I am sure it is possible but then that raises one's full cost of the figure. You still lack the bicep swivel and it is still a relatively simple and hollow toy. So is it really worth putting extra money into it on our end? He looks good on a shelf wihout adding any work or money.

How much more could some shapeways knees cost? 10 bucks? Sure I could stand him on a shelf but why not have more? Its only money, you only live once. Ten bucks wont make or break me.

We're not talking adding spoiler or new rims to a car here.

If you'd like to pay almost $30 for a cheap placeholder which will likely get a real Voyager or Leader class Shockwave soon after then so be it.

But for me.... Take Grimlock for example. When FOC Grimlock released, I bought it. Then the TRU gold version released with that Movie OP came out so I bought that to. Then that Iron factory upgrade release and I grab that and added to the TRU exclusive FOC Grimlock and it's been my Stand in Grimlock ever since. Meanwhile that POTP Grimlock is a stubby mess that I have no interest in combining. So I skipped it an only want the 4 deluxe Dinobots (well only Sludge and Snarl now) to go with Slash.

Point being is that I'm no longer buy just anything that Hasbro makes anymore. My Sig is proof of how happy I use to be with random Shockwave's in the past but for now on I'm no longer settling.

Sure, but that still becomes an upscaled legends toy for 27$. Well look to each's own, I just dont feel adding knees (for 10$ no less) will make this figure that much better than before.

Though I do agree that elbows did make all the difference with Combiner Wars scrapper. I am glad to know you will be enjoying this toy to its fullest :)

I really dont think theres a cospircy theory. Especially when this particular toyline was never meant for either US distribution or a collector market.

Take it easy there. You’re literally yelling at your computer about a toy legitimately made for 4 year olds.

Yeah, well I'm not giving a 4 year old a kneeless figure that costs almost 20 bucks. But feel free to justify lackluster crap all you want.

He's not justifying it, it's literally why hasbro made this line, the target audience is children, I imagine it would be a lead in from rescue bots toys, then going into either movie toys or other generations figures. It's not targeting collectors like us...not that it will stop the few of us who just want it for display purposes so find a knee joint not needed.

A temporary placeholder for $5 even $10 till Hasbro makes a real one? Sure.... But not $17 in irritating Walgreen toy sections. NOPE!

Then you don't have to get it :-) other people will and will have fun knowing the flaws.

And who said I was stopping you....Buy 20 of'em.

Why do you have to be so condescending about our opinions? You claim to not be but your attitude on the sites says otherwise.

Who the heck would buy 20 of these anyways there is no troop building potential in this people would only buy 1 or 2 at most.

Oh I know but I guess my point was muddled. You complain about it but failed to see that we were never meant to get this. If any collector in the West buys it, it'll be a bonus.

Got to ask though, from what you said youngprime, what was the straw that broke the camels back for you regarding hasbro?

I don't care about the lack of knees, I've got plenty of figures that have knees that are useless. In the end, it's a $17 figure that fills a much needed spot in my collection and doesn't look awful. I've got plenty of more expensive figures that I don't want to transform like alpha trion, broadside, T30 doubledealer, classics Ironhide,

This is probably the best comment I've read about this. Enjoy getting him :-)

I wouldn't mind getting him either Shockwave isn't a character I think that needs to be in super dynamic poses considering how stoic he is and how sometimes he's just an over glorified secretary like the G1 toon.

I also either leave my figures on shelfs and battle scene replications and only pick them up to fiddle or Transform so no knees is fine.

Erm, technically there is since Shockwave can make duplicates of himself, according his profile in the G1 cartoon's production bible (and which the Devastation game made actual use of this ability).

I had no idea that was even a thing.

I guess you could but really who is gonna do that though?

I think the CW Shockwave figure would be much better to do that with but then again besides a toy bio and one game the ability is non existent so I don't think many would do troop build Shockwave.

