This little guy has these two slots on his upper surface in alt mode, which end up on his upper shoulders in bot mode. Here's an alt mode pic, it's the opening that's facing the camera right around the middle of the saucer:

It seems to have a specific shape, but I can't tell what it might be for, if anything. I can't get Payload to attach to those slots in any way. I do see that the slot leads all the way down to the shoulder ball joint. Perhaps the slots are necessary for the molding process.

Your thoughts?

Hadn't quite looked at those slots. Good eye. I'll see if I can stumble across a clue or reason for these. However, they could also be necessary for the molding process as you said it, HHR.

So I'm guessing they are simply part of the aesthetic. Couldn't find anything. I gave up easy.
