Kotobukiya Shows Off Z Prime - Update: Custom Figure

We will chalk this one up to crossovers you didn't see coming. Kotobukiya is showing off a new Prime figure unlike any we have seen before at the All Japan and Hobby Show. Named Z Prime, it looks to be a redeco in Optimus Prime colors of Kotobukiya's A03 Type K Z Knight figure. Z Prime might be a crossover between Transformers and a sub-line of Tomy's 1990's Zoids toyline called Z Knights. Z Prime comes with a matrix. The image is courtesy of Autobase Aichi.

Update: It turns out this is not an official product but a custom.

Now we know what would've happened if Optimus Prime and the Nobell Gundam had an affair.

Am I the only one who keeps thinking Slamdance finally got the matrix for a split second whenever I glance at this thumbnail? You know, because the legs look so streamlined and jet-ish.

No?

Right, no one else has thought he deserved it for 26 years.

Sigh.

As for the figure, I'm not sure exactly what they're going for, but this looks a heluva lot cooler than yet another toy with a video game console alt.

We totally need more Nobel Gundam in our lives and more G Gundam in general. Robot Damashii and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam needs to have more mobile fighters in their lineups.

I'd love to see the moveset for Gundam Maxter. Probably an uppercut so hard that pancakes and eagles fly out of you when it connects.

G Gundam is so awesome, it deserves a 2nd season animated by Trigger and a game developed by P+. Just imagine; G-Gundam Allstars Vs featuring ALL Gundams ever designed for the Tv series.

OK, I looked at the original version of the figure and I have to say it looks awesome!
Not sure about the Optimus color scheme though, don't think that will do much for the figure.

This isn't an official piece, it's a custom they had on display along side over a dozen others as well as they're own brand of paint. They just wanted to show off what their models could do since they're putting them up against Gundam. Here's how he was displayed before it was rearranged to make room for more.

Looks cool. Is it something I'd pay import price for? No. But would like to own it? Yes.
