What do you mean by the display model?

It was used in the store under a glass case to show off the figures, sort of like how Toysrus has those completed lego sets behind plastic in a display case with lights beaming down on them to show off the set with a push of a button to get a soundclip of the features

Ah, I see. Hand-painted prototype like at SDCC and stuff, or did they just take a normal one out of the box and put it in the case?

they took a normal one out of the box I believe, it was the cheaper option on that site so i bit, I mean I wanted a Grand Galvatron, to complete my collection and have an even number of cons and bots on combiner forms

Is it Mega-Dinobot? :-?

On topic, if they do decide to do PotP figures in a UW reboot that would be pretty interesting. I wonder if they would ever go about doing Liokaiser or any of his retooled components to pad the line? Personally I think it would be kinda funny if they just repainted them all into generic off-model background characters.

Also, something that just occurred to me, probably because I've been on a Go! kick lately:

Autobot team
Kenzan - Prowl mold (might be fine as is)
Genbu - Hot Spot mold (needs two new heads)
Jinbu - Curse Armada Thrust mold
Hishoumaru - Guyhawk mold
Sensuimaru - Skyburst mold (yep)
Gekisoumaru- TM Sawback vehicle mold (I guess...)

Oni team
Dragotron - Dezarus mold (combined either a new Guren Dragotron or Goradora head)
Gaidora - Drillhorn mold
Bakudora - Air Raid mold (new head)
Judora - Fellbat mold
Budora - Blades mold (maybe a new head)

Dunno, just having a little fun. Maybe revisit this after a few waves of PotP and do proper monsters.

I kinda want a Grand Galvatron- the colours look so damn cool, and even if I never combined them into Grand Galvatron himself, the limbs can always go to other figures. Case in point, I'm planning on customizing three Skydives into Seekers with Shapeways upgrades, so I could use Thrust as a 4th limb and Cyclonus as a torso. Though saying that, GG looks awesome enough as he is. Not sure what version of the PE hands and feet I'd go for, though. A shame they never made translucent versions, as they'd be pretty awesome on him.

You may be on to something here with the Oni team... :-?

I can already tell you that Unite Warrior will get a continuation at some point, with two teams from PotP aching to be used ;)

And even if all we get from Go! is a Goradora set repainted/retooled from PotP Abominus that would be like the Baldigus of the next run of UW. I could totally go for that. Maybe make it some alternate reality version that Grand Scourge brings back to seek revenge against Black Convoy and Baldigus.

Looking back at Curse Armada Thrust I can't help but wonder something: why did they decide on giving 'ol Squidhead a mouth instead of his usual faceplate?

His original figure had a faceplate and if I remember correctly in the Armada cartoon he always had the faceplate too. So is the mouthed headsculpt a reference to something else? Or did they just decide to give him one because it's a new body and for the sake of the story?

It's an artifact of its original intended use. Aside from Groove, Blast Off and Computron, all of the molds used in Unite Warriors came as designed by Hasbro. In other words, the Starscream and Conehead heads are the pretooled alternates for the Skydive and Air Raid molds, so it's more than likely that the G1 versions (or any derivative thereof) were intended and not Armada.

He's pretty cool. I like the Cyclonus body, although I prefer Cyclonus in purple, so I have both versions.
I also swapped Roller for :HASBRO: Offroad, to keep him 100% :CON: , and put Roller on :TAKARATOMY: Grand Prime. I used Prowl on Battle Core Prime instead to make a custom combiner with all white members (Alpha Bravo, Prowl, Rook, Ratchet). (My :TAKARATOMY: Lynxmaster now has :HASBRO: Smokescreen, like his US counterpart, Defensor has Groove of course, and Superion has Slingshot)

Pretty good. He's the same as the other plane deluxes, with the soft plastic tailfins, and a liiiitle bit loose at the legs, but he looks cool. Deluxe size for Starscream is a bit small though, but meh. You also get Thrust in Armada colours apparently (never saw Armada on TV). So he's a weird combiner, but I just liked having him. Finally an actual bot-form for Roller.

