Wave one there are three Aerialbot limbs, one stunticon limb, and two torsos (Prime and Silverbolt). There's also powerglide, but he's there for accessories. So technically wave one has 5 of 6 arielbots so either way your still missing a limb.

Due too that, it can be safe to assume wave 2 will play out as the Final Aerialbot limb, 3 Stunticon Limbs, 1(?) Torso that being Motor Master, and at least Blackjack or Acer, or whatever their legends class car buddy's named for the legends assortment for wave 2.

I get why they do it, but just a tiny bit of paint could have made the combiner pegs on these deluxes far less obvious. It just looks bad on dragstrip. Also skydive is mistransformed in jet mode the wings move further back.

However, I'm not to keen on Dragstrip. I don't know, I think (?) i'd like it better if Dragstrip were a chick, like the stunticon job boxset. I know it goes against the IDW canon, but still It'd be cool, I want more fembots.

You could make a little cloth skirt for him.
Change his nsme to Dragqueen.

He's kind of curvy though.

I originally thought Alpha Bravo would be a redecoed Rotorstorm limb for Bruticus. Looking at this official pic, I can easily see a simple retool into Blastoff as well.
Who will everyone else be?

I want all of these, but I also want all of that rumored Titan Class Devastator made of six Voyager Class Constructicons. I need a new job or a second job asap!

The deluxe figures look way too plain (no pun intended), they could use some more paint and a more refined transformation. It also looks like their articulation is dreadful.

The biggest gripe i have is that there is a helicopter in the Aerialbot team, no just no Hasbro.

It's called diversity, folks. Instead of four different color planes on the pegs, they have two planes, a helicopter, and an F1 racecar. This looks much better to everyone who isn't familiar with the G1 combiners, which is pretty much everybody in the child target audience and many of their parents. We'll probably get the final "correct" Aerialbot a few waves down the road, or as an exclusive of some sort. Also, retool/redeco potential is important. A helicopter mold can be reused for both Bruticus and Defensor, so by changing one Aerialbot's alt mode they just took care of one limb from three separate combiners. That's a good return on an investment if I ever heard one.

These are looking good so far :) the packaging looks better as well, amazing what a change of colour can do. To join in what others have said I can see a Vortex out of that. As to why there's no slingshot, he's dead in the comics and it seems as though hasbro are sticking close to the fiction in the comics.

Also, how many kids could raise $85-100 to complete an entire gestalt in the time that the first wave will be on the shelf? I mean, I'd be ticked if I was scrounging from a meager allowance and lemonade sales or something, and I managed to get three of the jets, only to have them all disappear off the shelves, displaced by a set of cars, before I could get the remaining two.

Honestly, if it'd been up to me, I might have downplayed the actual set team thing, and played up the Scramble City aspect, picked 4 gestalts to do, and then released one component for each gestalt with each wave. Assuming I were willing to shuffle a few alternate modes, and characters, I'd probably plan it like:

First Quarter

Voyager
Optimus Prime (Autobot SemiTruck)
Aerialbot Silverbolt (Autobot Jet)

Deluxe
Aerialbot Fireflight (Autobot Jet)
Stunticon Dragstrip (Decepticon Car)
Protectobot Blades (Autobot Helicopter)
Combaticon Brawl (Decepticon Tank)

Legion
Stunticon Blackjack (Decepticon Car)

Second Quarter

Voyager
Aerialbot Silverbolt (Autobot Jet)
Stunticon Motormaster (Decepticon SemiTruck)

Deluxe
Aerialbot Alpha Bravo (Autobot Helicopter)
Stunticon Breakdown (Decepticon Truck)
Protectobot Streetwise (Autobot Car)
Combaticon Blastoff (Decepticon 'Jet')

Legion
Protectobot Groove (Autobot Motorcycle)

Third Quarter

Voyager
Stunticon Motormaster (Decepticon Semi-Truck)
Protectobot Hotspot (Autobot Firetruck)

Deluxe
Aerialbot Skydive (Autobot Jet)
Stunticon Deadend (Decepticon Car)
Protectobot First-Aid (Autobot Truck)
Combaticon Vortex (Decepticon Helicopter)

Legion
Combaticon Swindle (Decepticon Truck)

Fourth Quarter

Voyager
Protectobot Hotspot (Autobot Truck)
Combaticon Onslaught (Decepticon Truck)

Deluxe
Aerialbot Air-Raid (Autobot Jet)
Stunticon Wild-Rider (Decepticon Car)
Protectobot ???
Combaticon ???

Legion
Aerialbot Powerglide

Buyers could complete a hybrid gestalt with the first wave, a full Decepticon or Autobot gestalt by the second wave, and a named gestalt by the end of the year. That'd keep the shelves diverse all the way through the year with at least three characters from each faction, and at least 4 different alternate modes out there. It would also keep customers coming back with each wave.

Why put those two limbs in bold in the "Accessories Class"? There's no reason to. :?

Now that there are these nice, big, semi-high res images, that are supposed to make these look good, and only just now, do I think these look bad. I can tell how they all transform just by one quick glance, which isn't bad, except that on guys like Fireflight and Skydive the arms are hidden worse in jet mode than on the G1 toys. Silverbolt is several steps back from his Universe toy made 6 years ago. Dragstrip just looks horrendous. I actually like Alpha Bravo better than the rest of these. That Optimus Prime, which upon first glance at the Botcon panel looked horrible, actually looks like the most fun thing coming out. I really wish they'd just put more budget into these and charge $20 a pop for deluxes and $30 or $35 for Voyagers. I've bought some Star Wars Black figures for $20, because those are really well done, quality versions of classic characters. While I'll pay for quality, I also don't like paying $100 per limb for third party combiners. If Hasbro really intends for these to be their collector oriented line, then I wonder why they don't realize that most of the people that care about these classic G1 combiners are adults with disposable income that would pay a bit more if the quality was just truly outstanding. I'm not asking for Fansproject/TFC/Maketoys level stuff, just get back to what was being done around 2005-2010 and I'd be thrilled.

Must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. Guess I'm just disappointed.

ZeroWolf wrote:I can see the 2016 club exclusives coming from these and botcon toys (maybe an operation: combination set ;))

This would be a great way to get an SG Devastator without having to pay $600 for one :D

As strong as the rumor mill is at this point, I'll be shocked if a Devastator release doesn't come to fruition. Very rare for so much noise to surface without some payoff.

Well, the latest from the rumormill is something even bigger:

Oh I agree, there's been calls for a gen 1 Devy for ages. My skeptism comes more from how we're going to get him, but we'll find out soon enough. I've said before but something like that would be prime toy show material.

Though I can also see hasbro dragging out rumours to botcon

i agree about the diversity thing. and i think its a way to promote the "mix'n match" aspect to the wee ones.

however, you can almost be guaranteed that the final members of each team will NOT be exclusives. since theyve already been solicited/shown to us. and that would just be cruel on a level even hasbro wouldnt go to.

Hehe, we already recorded the next one and guess whose Skype didn't play nice during the Combiner Wars talk? This guy. This guy's network decided to not cooperate  At least I got my comic thoughts in! Really need to upgrade our technology.

Back on topic - I have had some caffeine and am slightly less irritated by these toys now. Maybe these can be a gateway back towards some semi-high end mass retail stuff.
