In this thread we talk about those poopy TFs that stockists just can't seem to get rid of and remain on the peg for months, sometimes even years.

Feel free to also unleash your creative side and post some lyrics and script lines for these unfortunate souls inspired by the cartoons and movies.

So toys like bumblebee (all lines), Beast Hunter Soundwave and Lazerback?

In these situations, I imagine they would gain agoraphobia if ever bought and released...all they've ever know is inside the packing.

I can't even properly describe how I've come to loathe Bumblebee.

Sitting in a voyager box with Dreamwave box art, he rides on two rubber threads. He is a rescue vehicle/construction vehicle hybrid. He has a shovel and he has two guns right on top of his roof... inbetween sits his robot head- No way to hide it! He's dark blue. He's green, blue, purple and has no facial expression.

You aren't buying him, I'm not buying him, no parent buys him and no child buys him...

HE's from Armada, he's from Energon, he is-

OVERSTOCK!

I thought RID was the last line to have rubber wheels aside from alternators and masterpiece figures

Armada Scavenger has rubber threads and shelfwarmed in to infinity over here.

Thanks, and HA! , what a great conicidence; The toy which I thought was the biggest shelfwarmer of all time is also called Scavenger, but from the Beast Wars transmetal line

Wasn't BW Inferno the all-time greatest?

That's debatable, actually. What is known for sure is that both BW Inferno and BW Scavenger were notorious shelfwarmers, and possibly among the first recorded as such.

Here are a couple others:

ANY Universe 2003 Walmart exclusive
Proving buying in bulk isn't always a good idea. In one fell swoop Walmart got:

- Ruination (Desert camo)
- Sunstorm
- Prowl
- Sideburn
- Spychanger Optimus Prime with Prowl
- Spychanger Ultra Magnus with Ironhide

Too many products at once, too much choice leads to slow movers. Especially Ruination stayed on the shelves for a long time.

Supreme Cheetor
A toy too big for his own good. And Hasbro seems to not have learned a lesson if the gigantic Bumblebees are any indication...

ANY toy named Mudflap
Cybertron, Movie Toys 'R Us, RotF Deluxe, and Tuner. They all share two things in common: the name and their tendency to shelfwarm. It's like the name itself is cursed

If you have to write a song about shelfwarmers, be sure to include those three. :P

I've often wandered what happens to those toys once they get taken off the shelf, because they inevitably will.

I imagined it must something like the 87 animated movie, the bit where Unicron drops bots from a conveyer belt into that boiling vat of acid ready to be recycled as bottle tops or something.

Hardly. They're simply sold off to a different chain for cheap, or even exported. We just had a chunk of leftover DotM Bumblebee, Topspin and Nitro Bumblebee come and go from a Drug Store chain.