Well based on the leaks from July 24th, and what was revealed at Hascon for most of the first two waves of Hasbro's PotP line....I wanted to throw out some speculation. This is not based on anything solid, but obviously fans in this thread, like myself , would hope that :TAKARATOMY: decides to bring back the UW line. Looking back at the comparisons of CW & UW we can see that some characters (Superion) were pretty much the same (different colored HFG and a few paint apps), and some were radically different (Megatronia). Some were released more than 6 months after their :HASBRO: counterparts, and some within a month....So all kinds of crazy things could happen. But if theres one thing I know, its to trust :TAKARATOMY: , they for the most part, knocked it out of the park when it came to UW, and I have full confidence they could do the same...Here is my speculative timeline *if* they were going to bring this line back.

First announcements would be hopefully be in December or January (the classic black image), so fans in the US can prepare and see if they would need to get any figures from the first PotP wave.

Predictions:

Dinobot Combiner (June 2018)
Starscream Combiner (August 2018)
Abominus (October 2018)
Predaking (December 2018)
Elita-1 Combiner (February 2019)
Inferno Combiner (April 2019)

I just made this list based on the known product coming for PotP. I could easily see however :TAKARATOMY: taking the last one and making it a Car Robots Combiner (Fire Convoy, the 3 Autobot Bros, and one other), as a counter to Baldigus.

Also, hopefully what was revealed in the leaks is not the entirety of the PotP line....I'd love to see Piranacon (would be released as King Poseidon by :TAKARATOMY: ), and Monstructor (again released as Dinoking)

Also since :HASBRO: set the precedent of releasing LioKaiser (albeit inaccurate) in CW, that means no Japanese Combiner is off the table.

Raiden
Road Caesar
Land Cross.....Hopefully we could see them as well at some point.

So...I've been holding off on the last two UW sets because well...a lack of funds, and fortunately they are not hard to get. (I'm so glad I followed through on my Computron pre-order).

Based on my above post, I'm guessing it will be next summer before if/when we may see a return of this line from Takara. So there is still no hurry, these sets in some places like BBTS seem to hang around for a while. Still all the same, I look for a steal of a deal if I can get one.

Currently the least expensive Megatronia I can find is a couple of sellers on eBay would be about $155 USD (after tax/shipping), the cheapest Baldigus I can find would be on BBTS which would be $164 USD (after shipping)...I'd like to see if I can find a better deal on either of these...Can anyone suggest any sites? I've checked most of the sponsored ones here, any assistance is appreciated. Thank You.

That deal on Megatronia is the best one you will find at the moment.

So I meant to point this out last week, but was busy with work and Thanksgiving and other stuff, plus the news submission form wasn't working for me (no Captcha). So this isn't exactly timely, but I wanted to point out just the same that for Black Friday Takara Tomy Mall put Convoy Grand Prime, Grand Galvatron, and Megatronia back up for sale and they all sold out pretty quickly despite orders being open to 12/8. It's just nice to see TT keeping UW fresh in peoples minds, bodes well for their version of PotP.

^ Nice. That would explain why some sites were discounting Megatronia pretty cheap (which I took advantage of ;)^ ). But I haven't seen any new Convoys or Galvatrons on any sites. If they do come up, they are still in the $250-$300 range on eBay...Now thankfully I already have them, but I know there are probably still quite a few people out there that would like to have them.

The unite warriors toys are still available at around their original retail prices on the secondary japanese market

http://jungle-scs.co.jp/sale_en/?page_i ... 1000064053

Anyone who wants Megatronia right now could get her for the exact same price she cost on BBTS once shipping is included.

No need to spend $250-$300 on eBay :)

Well it's been a while, but if anyone feels like they missed out on UW, looks like a couple are being re-released in January 2019 (Superion, which is at his original retail price, and Devastator, for slightly higher than originally released)
