I wonder what is with Hasbro's sudden interest in CB figures? Between this and them selling a bunch of individual retail versions on Pulse it feels like they're trying to find ways to get rid of leftover stock.

I'm assuming that would be leftover stock that was never packaged, right?

Exactly, not unboxing existing packaged stuff, but trying to find a way to get rid of stuff taking up space in a warehouse somewhere that they never used. This was supposed to be the line aimed at low income regions, but with Authentics making it redundant they might have ended up with leftovers.

Except that some of these, namely Starscream have different paint decos now.

Indeed, this is more likely a newly produced batch.

Seriously, is storing toys that are made of multiple parts not in their packaging an actual thing?

You're going to have to point out the differences because comparing the Amazon images to the old stock photos to in hand images on BWTF I can't spot a single difference on any of them. They're identical all the way down to the use of silver.

I never heard of that before.

I'll have to check with my original Starscream but I remember there being a lot more teal.

Protoman, a friend of mine, was saying how this boxset could be a taste of what might become of the hobby later. As online retail becomes more and more prominant and brick and mortar stores shrink to only keep shelfspace for items not suited for a warehouse (ie groceries), toys could end up being online only. Plus with the lack of shelf presence, the toys would just be in a brown box. The retail site's search engine would show parents what's available to order (reminds me of the old sears catalogue) for kids in the age range they selected and you'd always have some transformers product available. Like how Amazon has their essentials, which are cheaper alternatives not meant for brick and mortar retail, that are usually in stock.

Imagine if entire lines become "brown box" only, collecting sealed boxes will be as irrelevant as ever.

Already happened for the selects line. Makes me wonder if anyone is collecting sealed boxes of those.

I know about Select, of course, but I also wonder if anyone is collecting... brown boxes. :-?

My point was mostly about a main line like Generations or Studio Series... Or God forbid, MASTERPIECE.

I got the Sideswipe from this line as part of the Pulse sale, and he is pretty fun. I am really enjoying him, he's fun. He's not your standard Sideswipe, but I am enjoying him. I love the alt mode particularly.

He's more like Sidebreaker or Windswipe, or maybe Sidewind or Swipebreaker? Do you have Prowl? I like the looks of him more overall.

I love these figures but it looks like Hasbro went all in on Authentics.

Yeah, not quite Sideswipe, but I still like him.

This is the only figure from the line I own
