Im asking this because i have one and while i dont collect Decepticons ( I only collect Autobots ) All my friends had trouble finding it when it first came out. Did anyone else have this problem? I didnt think it was rare or anything.

I have two. Not rare at all, at least not where I live.

The Combiner helicopter?

Yeah i picked one up. but he was kind of hard to find. For the longest time all i saw where the orange re-paint Vortex/Ctormcloud.

The Purple color scheme works way better than the orange one.

But yeah I really never saw many Blackouts, while Vortexes... Vortex? were a dime a dozen. Don't know why.

Blackout first appeared as a hellacopter in Transformers: Energon (2005) tv show. It was purple and black.

Wasn't there actually a G1 Blackout, who was also a helicopter?

I only saw Energon Blackout once in stores, and regret not getting him, because I never saw him again. I have the orange version instead.

Well, first of all, Energon distribution was horrible in general. I'm sure that anyone who actually completed that line will vouch for that.

As the combiners were released, Hasbro decided to split up the limb-combiner distribution times...using Energon Bruticus for example:

First, just Stormcloud(orange 'copter) and the green tank(I forget the name right now) were released two each per Basic case, as well as the torso(Barricade), one per Deluxe case.

Then, about two mos later, Blight and Blackout were released one per case, along with the earlier two, which were also one per case.

The above assortment was the last Basic assortment of the Energon line, hence generally making Blight and Blackout harder to come by than their predecessors.

Are they rare? Not per se, and definitely not in the sense of "I can put him on ebay and make a million dollars." But they are definitely nowhere near as common as the first-released limbs.

Also, unlike the E-Aerialbots and Constructicons, they never saw a later release in Universe packaging, which were sold at Dollar stores.

PorQPine is right on. I have him though.

I saw a few out there - but I saw way more orange 'copters for way longer.....

Yeah Energon was horribly distributed, especially to the mother land.

I got 1 Blackout, that was it...

and one part from Devastator, and two parts from Superion, but that's it :(

I managed to only Get 8 limbs all together out of the 12 possible limbs. However, 2 of those limbs are the same one sledge (Never found the Bonecrusher repaint of Sledge).

Horrible distribution yes, most of the time I only saw one color scheme of each limb. It was rare when I saw both.

Only Blackout once which I picked up, and Treadshot also once, but I did not pick him up.

No the only other figures to have the Blackout name was a Micromaster who came with Spaceshot and a tank playset, Demolishor's Minicon in Armada and Energon, and the movie figure of course.

PorQPine, the tank's name is Kickback (my favorite version)

I lucked out and found an Energon Blackout when they were first discovered but they were alot less prevalent than Stormcloud though.
