"The Best Vesion of (fill in the black) is..."

Some perfer the original G1 since thats what started it all. Some like Beast Wars since it changed the direction of the show. Some like the Cybertron Trilogy (dont know why). There are many opinions as to whats is good and why and what sucked.

This thread is is discuss what the best iteration of your favorite characters from any line of toys....

I'll go first in my next post...

Personally I love the G1 series of toys. (because of the nostalgic factor) But I think complexity, intricacy and great design a good transformer toy makes. So this is why I LOVE the masterpiece collection. If takara makes 50 masterpiece G1 characters, (grimlock anyone?) I would be forced to buy them all.

Since I just started collecting seriously again and I just picked him up, I'll start with...

Classics MIRAGE...

This (IMHO) is possibly the best version of Mirage in any line (Alternators was cool, but I dont have him and its not a formula one type, so we'll exclude him for the sake of this post)... Beautiful alt. mode that recalls his G1 look. His bot mode is suitible as he sleek and nimble (which adds to his character since he does recon). So posable and manga looking... So proportionate. So like the G1 version but WAY better... Color is great, design and transformation is great.

IMO, best mirage ever... Close 2nd. Alternators Mirage (The GTO is crazy cool but it wasnt a Formula one, the color wasnt that royal blue and the GTO seemed better suited for Hot Rod.)

Next up from me... Best Iteration of Bumblebee!!!

Best Bumblebee iteration!!! (IMHO)

Its gotta be CLASSICS Bumblebee. (I mean, the movie version is cool but...)

This BB looks so like G1 but soooo better! I loved that hes a compact car similar to G1 but modernized. I alwayed hated BB toys cuz they NEVER really looked like him. They were simple toys, with no real playablility since legs didnt separate, arms dint bend, etc. Here, we get a G1 styled BB that is detailed and articulate (a 3-piece combo never seen in a BB). Plus they actually gave him horns! His transformation is a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity that matches BB's character and design very well. All the body sections paralle the originals body sections (as the windsheild and cabin is the torso, etc.)He also comes with a cool lil jet ski that turns to a jet pack for anded fun)...

All and all??? BEST BUMBLEBEE EVER!!!

Next up!!! Best Rodimus Prime/Hot Rod Ever.

For me, the Classics line was/is the best. I like ALL the figures that came out, which is some I can not even say about the G1 line, and I love that line too.

What G1 had was the cars. They had better articulation and playability than the seekers. At least to me they did.

Cybertron has quite a few good figs, but again, mostly cars. Excellion/Hot Shot is a great figure! I'm getting Smokescreen who also seems pretty cool. Armorhide is great. The others like Unicron, Primus, and a few others are also nice.

Almost all the movie toys are great. The one I like the least is Jazz and Bonecrusher. Jazz because of his friggin stupid arms and sad excuse for "hands", and Bonecrusher because he is too small.

Cyertron Trilogy did have a FEW cool ones... Off the top of the head, some I would include in addition to what you mentioned are Inferno(superlinks) and his repaint, Rodimus (superlinks), and for sure Omega Supreme...

Right know Classics is the best think going...

But as for strictly tv serier... My all time fav was RID... That had great characters that made great toys... The Build Team (landfill) put Devastator to shame.

This is easy.

Masterpiece Optimus Prime – The best Prime ever, perhaps the best Transformers toy ever made. You can’t go wrong with either MP-01 or MP-04 depending on your budget. Extremely poseable and durable, comes with cool weapons. The alt mode is not the most accurate but doable. The robot mode is where this guy really shines.

Masterpiece Megatron – Awesome. Megs returns to his gun form. Transformation can be a pain in the a$$ but he is awesome. The legs look thin in pictures but when you have him in front of you, they look normal. I’m not a big fan of the head sculpt, wish they would have made him more like the cartoon. He really looks great next to Optimus.

Masterpiece Starscream – Like many, not a huge fan of the colors but it looks damn good in alt mode. It is disappointing that he is much smaller than the other Masterpiece figs but still the best Starscream figure out there. Can't wait til' the Wal-Mart Screamer comes out.

Generation 1 Soundwave – This is still the best representation of Soundwave even if it is over 20 years old. He still looks great in both modes and decent poseability. He also has his own casseticon army.

Alternators Jazz – Even though he is no longer a Porsche 935 Turbo. This is the best Jazz to date. Reprolabel him up and he looks just like his G1 form. This is my favorite Alternator far and away.

Agreed with all, PrimeFan...

Though I will exclude Ultra Magnus... WHY WHY the repaint on a MP toy!!!

(If it was up to me, which its not) I would have at least made him into a different model/style of 18-wheeler.

Anyway, Honorable mention of "Next Best" Prime and Ultra Magnus has to go to their RID versions...

Energon Downshift-As a homage to G1 Wheeljack (as well as being named Wheeljack in Japan), he looks great. No more monkey arms and is very articulate.

Classics Thundercracker-having no Masterpiece version of himself available, this is the next best thing.

Masterpiece Skywarp-take the qualities which make MP Starscream great and add an accurate color scheme and a goofy face to boot.

Alternators Hound, Tracks, Silverstreak and Smokescreen-As with all of the alternators range, they is very detailed and looks good in both forms. The added kick is that they look very close to their G1 counterparts.

I know I know... But stuff like the Cybertron Soundwave, just shouldnt be (Why a jet, there are already tons)

I guess it also has to do with what an individual finds appealing in their TF's...

For example, there are tons of BeastWar fans... I just hated that series/toyline...

But I loved RID with great versions of Prime, Magnus, X-Brawn, Prowl, Side Burn, and the Gestalts (Landfill and Railracer) while other didnt like it.

Personally, I thought Cybertron was just a little out there in there design... (When they release toys with alien vehicle alt. modes, I usually look at it as a cheat and the bot mode is usually unproportionate.) Of course there are always execptions
