When they make the Generations G1 Predacons what do you think they will be like, and how would you like them to be?

What repaints can they make from them?

I want them to be the same size as the Scramble City combiners. I know the toys were bigger than most other Transformers, but in the fiction they are usually the same size as the regular Transformers. So I want Razor Claw to be voyager size and the rest of the team to be deluxe size.

I like that Devastator is bigger than the regular Transformers. They are construction vehicles (I know the planes are the same size as cars, but I am ignoring that) and the combined mode was always giant. So bigger individual robots and bigger combined mode works for me as a re-imagining.

I would guess that they will repaint them as Autobots, just like they did with the FOC Wreckers, and CW Prime. If not at retail then at least as an exclusive. Thus the five would be:

Leo Prime
Silverbolt or Air Razor
Tigatron
Rhinox
Longhorn

Actually, the Predacons are often depicted as slightly larger than Scramble City, almost Devastator sized. So I'd rather see a set of Voyagers, myself.

I like the idea of having BW repaints of the Predacons (wait a minute...). I mean giving us the Preds next year at all is the least they can do to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of Beast Wars. Peersonally I'd like a new Tripredacus or Magnaboss since I got the Platinum Predaking a few years ago.

Wait, is this confirmed? Also are we refering to a rerelease or a new mold?

It's a "what if" type of thread, and I'm assuming we're talking new molds :)

Exactly. Thank you for clarifying Jelze!

It is funny, I couldn't just say Predacons because that could mean Beast Wars Predacons, so I put in the G1, but that does sound like re-issue.

Yes, an update, brand new molds. Not confirmed or even rumored, but I am sure they will do so eventually.

Predaking's the one that should have been titan sized, not Devastator, he's the real "big guy" combiner. Devastator's toy wasn't really any bigger than a scramble city combiner, just big in people's minds because he was first. I wonder would a leader + 4 voyagers work? That's what I'd hope for anyway. Not holding my breath, tho.

Frankly I'm not expecting CW to include him, even at regular size, since the others are using some degree of redecos, and he doesn't fit in with the vehicles. Maybe if they were gonna do Abominus, but they just did a version of him for BH and it would still be a stretch to remold enough. Seacons and Monstructor... nah, don't see it.

Maybe if they could make some sort of new 5 animal Autobot guy, like Leo Prime in place of Razorclaw, but that's still.. I just don't see them going that way unless CW stretches out to more than one year.

Even the originals were big back in those days. I shudder to think if they make the transform size combiner even more proportional.

I agree. I think this is a re-imaging. Altering things to how they think they should have been. Not trying for any kind of accuracy to how things were years ago.

.

FOC Bruticus had limited redecos and they made him. Brainstorm and Rhinox have limited redecos, if any, but they made all of them. I fully believe they will update/remake all of the original Transformers. I bet we get them in 2-4 years.

Okay Valandar, fair point. I am going off my memory, and memory is not perfectly accurate. Then there is interpretation, and interpretations can be different. Then there is the history of Transformers; size is one of the most inconsistent things among Transformers.

You might be right. What we need is a thorough investigation into their depiction over the years. Which I don’t have the ability to do right now.

I will make my case, which might be wrong. But this is what I was seeing and thinking:

Jazz Spotlight. – Jazz fights with the Predacons, I thought Jazz was the same size as all of them in that comic. Jazz was a deluxe toy in the Generations line (technically RTS, but it is Gen to me), thus the Predacons are also deluxe size. On the cover Razor Claw is a little taller, but I interpreted that as being closer to the viewer. Also, Razor Claw’s leg is huge because it is closer. Thus he is deluxe size. If anything, Razor Claw is voyager and the rest of the team is still deluxe.

In the Megatron comic when he is a Stealth Bomber, Razor Claw is about the same size as the other Decepticons. He is the same size as Skywarp, maybe a little taller but not really a class size bigger. Definitely taller than Shrapnel, insecticons could be scout/basic. He could be a little taller, like the Cyclonus deluxe toy was tall, so easily a deluxe could, just as easily be a voyager.

