After enjoying Quickswitch more than I thought, I am so looking forward to this spiky awesome Greatshot, complete with rhino mode. I plan to do a review with all 3 6-changers!

Is Greatshot a general release, or a very nice and expensive exclusive?

He's a LG-EX, but on I think on sites like TFsource it's only a $5 difference

I know he's an Takara "exclusive". I mean as a special Hobby Lobby or some convention or other.

So, Takara have it's own post office then? 8-}

Anyway, I saw the price and I must pass. There's too many important figures on my radar and some things have to be skipped.

He said "mall" not "mail". And yes it's an exclusive in Japan so it's not sold at ami ami or the other usual retailers.

Well shi.... I always thought it was Takara Tommy Mail. As in the mail-away only figures you got with the TF points back in the 1980s.

I'd want it but I'll have to keep my money for a possible MP-03 GreenScream.

It's Tomy not Tommy, strong "O" like Sony. ;) Super common mistake.

TakaraTomy Mall is basically to TakaraTomy what Hasbro Toy Shop is to Hasbro: A website owned by the company that sells their products and can have its own limited exclusives.

Has there ever been a toy that was only ever available at Hasbro Toy Shop?

*Only* at HTS? None. They're usually shared with other stores, I guess to offset the otherwise very limited (too limited to be lucrative) distribution, or it's used as a platform to sell convention overstock.

So then thats very different from TTMall. They had a ton of exclusives which were only available there in Japan. Like half the Unite Warriors line.

Actually, there have been HTS Exclusives, but in both cases it was figures that were intended to be sold somewhere else and got canceled after production so HTS sold them instead.

Canceled TRU Commemorative Series Astrotrain (on the left, the right is an Asian release from many years later)

Canceled Asia exclusive "Special Edition" SE-01 Opitmus Prime, SE-02 Megatron, SE-03 Dragstrip, and SE-04 Overkill

Definitely doesn't compare to TTM, though.

Still thanks to users in the Hobbymizer Facebook group, much like the previous story we posted on the topic here, we have some further in-hand images of the recently released Takara Tomy Transformers Legends LG-EX Grand Maximus set, including Grand, the sword accessory, and decals and stickers.

Thanks to Oscar Fung, Ip Kei Tsun, and Chan Wei Choy Mario, we have images of the set by itself, the box, packaging, and - most interestingly - comparisons with the original toy from the late 1980s. Check them all out below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub!

Video Review for Takara Transformers Legends LG65 Twin Twist & LG66 Topspin with Comparisons

Fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg1999 has some nice new reviews for us. His latest video review features LG65 Twin Twist & LG66 Topspin and their Target Masters as they are being compared to their Hasbro counterparts. As far as we know, these are the last toys to have differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions, for now. And the differences are not just the paint apps, but also the inclusion of Target Masters, and the loss of other accessories.
Due to Hasbro's Twin Twist being very hard to come by for many Americans, going the Takara route for this toy is being considered more than usual so hopefuly this review helps you choose which version to get.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Topspin and Twintwist are made from arguably the best mold from the Titans Return/Legends line. The Legends version give a more classic paint scheme while adding the bonus of Targetmasters. While there's nothing overly new to recommend the Takara version over the Hasbro releases if you like what you see they're a solid pick up.

TR Twin Twist never turned up near my realm. What a burn. Still no sign of the Wave2 PotP figures either - even though there have been dozens of sightings everywhere else. Hasbro's distribution network remains as predictably UNpredictable as ever.

Hasbro does not auto distribute their products. The store order the product themselves. Stop blaming Hasbro because your areas don’t order stuff.

How come Malaysia got like a zillion TR (Walgreens exclusive(?) supposedly)Brainstorm? Yet it was like a beetch to find them in stores if at all?

The situation may be different in the mainland USA but in other countries, case lots have a certain number of specific figures per box. I saw these HB boxes being opened post delivery to specialty shops and mainline stores like TRU ( heck back in 2002, during RID, there wasn't a single FireConvoy in site in all 3 TRUs in Singapore (only Megs) so there is some issues with Hb's distribution system whether you like it or not.

Even with regards to specialty shops (not online), it was like a pain for them to order TFA Arcee for them, who order direct from Hasbro. They were ordering a specific item and still could not get her.

Hence, I get my plastic crack from online Amiami etc.

I got my penultimate delivery of Transformers Legends figures from TFSource yesterday. I opened up Seaspray, Topspin, and Twin Twist tonight. I agree with Chuckdawg: the colors on Takara's versions of the Jumpstarters really do pop a lot better than the Hasbro versions. Their Targetmasters are standing alone on my shelves until I can find them proper stand-ins for Pointblank and Sureshot. In the meantime, I've given the Takara Jumpstarters their Hasbro counterparts' guns. They still work well, being mostly silver paint. The white plastics match better on Twin Twist than the blues do on Topspin, though. It's not really a big deal to me. What IS a big deal, though, is that my Topspin has two left feet, so I'm hoping TFSource will exchange it for a correctly assembled sample.

True, but they can only order what Hasbro has available to ship and it's a well known fact that TR Deluxe wave 5 and some parts of the TLK and RID lines are practically non-existant in most/all of the US at B&M retail and exceedingly scarce online with major retailers like TRU and even Hasbro's own HTS not even stocking them. Some things really are Hasbro's fault as they're readily available in ample numbers in other parts of the world including Canada.

How great has the Legends Line been the past few years (as well as Hasbro's offerings)? Maybe you start to notice when your Masterforce & Victory shelves start to fill up.
