Hey all, I'm not sure who's interested in seeing the much awaited (by me, anyway) Kre-O Encyclopedia, but I got mine today. It's pretty cool and I'm liking the Orion Pax exclusive. Thought I'd throw a few pictures your way.

The cover. Sorry it's a little blurry.

Image

The Orion Pax figure. Pretty awesome. He's holding what looks like a datapad.

An explanation of the profiles.

And look! They include the stop motion movies in comic form!

Orion looks pretty good, very G1 cartoon-esque. Didn't realize he came with a prop besides the gun.

I've heard there are a lot of errors in the book, though. Wrong factions, badly done alternate modes, and even missing helmets. Still, definitely going to check it out if I see it in a bookstore.

Ordered mine the other day, I'd forgotten about it. Really just did it for the Kreon, but if I have fun with the book too then that's a bonus!

I was disappointed in the incompleteness of the book as well as some of the errors (such as Inferno being listed as a Predacon instead of an Autobot). No pics of the larger sets, no Kre-o wave 4 or wave 5 Micro Changers, the latest Micro Changer combiners are excluded, etc. I was hoping the book would be a up to date book but it's like it stopped covering products as of last year unfortunately.

Thanks to site owner Seibertron, we now have some in-hand images of the newly released Transformers: Kre-O Character Encyclopedia book! This encyclopedia also comes with a bonus Orion Pax Kreon figure that's armed with a weapon and a previously unknown datapad accessory. The book is filled with character profiles such as Orion Pax himself, as well as comic versions of the stop-motion Kre-O cartoons.

^ Spelling error, I assume, possibly an auto-correct of "Blot." Bombshell's actually Bombshell and not Hardshell, so Blight might've originally had his G1 name there.

All these blatant errors makes it seem rushed, but the fact that it doesn't cover anything recent makes it seem like it got delayed. The new Kreons Misfire and Highbrow have the wrong faction symbols, and Sea Spray's looking that way too (going by his CG art), which all makes you wonder if something happened with the team behind Kre-O or something.

We first learned about this almost a year ago I think... That's more than enough time for publication to go through and double check.
Or their publisher is full of ****... :-? You never know... :D

Nothing happened. "Blight" is still available to use for regular TF ation figures, as it was used for the Prime Beast Hunters Cyberverse Legion toy.

As for why it isn't used here, it's because Construction toys fall into a different category from action figure toys, and so different laws apply to them. While Hasbro could use the name "Blight" for a TF figure, they evidently cannot use it for a Kre-O construction toy due to it not being available for that category.

Likewise, look at the name next to Bolt's: "Bombshell". Notice how that name seems to have falling by the wayside in recent years for the action figure TFs? It's because Hasbro doesn't own that name for the action figure TFs and is why the name "Hardshell" has come into play for all the recent Bombshell toys. However, the name is evidently available for Hasbro to use in their construction toyline since we see it being used here.

Ergo, some names can be used in some places, and some can't.

Sabrblade dear, you do realise the Kreons were released under the Blight and Hardshell names, right? "Blot" and "Bombshell" were indeed their original G1 names and were probably working names as well, but the authors evidently didn't get Hasbro's memo. Plus, "Bolt" is indeed a spelling error (but not to automatic spellcheck)
Aside from that, you are perfectly right about trademark laws working differently in different categories.

Well, thank you, JelZe. Tis hard to keep up with all these Kreons.

I was pretty happy with the book when I got it in hand.
The brevity of pages was disappointing however.

Who knows they may release a volume two for the remaining and future waves. What would be really fun is if they included a section with some of the fans customs with the bits and pieces. Someone even made a metroplex. I'm going to need to Get this to go with my other collector books.