In on-going #13 he is the same size as Rodimus and Starscream, both had deluxe Generations toys, Starscream three in fact: Classics, FOC, and Armada.

In all of RID Starscream is the same size as Wheeljack, Prowl, Ironhide, etc. thus making the case that he is deluxe toy size. I have never seen them tower over the others like the Constructicons do in RID.

To Val’s point – Rampage fights Optimus on the cover of on-going #11, rampage is the same size as Optimus, which would imply that they are both voyagers. But sometimes Op is a deluxe.

I own a poster with Predaking substantially larger than the Scramble City combiners.

I guess it depends on if you believe/expect Rodimus, and the Seekers to be deluxe size or voyager size toys. I have seen a lot of fans calling for Rodimus and the Seekers to be voyager size. I totally accept and respect people wanting them to be voyagers.

I’m not trying to argue against anyone, I am just supporting why I can see them as 4 deluxes and 1 voyager. I am not opposed to them being 4 voyagers and 1 leader.

If they do Beast Wars remolds, they would have to do so real retooling so that they look like organic animals as opposed to the mechanical animals the Predacons were.

I don't remember who said it, way back in one of these threads, but they talked about Predacon and Dinobot combiners and retools into the cassettes which could be a cool idea.

Decepticon cassette combiner

Overkill - Grimlock retool
Slugfest - Snarl retool
Ravage - Rampage retool
Laserbeak - Divebomb retool
Ratbat - Swoop retool

Autobot cassette combiner

Steeljaw - Razorclaw retool
Ramhorn - Headstong retool
Sunder - Divebomb retool
Saur - Sludge retool
Graphy - Swoop retool
or
Raindance - Air Raid retool
Grand Slam - Rook retool

If they did Dinobots and Predacons, I wouldn't put it past them to regigger the whole lot into a Monstructor set thinking those characters looks aren't as iconic and they could take some liberties.

Rather they look like G1. Think HasTak can do a repurposed Beast Wars Maximal combiner later. my Maximal dream team would be, Lio Convoy, Rhinox, Airazor, Beast Machines Long Horn. Thinking they could repaint the Cat bot in Cheetor, Tigatron and Shadow panther.

Funny thing is, I think Monstructor may have a better chance at getting remade since he's already in IDWs comics. The Predacons, at least according to the wiki, have yet to show any sort of ability to combine.

No mass shifting! I write a full page and you refute it in one sentence! Awwwww!

Mass shifting explains a lot of it. Also the writers are focused on story telling and not accuracy. They have been better about mass shifting recently, but nice answer.

Seriously. Again, I also take into account "suspended belief" Similar to what I posted in CW thread.

We all know that Skyfire is bigger than Megs and Prime. Those two leaders are already big in their scale. The Seekers too, more or less the shock/storm troopers of the 'cons are a bit as tall as Megs.

I always wondered why Dev is just about a certain size when construction vehicles are fairly larger that regular vehicles. Same with Predaking. Mind you, I am not against the view you are making. Iirc, it was DW who created that awesome poster of him whooping Defensor and Superion's butt.

So, depending on how the writers framed in, the Predacons in their beast modes are supposed to be gigantic analogs of the wild creatures on Earth, so, guessing to be the size of a standard cybertronian (the Seeker type maybe?) then yes, this guy will indeed be a behemoth if they, Hasbro go the CW Devs route in making a modern Predaking update which I also look forward to.

You know what, that's what it is. Hasbro is just making toys and the story tellers are telling stories, sometimes with voyagers, or leaders, or deluxes. We can't get a straight answer because there isn't a straight answer. The comic is going to be different from the video game which will be different from the cartoon, which may or may not match the toys. The Seekers can be the same size as cars on Cybertron because they aren't fighter planes and cars on earth, no mass shifting needed. They are just both standard size, one flies one rolls. So then Hasbro and or the writers have to pick a size for some of the other characters.
