so I picked up the 30th anniversary grimlock at toys are us a couple months back for my sons birthday....wtf is wrong with Hasbro for making it so loose and floppy that a hooker couldn't get it up. his legs and hips in robot mode slide freely everywhere making him floppy in robot mode, and in dino mode the arms / legs wont support him. ive seen video reviews with the same problem, how about you all?

Just to be on the safe side, are we talking about the Masterpiece reissue?

Sadly that thing was riddled with QC problems.

Sorry to hear about that Grimlock. I have the first run Hasbro and it's quite sturdy. I second your opinion on Hasbro as of late.

every business wants to make a profit, I see that...but Hasbro and toys r us generally jack their prices up a day after they get stock... in many cases it is cheaper going the Takara route anyways. I pay good money for these things, I want a figure that can stand on his own and doesn't wobble and fall over for no reason.

You definitely have bad luck with your purchase. I have that release of Masterpiece Grimlock as well, and he stands just fine. However, I did have to exchange the first one I bought because it came without his blaster.

I heard that the plastic is so thin flashing a light through it makes the plastic look transluscent and not opaque.

Then again, it was supposed to be cheaper SRP as compared to the original releases.

The robot hips on mine are insanely floppy as well, but I didnt mind since this was the cheapest release of the mold so far and I took it s a trade off. And he still stands well once posed so I dont mind all that much.

Even it has happened with you James? What has happened to hasbro for manufacturing such defective toys.

Bring AEC-quality plastic back, please and thank you.

Yes, gopalkrishnan, the hips are dramatically loose for me too. I do have a friend whose Grimlock does not have loose hips so what I think happened is that somewhere along the production line, some of the QA steps were removed to lessen the cost (along with the lesser paint apps and the different plastic). It looks like the fault of some sort of fastenning machine that was never recalibrated. That would also explain why you need to exert so much damn force to align the tail when transforming him back into dino mode.

But as I said, I don't mind this since I paid way less than most people who own this mold. Also, I find that though the hips are floppy as all hell, they stabilize very well once locked in with the lower waist.

And this is one of the biggest reasons that 3rd Party groups are winning hearts, minds and wallets. This is ridiculous for the price it commanded. KO quality on an official product is absolutely inexcusable. Even the MP KOs have had better QC as of late.

There's definitely a problem with that and no excuse.

Except for a minor hip problem, which is apparently quite common, mine had no issues.

To be fair, the mold itself is degraded pretty badly, many of the Asia reissue runs of MP Grimlock from the past year have the same issues as the TRU version. Even the MP-8X reissue Takara did a few months back is not as high quality as the original run.

Degraded mold or sucky plastic? Sometimes it's hard to be in this hobby. Either get the 1st release with errors or wait for version 2 to be fix of the errors or version 2 up turns out to be much worst :BANG_HEAD:

Mine is okay, but I can see where the quality isn't always there. Sunstorm doesn't seem to be the same grade of plastic as Thundercracker, etc. Grimlock's Thrilling 30 Masterpiece box doesn't even have # of 30 on the side...

I had the opposite problem, mine was so tight I was worried during transformation I would break something. Where my Takara Grimlock is nice and ratchets smoothly.

It's junk because the sweatshop factory workers only have a small amount of time to put it all together.
