Her face in robot mode is not so hot. I keep all my RiD legions in vehicle mode b/c I think they all look so much better that way.

Yeah, thats true. Except for Megatronus though, I feel he works better in robot mode. And man that legion prime looks really good in truck mode. Of all the versions of that alt mode released by hasbro, its the Legion Class which I feel makes it works best for some reason. Everything tabs perfectly and I love how the slant of the foot is aligned with the slant in the hands:

Legion Prime is pretty nice, so is Steeljaw actually.

I'd say that middle child Jan Prime is probably the best RID prime mold though (not counting the fancy giant ones).

So, anyway... is that Windblade worth $6?

There's a lot of room for improvement for Clampdown, but I rather like him.

There really aren't any other Transformers that can do the car-with-a-face look, are there?

Drift is so orange, I don't think the pictures really capture it that well.

I dunno how Windblade manages to be from the same line as Fixit. I mean, I do because WB has to also be a flat jet and Fixit's free to sacrifice his alt mode for anything and everything, but still the difference between the two is startling.

And I'm disappointed how Thunderhoof went with two sets of antlers instead of trying for a happy medium.

I picked up both Windblade and Clampdown. I really enjoyed Clampdown's figure, but regretted buying Windblade the moment I opened her packaging. The paint apps on the face looks clownish and the figure just seems not well designed at all. Iron Factory's Windsaber is a much better figure, hands down.

That was the 2001 Robots in Disguise series. This is the 2015 Robots in Disguise series. The name "Robots in Disguise" keeps getting tossed around to refer to multiple different things. Just a few years ago there were an IDW comic series that bore the name of "Transformers: Robots in Disguise" as well, which has since dropped its subtitle to currently be known simply as just "Transformers" due to the 2015 series coming about and Hasbro not wanting to cause confusion between the unrelated IDW comic and the 2015 series. And it was also previously the subtitle for the second Transformers Prime toyline, with the first being "Transformers Prime: First Edition" and the third being "Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters", long with a few other supplementary lines.

Wow! thanks for the info.. Confusing.. I mean if they wanted to do a Multiverse series, it would be forever adding and introducing new characters for every series.. I kinda liked it better when there were just a few series to go to.. Now with the advent of a new anthology cartoon series it seems like coming out every 2 years or so, it's hard to keep up..I always preferred the old Car Robots series of figures.. Not sure about the anime, as I never saw it, but the figures seemed much more robust and quality, it seems like now everything has a cheap plastic look, and no chrome, or diecast, unless in over sized and masterpieces, or Leader class, but sparingly..economy schmonomy, they can do better for the prices we pay for their trinkets..Don't get me wrong, the new series of RID is okay.. the robots look good (some of them) but I still have the feeling they could do a bit better in the quality dept.

well there are all these new series that keep coming out. Like the Transformers animated series, Robots in disguise, and best Hunters, unless they are all part of the original series that came out when the bayformer's movie came out, in that case I am mistaken, but from the get go there have been so many series of Transformers, it seems like they make a new cartoon series and toy series every two years.. I suppose I liked the universe continuing like Generation One did up to Transformers zone, then beast Wars, Beast machines, and Beast Wars II, which all sort of were in the same universe some events happening in the future, and some in the past. I liked Robot masters, that series seemed to be able to pull characters from the entirety of their multiverse at that time. now with Car Robots, armada, galaxy, and so on, there is just so much out there, that a fan can become confused with the titles, especially if they take from one series and tie it to a new one.

Well what I meant there was cartoon series, that seem to be stand alones, or maybe continuations under a different title, tho I suppose that has always been the case.

Another day goes by and we have another new gallery of Legion Class figures from the Transformers Robots in Disguise line. Unlike yesterday's gallery, which featured all new molds, the toys featured here are all straight redecos of previously released toys.
Night Ops Bumblebee is a redeco of Transformers: Robots In Disguise Bumblebee
Ultra Magnus is a redeco Transformers: Robots In Disguise Optimus Prime
Patrol Mode Strongarm is a redeco Transformers: Robots In Disguise Strongarm
Alpine Strike Sideswipe is a redeco Transformers: Robots In Disguise Sideswipe

These have been at retail for a while, have any of you picked them up? If not, will you be picking any of these up? Let us know!

Ha, Red Alert Sideswipe is a fun lil figure. I'm tempted to nab mini UM every time I see him, but I wish he had more than just paint apps that were unique.

Kind of crazy how much of a difference this is compared to the last ime we had legion Ultra Magnus toys in a show series. Last time, not only did we get an optimus retool (and a nice retool at that) but we also had another one which was a complete new mold!

And now we just get a redeco.

Not that it matters but aren't those Cyberverse figures?

But yes, I agree some of the legion figures are not created equally.

Cyberverse had two Classes: Legion and the bigger Commander, with the latter no longer in use. Those figures up there are Commander Class.

Yeah, they are cyberverse and this RID LEgion class is what replaced the cyberverse figures.

That G1 redeco grimlock looks atrocious. Grey can be a paint application and it can look good, but here it just ends up looking like the unpainted plastic that it is.

New Galleries: Robots In Disguise 1-Step Ratchet (Robot Mode Revealed), Bisk, New Strongarm and more

Fellow Seibertronians, we bring you 6 new galleries today, including: Robots In Disguise 1-Step Bisk, Ratchet, Optimus Prime, Strongarm, Sideswipe and Bumblebee. One Step Ratchet's gallery is the very first time we are seeing images of One Step Ratchet's robot mode since until a few days ago none of us had realized this toy even existed. It turns out that it shares similar molding with the new Strongarm, also released in this wave and seen below, but several parts have been remolded such as the chest, head, legs and top of the alt mode. These are all part of the 9th and 10th wave of the Robots in Disguise One Steps and many are new molds and new transformations with the exception of the Bumblebees and Sideswipe which share the common switchblade transformation first seen in Age of Extinction's Drift toy. As you will notice in the images below, all of these One-Steps have 5mm holes in their hands making them able to use weapons such as the upcoming new Weapon Minicons. These should all be appearing at retail soon.

Got to say, really impressed with the new Strongarm/Ratchet mold. Can't help but feel that Rachet would have vastly benefitted from even just one more paint app in vehicle mode, though...

The choice of apps they went with is undeniably clever - can't fault choosing areas that are seen in both mode - but it still looks too much like an finely detailed white brick for my liking.

Is it still a re-mold if every part is new and only the transformation is the same?
