For the record, me and Bravo are tight. I don't mind the team member changes either. I don't do a lot of repaints, but in this context it's totally fine, and I will gladely double up on molds.

Silverbolt just flew in from Wisconsin this morning. I'm gonna combine him with Bravo 1st!

You're a good man.

Kinda guessed Grove would form a chest plate.

Guessing CW Onslaught is going to be a massive retool using the CW Hotspot toy. With Two to Three more repurposed CW combiners. With maybe One New toy.

Think all of the Repurposed CW Combiners have enough extensive retools and different colors. To make each toy unique and stand out.

With regards to these points - agree in a lot of ways, although I still see Superion as being the best, which is why I think they released him first.

Defensor looks great, nice and bulky like his original self. The only thing I will say is that I've seen an angle which looks like Groove's wheel sticks out of the chest. Not sure without seeing proper in-hand pics but I've got a feeling I'll be combining him without the Legends figure in the chest, just like Menasor (who I think looks miles better without Blackjack and a closed chest).

Like yourself I'm fine with retools. Most of the Classics figures were retools, and some great figures at that. I really would be curious to see what further retools we'll get after these rumours of Onslaught and Scattershot.

edit: close inspection: yes, that does look like a new face for Blades. Oh man. First Aid looks so great. They all look so great....uueerrrrrrrrrr :BOOM:

We have the pretools of Hot Spot, Rook, Breakdown, Drag Strip and possibly the proper Firefly and Blades ones (new heads don't really count) to look forward to. Start guessing ;)

I'm curious, at this point, where the logic is in which figure a mold is designed for.

Motormaster and Optimus - MM looks better in it, but Optimus was released first (not necessarily produced).
Silverbolt and Cyclonus - SB looks better (to me) and came first.
Hot Spot - maybe an Onslaught basis?

[You could go to Springer and Sandstorm - design was for Sandstorm, Springer came first.]

That's what I've been wondering, especially in regards to the new characters Alpha Bravo and Offroad, based on Blades and First Aid. If we see a third retool of these molds (come on, Vortex), that would confirm my suspicions of them being afterthoughts for the sake of variety.

That Magnus is incredible! I see quite a bit of the MP design in there which is a nice touch. Not feeling Cyclonus though, it's an interesting take on the Silverbolt mold but just falls a little short for me.

It's like a chicken and egg conundrum!

As far as speculating goes:

Combaticons:

Onslaught - Hot Spot
Vortex - Blades/Bravo
Blast Off - Weirdly enough could be Blades/Bravo again, just a heavy retool.
Swindle - First Aid/Offroad
Brawl - Could be a strange heavy retool of Rook.
Shockwave as the Legends weapon for Bruticus.

Technobots:

Scattershot - Can't see Silverbolt working. Possibly a new mould?
Afterburner - Groove
Lightspeed - Dead End/Streetwise
Strafe - Aerialbot Deluxes perhaps? Unless they use a new mould for him and Blast Off.
Nosecone - No idea. Unless, like Strafe, it's a new mould shared with Brawl perhaps.
Since Afterburner could be a Groove retool this means they might introduce a new Deluxe member.

Weirdly enough, Rook reminds me of Universe Onslaught. It'd be funny if they pull a fast one and make Onslaught a retool of Rook and use him as a limb. If that happened then why not go the whole hog and make Blast Off the torso and watch the scale nuts' heads explode!

Rook reminds me of the Cybertron Defense Red Alert. Which kinda sucks only in that I was hoping if any variation of a UT inspired Red Alert became a new toy, it would be Animated red alert, because god damn it we need more frontier doctors.

I was hoping for Blades to be colored orange like the OTHER Blades (I know, I'm a sick person), but I guess they started doing their homework after the Strafe thing last year.

Syn_13 wrote:Weirdly enough, Rook reminds me of Universe Onslaught.

Oddly enough, what he reminds me of is Armada/Cybertron Red Alert. Not in vehicle mode, but in robot mode the claw that plugs in and takes the place of his hand gives me that vibe. Although I can sorta see molded hands, but the pegholes in the front make me unsure if I really do. (If/when I get him, I'm plugging Defensor's hand into the other hole. (An ambitious kitbasher could probably make a Hellboy transformer that way. If someone does, I want to see pics :D ))

To follow on from our ongoing coverage of the New York Toy Fair 2015, Seibertron.com is proud to present another refined gallery, showcasing the continuation of the Transformers Generations Combiner Wars toy line. As we have reported earlier, in this gallery you'll find a better look at IDW-inspired Leader Thundercracker (original design by Guido Guidi) and Ultra Magnus (yes, another Nick Roche, well done), plus a new combiner team of Protectobots and their gestalt mode - Defensor - and more Legend class figures. Check them out below!

Devastator individual bots - look awesome. Still don’t see the point of making them so big. I hope somebody shrinks them down to classics scale. I would gladly pay the same price or even more if they scaled with other combiners.

Mixmaster - Cement mixer mode blows monkey balls. Hasbro did that to mess with G1 purists. There was no reason to design him like that when the other 5 were all done G1 faithful.

Ultra Magnus – Really awesome. Glad there is no annoying white Prime. Love the overall G1 appearance. But his stacks are too tall. I guess I can live with that if he is the same size as City Commander. (Jetfire’s height minus the wings/backpack) I don’t need Ultra Magnus any bigger than that. He is not a combiner, lol.

Protectobots - Awesome. Glad to see Alpha Bravo is finally good for something. Rook is ok. I would be open to someone doing a proper Groove as a limb even if the scale in alt mode is off.

Cyclonus – Meh with a capital “M”. The Silverbolt mold is about as “Cyclonus” as the Motormaster mold is “Optimus”. Too many sacrifices to accommodate a combiner feature that is totally unnecessary for the character.

Viper - Stupid GI Joe crossover. It should have been Tailwind.

Warpath - waste of plastic. I like to call him “not Warpath”. They might as well repaint the leader megatron red and call him MP warpath.
