First, I want to buy that Takara Transformers E-hobby Encore Reissue Exclusive Black Megatron at Robotkingdom. However, it's only 80$ and the item description clearly state that "This item do not have ehobby comic book, and label."

So, is it a KO or not?

Not KO but cheap because it lacks the label and comic. Btw K, would like to contribute and hope the thread will be stickied.

Trouble is, we should categorize this to two sections. G1 and Modern, pre 1995 or post 1995.

For G1 gestalts:

1. Aerialbots:

a. Check box quality (too new, it's a KO)
b. Silverbot no launching platform
c. American box but with functional launcher (Silverbolt again)
d. Q.C. touch and go, weapons not complete or doubles.
e. Check the wheel rivets, easily corroded and stamping is cr@p!
f. Label sheet is cr@p
g. Decoder is unattached

2. Stunticons

a. Chrome on Motormaster's faux wheels are ripped
b. Wheel rivets easily corroded and thin
c. In packaged decals are cr@ppy same with decals to be attached
d. Same as the Aerialbots

3. Protectobots

a. All have metal chest plates
b. Same with wheel rivets and in stock decals
c. Nearly all aspects in the Aerialbots

4. Constructicons

a. Longhaul's hip guard lacks a clamp you can attached to his attack vehicle mode
b. Double weapons
c All aspects as that of the Aerialbots

* uses styrofoam as container
* misspellings in the box/instruction manual/wrong name on the box example: Dinobot Bommander and Springer has a wrong name in his box

5. Wheeljack

a. White plastic somewhat translucent
b. Black plastic is dull
c. Almost all aspects as the Aerialbots except for the styrofoam
d. Plastic blister pack has weak adhesion
e. Crappy wheel rivets

6. Grimlock

a. Chest won't lock in in robot mode
b. Dull plastic color
c. Rough molding but chest chrome excellent..........really!
d. Cr@ppy decals
e. Decoder sigil detached
f. Weak adhesion in blister pack
g. Dinobot Bommander
h. Almost all aspects in the Aerialbots set

7. Blitzwing

a. The original TFC re-issue has NO decoder sigil despite indicated in the manual ( I just sneaked this in as a joke  )while the KO HAS the decoder
b. Almost all aspects previously mentioned.

Got my responce back from RK and they say it's not a KO. With the confirmation above, I may buy that Megs in 2 or 3 weeks. (I'm moving out soon.)

By the way, I overpaid for a KO Grimlock lately (70$CAN, shipping included) still, I was amazed at it's quality. Labels are good, and they stick well. The robo chest lock well in place, but the robo head stay far out on the back. I suspect it's part of the original design. Detailings are rich and deep. The clear parts are however, a bit too dark. Appart "Dinobot Bommander", not much printing errors. The thing transform pretty good and tightli, but the dino feet that slide up to revel the robo hands are a bit loose in that transformation step. Was my KO Grimlock a reissue of the "original" KO that got it's issues fixed?

Perhaps. I initially owned a KO "Bommander" before getting a loose original from ebay and comparing the two, the head molding of the original is smooth and glossier. And yup, the head is all the way back there. So comparing MP-08 and the original just goes to show how far engineering toys have gone.

Good that your version's chest locks in place. My version when you swing up the arms pulls up the entire chest.

Also, the original Grimlock I won in ebay from the U.K., well the back cockpit panel opens. the KO is locked (can't be opened).

Yup, no Diaclone pilots for Bommander.

I think the reason why it's so cheap is because it didn't sell all too well. What doesn't help is that it has breaking issues in some spots.

I'm going to say it is with near 100% certainty.

With the quantities he has (at least 10), yeah I'm willing to say it's a KO.

Guys please help me on this one. I really want a G1 Megatron, complete with all accessories, but he's damn expensive. So, getting a reissue is in order. Before I say "fawk it" and order the E-Hobby Black version, I'm trying to find a relatively fairly priced reissue.

So I found this:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/251831423803?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT

It's not an Encore, just a... hum... "reissue". I've been burned twice already with an expansive KO passing as the real deal. Help me to not get burn a 3rd time.

Thanks.

EDIT:
Never mind, I think it's just a version of the E-Hobby Black Megatron.
So, fawk it, I'm buying this one.

That brown Megatron is technically Megatron's "double" Megaplex.

The first item link you posted is the first re-issue of Megatron, from which the TFC version is based except for the energon mace, decals and mouse pad.

Here are other G1 Megs

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Megatron-16-S-N ... 20f4ce7f52

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transformers-G1 ... 4d2da1460b

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transformers-Co ... 234acb6199

(this one is the best imho)

CRISS DE CÂLISSE! I really hate it when that happen! I bought the E-Hobby Megatron from Ya-Hobby, I paid for it, and now, I'm being refunded because the item is out of stock and they didnt removed it from their site.

Sigh.

So, I'm bidding on the Megatron I asked about. Let's hope for the best.

Billy-Jim!

I think there are folks out there who may know better than me, but I studied up a bit before my recent trip to Chinatown L.A. The tell tale sign is that logo in the bottom right of the box. The silver Japanese writing. I'm not sure what it says or means, but it is present on most Takara toys. Not just MPs.
It seems that most the KOs don't have this on the box. While some to most DO have the blue Takara Tomy logo.
I think the only other way to know, is the officials have the number embossed on the back of the box. Of course you can't see that in these pics.

Again, I would wait for some other replies, but these could be the real deal.

Good luck.

Edit: After a quick trip to Takara/Tomy mall to look at something, I realize what those silver letters say. "Transformers" in Japanese.
@ self,

Kijiji seller kinda wrote:HEAR YE, HEAR YE! I SELL SOME MARVELOUS MP FIGURES! I SHOW THEM MISB AND SELL THEM FOR AROUND HALF THE PRICE THEY NORMALLY GO FOR!

Image

I GUARANTY THAT THOSE ARE THE REAL DEAL AND ARE NOT K.O!!! I SWEAR ON YOUR MOTHER!
COME BUY YOUR REAL MPs TODAY!!!!

Seem legit indeed.

Even the KOs have the Lambo logos. Just like the real thing.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I contacted the guy just to know whats up with his listing and it turns out I did business with him before. He had previously sold me the following lot for 35$:
RTS Megatron, Henkei Skywarp, AOE Voyager Grimlock brand new and Marvel Select Sabretooth brand new (the laer I eventually sold for 10$)

Image

So yeah, that seller has precedent for selling things at firesale prices, this is probably the real deal afterall.

They are, but the boxes themselves are in a bigger display box. You know, like those you find near a register?
