Retailer Amiami has a new listing for a Kabaya series of "blind box" PVC figures named the D Collection. The series features the three classic G1 characters Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream with varied accessories and clear "chase" versions. Most wont be surprised that they have limited articulation (neck, arms, and waist), but they will only be retailing for roughly $25 for a case of 8. I'm surprised (and happy) to see no Bumblebee in this. These actually look pretty sweet!

These sure beat the hell out of the blind pack figures that I've been getting individually at the local 7-11 and which are sold in box sets at the TRU down the road. I love the styling of these compared to most that have come out in recent years for this size range.

Agreed, it looks a lot more crisp in the stock photos. Also didn't realize how small these guys are.

It almost looks like there were two different types of plastic or surface skin/finish used in the stock vs in-hand versions.

Weren't these supposed to have multiple face-plates too?

The silver plastic is a little more "swirly" than the final figures, but otherwise they look identical to me, I don't see the problem.

I'm not really sure what people were expecting from these, they're just something cheap kids can get from a super market or convenience store. I don't know what the individual MSRP is, but in bulk it breaks down to only 388jpy/US$3.25 each, much less if you got them from AmiAmi or HLJ where they'd be as low as US$2.75. For what they are they're very impressive. Those barely painted RID Tiny Titan figures are US$2-US$2.50 each, I think these Japanese figures are way better for the price.

And no face plates, you're confusing these for the D-Style model kits

Thanks for clearing all that up, Emerje.
I like that Megatron and especially like that Ghost Starscream. I'm guessing you're lucky to get the clear version but it looks like maybe a 50/50 chance on Megartron.
If your price presumption is even off by half it still might be worth trying to pick them up.

They look cute.

How is it that they do the faces on these Deformed bots a lot more G1 accurate than on the normal Transformers figures?

The Deformed kits have great G1 faces/heads.
