I want to donate some TFs to a good cause...

I want to unload some of my TFs, particularly Movie figures. I've sold TFs on eBay before, but in this case I just don't feel like going through all the work of selling them, knowing I probably won't get much in return and I'll just end up wasting that money anyway.

I'd love to give them to a good cause. I've thought about donating them to a children's hospital, but I don't want them to end up broken and discarded at the bottom of a box of random toys. If I donate them to Goodwill, I'm afraid they'll end up either in the hands of another collector or being bought by a parent who doesn't even know what they are and given to a kid who doesn't want them. Other ideas I've had: try to find a hospital with a ward/wing for older children, or try to find a local family with a sick child who likes Transformers. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

If you local hospital doesn't have a way to take donations like that, the will surely know of some sick kids that could use some toys.

Schools/teachers will often take donations to use a teaching tools or for needy families. Example: I use transformer toys with my sixth graders to demonstrate energy changing or transforming into other forms. The kids eat that up!

I still think goodwill is a good option. I dont know if you have those thrift shop places that have all the proceeds going to a good cause (ie. creating jobs for immigrants or people who were on welfare, which is what the goodwill thrift stores do where I am from).

It will still probably go to collectors but what's ok is that the collectors will have buy it from the goodwill place, thus donating to the charity.

And I hear you for e-bay, it really doesnt pay much after all the costs and time one puts into it.

Or how about you give it to a family member who has young kids? It could be a way of them to get familiar with this passion of ours.
