HASBRO INVITES TRANSFORMERS FANS TO CREATE MASSIVE TRANSFORMERS CHARACTER TO ENLIST IN THE COMBINER WARS

Fans Can Soon Create an All New Transformers Character in “Fan Built Combiner Poll”

Pawtucket, R.I. (January 15, 2015) —TRANSFOMERS fans around the world are invited to help create a new character for the popular TRANSFORMERS brand — but not just any character. Following on the heels of the 30th anniversary “Fan Built Bot” poll, which led to the fan-assisted creation of the popular new AUTOBOT character, WINDBLADE, Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) is launching the new “Fan Built Combiner” poll. This crowdsourcing project seeks fan input to create a new team of TRANSFORMERS robots that combine into one giant new character in celebration of the theme of the 2015 TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS line, COMBINER WARS!

Starting soon, with exact dates to be announced, the official TRANSFORMERS brand app (formerly the official TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION app) will be updated and fans will be able to log-in and answer a round of questions to help shape the identity of the new Combiner characters. The Fan Built Combiner poll will allow fans to determine everything from the types of vehicles involved, to whether the characters will be AUTOBOTS or DECEPTICONS, and eventually the name of the new character.

Voting for each round will be open for one week, after which the results will be announced and a new round of voting will begin the following week, with three rounds of questions in all. A full reveal of the new Fan Built Combiner is expected later this year, with the character available as a toy in 2016.

“The first ‘Fan Built Bot’ effort was massive, resulting in the creation of WINDBLADE who has her own widely popular comic series from IDW Publishing and toy product,” said Tom Warner, senior vice president of the TRANSFORMERS franchise at Hasbro. “With the TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS: COMBINER WARS line celebrating the venerable COMBINER characters from throughout TRANSFORMERS history this year, this is the perfect time to let fans help create something even bigger than a new TRANSFORMERS character — a Combiner team that will become part of TRANSFORMERS lore.”

The new “Fan Built Combiner” character will be part of the TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS: COMBINER WARS toy line. Like all the toys in the line, which debut in stores this month, the new Combiner figure will be able to mix-and-match limbs with other figures in the line so kids and fans can create their own custom TRANSFORMERS COMBINERS figures.

To participate in the vote, fans will need to download the free official TRANSFORMERS brand app on iOS (http://hasb.ro/TF4APAIT514) and Android (http://hasb.ro/TF4APAS514). Starting with the Fan Built Combiner update, launching soon, the refreshed app will become the premiere destination for TRANSFORMERS fans and will feature first-look and behind-the-scenes images and information on new TRANSFORMERS: GENERATIONS toys. I don't know about you all, but I would love to see something based on the movie line. Any thoughts?

I'd like to submit ideas if nothing else I always thought a 'deception elite' team would make a great combiner set. A team of 5 Decepticon experts who are warriors and specialists without peer in both combat and strategy. And their combined mode, while not as big as some others, is even more dangerous because they function as a true unified gestalt without any of the mental deficiency of the other combiners. This enables the whole of their combined mode (both physical and mental) to become greater than the sum of their parts. The gestalt is therefore not only stronger than smaller cybertronians, but smarter, more ruthless and more skilled.

I'd have to dredge up my old notes and sketches, but I remember one of them was based off the G1 seeker mold from the animated series (that triangle shaped flying vehicle), named "Voidflight". It had two flying vehicles forming the arms, two heavy ground vehicles forming the legs, and a VTOL heavy gunship for the center/body.

I had the same idea!!! I'd love to see a G1 Seeker combiner out of the Aerialbot mold that best fits (Air Raid?). With just one resculpted head... and maybe Darkwing for the center portion from Silverbolt??? Cool idea, and Deceptions to flesh out the ranks for Megatron.

If they don't do it, I may have to do one myself.

For a nice color combination and integrated look for the finished bot, I could see:

Hotlink (purple seeker)

A agree with both shockwave and Gothsaurus. I think a "Decepticon Specialists" team would be quite cool, and would be much appreciated as my collection is a bit autobot heavy currently, a combiner would really help flesh out the Decepticon ranks.

Still, if I could vote I'd go for beasts/insects or trains or 1940's vehicles or something. And make them all lady bots.

When I was younger my brother and I tried to make the Throttlebots into a combiner. Rollbar and Searchlight were the legs, Wideload was the hips, Goldbug was the chest and Freeway and Chase were the arms

I think they will do the Predacons and/or Abominus/Terrorcons at some point, so there's no 'need' for them to make a beast related fan made combiner - the pre existing beast related combiners are probably sufficient. Or at least I'd LIKE to see a Terrorcon set that doesn't suck (like the TF Prime Beast Hunter Abominus)

I think some of us are forgetting that these have to be repaints/retools of the revealed Combiner Wars vehicles. (ie. completely changing to animals or movie aesthetics can't happen.)

But maybe with enough interest we might see more molds on the horizon. Here's hoping.

On that note, would love a good-sized Monstructor.

Just as long as we get Decepticons, they can transform into non-vehicular forms and I'll still be a happy fan. If the rumors are to be believed, the Decepticon gestalts are outnumbered 3:2. Plus, we already got ourselves an Autobot in last year's Fan Built poll. Let the 'Cons have a turn!

Yeah, I wonder how much retooling it would take to pull some girls out of these molds. (While it's my personal taste, I DO prefer they put a little more effort in than just adding some lipstick or a girly bio on a toy.)

I want a hedgehog and a fox for arms. Make em blue and orange and red and orange respectively. a nice grey Ox called Stampede for one of the legs....or wait!

how about a phoenix, a dragon, a unicorn, a pegasus (nifty remold of the horney horsey) and hydra as the body?

although I'd realistically settle for a nice mix of Con alt modes with maybe a tank or something big and hefty like that as leader, a jet of some kind, a truck, a car and a helicopter or something. Swap out one of the ground vehicles for a cool sea vehicle and I'd be all for it. Maybe make the leader a Hiss Tank and base the rest off of Cobra vehicles?

Oh wait thought of something if the options are available, Fembot, Nautical vehicles , at least one of them purple, maaaaaybe we could fudge something?

I would suggest that the best way to handle this poll is to do so in a manner that assures that we get brand new molds. A combiner that uses cars / jets would results in repaints of figures that we already have. Let's look beyond the combiners that already exist in Generation 1 and come up with a combiner made up of molds that are brand new (this will also result in repaints of said new molds as well, more than likely).