These aren't made for 4 year olds, or any specific age demographic for that matter. They're not made for most of us here at all. The Cyber series is made for countries (usually parts of Asia and places south of the USA) where the average family can't afford to buy a bunch of very expensive toys for their kids. This gives them a decent figure at a good size and a much more affordable price. I'm sure it isn't by chance that these showed up at Walgreens since they're probably the biggest market six store that would attract low income families.

One very popular game, though.

Additionally, Aligned Shockwave likewise had a bunch of avatars of himself made and stationed all over Cybertron to both carry out his work on a planet-wide scale and to protect his true self from harm, according to his claim in the final issue of the Rage of the Dinobots comic mini-series.

I don't think Devastation was that popular though.

Anyways it's weird I read that comic but still never knew about Shockwave's ability until today.

Eh, if only he had knees I "might" be interested. The lack of decent, properly scaled shockwaves given the ubiquity of the character never fails to surprise me.

The closest I've been able to get to a good shockwave that fits in my neo g1/IDW collection was the FoC deluxe, which is a bit too small. Thankfully, I was able to grab Energon Shockblast a year ago on eBay for $25. He may not be accurate, but he still looks great, and, if I ever get the urge, I can slap a couple shapeways upgrades and some paint in him.

This ^

He looks awesome! And a great size to go with the other leader type bots.
I don't care that much for the knees.
I also love the spider tank Shockwave, I might get 3 so this voyager sized has a little army.

Hey guys, do you member back in the day where we had Armada Sideswipe, who looked nothing like g1 Sideswipe and had no knees?
Do you member Energon Hot Shot, who looked like a yellow lego brick?
Do you guys member RID Ultra Magnus, that had huge hollow legs and was nothing more than an armor drone for Optimus.
Do you guys member Galvatron being a Megatron repaint?
Do you guys member Megatron not being grey?
Do you member everybody losing their sh*t for Energon combiners?

Sorry people, some might be too young for that. But Hasbro is seriously winning since Classics.
Generations, Combiner Wars (real combiners and lots of them!), Titans Return (a big ton of G1 figures, you people got headmaster/target master teams complete!), and now Power of the Primes bloody Hot Rod transforming into Rodimus Prime. It, I, nope. I can't say anything bad about Hasbro, too much awesomeness and way to much win. For me it's like 80%+ are totally awesome they make and I can't even keep up with the TF's that are great, I buy like 3 almost weekly.

Sorry for da long rantu.

You guys seem to forget the pretty amazing Beast Hunters voyager Shockwave. The vehicle is forgettable, sure. But that bot mode is fantastic and could fit well in a Classic display. Also, optional "barbarian armor" if that's your thing.

It'll all cone to a head when hasbro declare Christmas 2 in March ;-)

(I love that movie and along with muppets it's one of my favourite Xmas movies that I have to make time for)

I wasn't posting here when jet fire and his mates were released so forgive me if it's dredging up old issues but did hasbro ever give a reason as to why the line is more or less exclusive to that region?

The Cyber Series is done by the Global Development Organization, which deals with markets like Asia and South America pretty much AFAIK.

Oh, there's no doubt that prime shockwave is great, I just don't think he fits in anywhere except prime. I actually like his alt mode a lot, but his weird insect head just doesn't fit in.

There is no "Camel". I've supported TF for over 30 years now and I've had a Decepticon Tat on my arm for almost 20 years.

That doesn't mean I can't call out Hasbro's BS when they sell it. H3ll, people have said the same things that I have on the podcast here.

In this particular case I'm simply singling out the notion that Hasbro clearly know's that Fans/collector's/kids want a "quality" Voyager class Generations Shockwave but instead of making one they dance around it by making half@ssed version's of the character to keep consumers buying the latest and somewhat updated versions.

Real talk! They could take this figure and put a little more effort in it and make it EPIC! But it feels like their Shareholder Meeting/discussions go like: "If people will buy this mediocre version for $17 then why bother making quality ones anytime soon?"

Same goes for that upcoming Cyberverse version.
