Whirl stinks!

And I mean that in a literal way. He really truly stinks!

I busted him out of his packaging this morning (for those who are following ... Magnus is still boxed!) and immediately the smell hit me.

But I figured, new toy, these smells happen. Now that he's out of the box it'll get better.

Boy was I wrong.

I went to work, my town house was locked up for about 12 hours, hot summer day, place heated up, by the time I came home the smell has now taken over downstairs.

Whatever plastic they've used for him, he well and truly bloody stinks. Think I'm going to sit him outside overnight in an effort to air him out.

That is... strange...

Mine was fine, smelled like every other tf toy I've ever bought. Wonder what happened to yours for that to happen.

Maybe you should wash him in hot soapy water as well, just to be safe

Yeah, talk about weird. Didn't realize that figures can smell right out the box. I mean, there's always the new-toy smell, but obviously that ain't it. Throw some Febreeze on it?

Agreed with CP; this seems to be a singular occurrence.
Good luck with the cleansing though.

A bit of the ABS PVC stink but non that I can't tolerate. Must be the phthalates or the lack of it.

I should have mentioned that it was Takara's version.

Left him out overnight. Now I can't go out my front door.

I've never heard of such a thing.

Perhaps Whirl has switched tactics and is using chemical warfare now.

Really weird stuff! Reminds me of the Think Geek package padding that they mention to be "filled with monkey's breath" or something like that.

Also weird it would linger all the way from the factory since even sealed TF packages aren't airtight. Maybe someone BM'd in that batch of plastic.

So you're sharing with the neighbours?

Damn straight. And he's staying out there for now because the air-con is on and I'm sure as hell not opening a door right now to let any of the precious cool air out.

Burn, this is the strangest thing I've ever heard.
If I were you I would start to take it personally.
Maybe Magnus can defeat the the evil odor.

NO! Magnus is tucked away safely. He should not be released at this time. The stench would seep through his plastic and he would start stinking, finally making the toy live up to the cartoon character.

Honestly, I think Burn is a victim of random Takara trolling.

Then again, maybe he deserves it for buying a piece of crap like Whirl in the 1st place. >:oP

I've had that issue with many toys, but never TF's. The Funko Game of Thrones wave made our entire apartment smell like weed.

I wouldn't call him a piece of crap as such (crap smells nicer), but as a "modern update" goes ... it's not much of an update.

Damnit Hasbro, leaving out stuff the Takara has again. When you gonna give us the smell, Hasbrah?

Magnus is the only one where I've ever noticed a smell.

So you can't go out your front door because he smells that much?

Yep, opened the front door and could smell him.

Moved him to the garage. Still reasonably airy, and won't have to worry about someone knocking him off.
