaks the Carbombian camel's back and gets Hasbro to stop giving them so many.

Here's hoping Nacelle isn't just patient zero in what does turn out to be a toy-demic.

I thought some people had reported the same from Pulse, which hasn't shipped yet in the US, as far as I know. In any event, I would expect it to be upstream of Amazon if it's on the plastic. These are sealed box releases, after all.

None on mine, thankfully. It does make me a rich leery about ordering another one to keep MISB, though.

I can already see the wiki entry in ten years' time: "Nacelle is practically impossible to find sealed, since practically everyone who bought it back when it was released opened the toy as soon as they could because many copies came from the retailer infested with fungi"

In all seriousness that's quite concerning. I'm no toy engineer nor an expert on storing plastic but I'm quite befuddled that this even happened.
Guess I'm glad being grumpy about the darn thing being an Amazon exclusive (and missing out on the Pulse stock) saved me from getting a potentially spore-riddled Nacelle.
Do hope this issue is resolved, though, I do still wish to amass more Seekers...
