We don't know his/her allegiance yet, he could very well be a Decepticon like Exhaust, who was based on Wheeljack.

I suppose you're right and we know these molds need to be reused to recoup on cost. I mean, at least they aren't scrapping the barrel of the Seekers again. There are still a few they could give the MP treatment too

When we see Jazz, then we'll see Cliffjumper. Both are Porsches (935 Turbo for Jazz, 924 Turbo for Cliffjumper), and the company is rather... stubborn when it comes to licensing, look at Binaltech/Alternators.

No MP Cliffjumper or Blaster makes no sense at this point, given Bumblebee and Soundwave exist. I know Jazz and a few others have been held back due to licensing. But that shouldn't really be an issue for either of them.

I really wish the whole Blaster/Soundwave sharing mold thing would go away forever. Or at least make it so considerably different in sculpt, if not transformation, that they don't share any noticable parts. Makes no sense for the characters to even want to resemble each other.

Post-G1, they have mostly been remold/tools of each other. I'm not saying the MP line should follow suit, We've had enough of that with the Prime/Seeker molds already. But considering their functional similarities, they should have been made in tandem.

This one's not for me, but at least it's a release.

I've read some stuff on TFW about a new MP reveal being in this month's Figure King mag, and there are rumors about Hound being revealed this year and Jazz and Mirage released next year.
Nothing solid as far as i can tell, but it does sound interesting.

I would have thought Mirage and Hound could be made generic enough to not need licensing?

Masterpiece doesn't do generic car modes, as far as I know.

Interesting. All this time, those two especially, I only ever saw "F1 racing car" and "Army Jeep". They really shot themselves in the foot with all this real world branding stuff back in the 80's.

Well, if I remember correctly, back then they didn't need a license to do real world cars. But the laws have changed since.

Ah I see. No wonder they went "Futuristic" after The Movie.

I just sort of assumed "Autobot" until someone mentioned Decepticon. But let's think about this....

The Police Super Tuned Countache has never been recognized by the TF brand properly as far as I know.... how easy would it be to make him a Con and slap "Barricade" on there?? :-? 8-}

Oh yeah, also

I think something like that would be really ugly. It's not a good mug:

Now something toy inspired that still does its own thing, that I can get behind. The QTF version is a good example, not saying they should copy this just illustrating something based on the G1 toy that's translated to look better on the toy it's attached to:

Indeed. That said, I would be really interested to see what HasTak could do with a Masterpiece Headmaster.

That had nothing to do with licensing problems, we had plenty of toys based on real cars after the Movie (tho now they're a big harder to pinpoint since nothing was specified), until RiD 2001. Remember, some got reissued in Europe in 1990, and again during G2. No, the licensing got into full swing in 2000, as evidenced by the RiD Autobot Brothers, Side Burn in particular. Prowl had no changes, X-Brawn had the lights changed, but Side Burn actually had Dodge licensing, on all US uses of the mold.

That said, Cliffjumper's original Microchange toy did have a specific model as its name, the Porsche 924 Turbo, even tho he's Super-Deformed, as appears as such in the cartoon. That poses another problem as MP goes for the realistic vehicle, not something that had a little accident with a trash compactor.

I disagree, especially since they haven't done any of the Mini-Bots except for Bumblebee to date. Should the vehicle modes be "super deformed" versions of the licensed vehicles or should Cliffjumper transform into an properly scaled actual Porsche that transforms into his cartoon robot mode? What about Windcharger? Should he transform into an actual 80s Camaro or a super deformed one?

Blaster should 100% have a unique alt-mode.

What I think is crazy is that they haven't done many fictional alt-mode Transformers yet in the Masterpiece line aside from a small handful like Grimlock, Star Saber, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Soundwave, and Shockwave (though I still want a real world Optimus Prime truck mode if they do a 3rd version). Where are the 1986 Movie characters like Scourge, Cyclonus, Galvatron, Kup, Blurr, Arcee, Gnaw/Sharkticon, the Insecticons, and so on? I love the licensed vehicles, but I could really go for an every other new mold release being a licensed vehicle and a fictional vehicle.

I didn't specify "G1 toy" :)

However, something along his Classics Universe, Henkei, or Generations head, as well as the Q-Sunstreaker head, that was inspired by the G1 head would be more than welcome!
