Why are some Prime toys soooo expensive on E-Bay?

Hey guys,

I have only been collecting seriously since April and there seems to be this whole distribution mess with the Prime line, leading to higher numbers online. Especially for First Edition Bulhead, Optimus and, for some reason, certain Beast Hunter commander class figures. Did the states ever get these figures? If not, I guess it would explain the prices. Some e-bay listings call them cancelled while the wiki page shows none of that. If anyone can sum up the ordeal, it would be very much appreciated.

FE Prime and Bulkhead (and the rest of the FEs really) were heavily released in Asia and Canada, but never wound up in the States until Hasbro had to intervene and redistribute them a few months later. Still think some cities still never got em though.

BTW, you should try and get the DELUXE versions of FE Optimus and Megatron. Those two molds are absolutely fantastic and will fit well among your other deluxes Optimusses and Megs.

They are a bit expensive for sure, but well worth it. If you can ever find the 2 pack containing the figurines of the kids, go for it!

Greed and a new requirement on some vendors about adding the custom fees (mostly greed). I like to deal better with ebay Euro vendors than those stateside. Only three or four who weren't such m0r0ns to deal with.

Some of them just squeaked out into retail, I don't remember which figures in particular though.

Some of the Beast Hunter Cyberverse figures were never released in the US, only in Asia, UK, EU, and sparsely in Canada. These consisted of:

Commanders:
- Ultra Magnus (Retool of Commander Class Optimus from the first Prime wave)
- Bludgeon (Repaint with new head based on Commander Class Shockwave)
- Unicron Megatron (Repaint of Megatron and literally the only toy version of Unicron/Megatron's Predacons Rising depiction)

Legion:
- Ace Vehicon
- Rotgut
- Divebomb
- Bluestreak

The Bumblebee Driller vehicle was released in the US but very sparsely, it saw almost no main retail distribution and could be had for a limited time in Market Six stores. This can also get expensive.

For the Prime mainline, a lot of the "First Edition" stuff (but not all of it) was tough to come by, as only some of it got initially released as planned. The first edition First Edition Prime is more desirable than the second edition First Edition Prime due to a paint app flaw on the re-release. FE Cliffjumper can also command a bit more money, as it was tough to find even on re-release, and is a far superior version of the character.

Finally, if you really want expensive, look up Arms Micron Breakdown, the only version of this character in any of the mainlines.

Low supply + high demand = high price.

There's still a demand for Prime toys? Been trying to get rid of my collection... been putting it off cause I thought no one wants them or want it for pennies.

There will ALWAYS be a demand for RID Prime Vehicon. One of the best engineered figures in all of Prime, and DEFINITELY one of the best army builders of all time. :D
