I'm tired of finally thinking my collection looks great and then only seeing hasbro and takara put out premium packs with insanely detailed paint apps and figures that only come in that premium set. This is mainly for the AOL line as of now but it's worth talking about right?

It's certainly a risk that it will happen, especially with the main feature cast. Personally I find that the premium figs aren't worth the extra hassle.

Thankfully this has only happened to the Movie lines so far, like the Premium Series back in 2007 and to a lesser extent the Classics lines (the "improved" versions come out years later). As said before, risk of the trade.

I learned my lesson after the first 2007 movie toyline, I was completely rattled when the 'Premium' banner came out. Collecting movie toys is a tough line of work xD

See in the UK, we don't get the premimum lines so we don't have this problem unless we import of course
...

Haha well to me this has been such a major problem with the age of extinction line. Just look at crosshairs he us all green with some black and silver. Now the premium package with all 5 autobots has him with movie accurate deco completely flawless... as a collector I honestly hate duplicates on my shelf and I just need to know would it be worth it to spend the extra money
