Congrats!

Are there any known differences between this release and the original Takara release of MP-18 aside from the box?

My poor TakaraTomy Streak/Bluestreak is still afflicted by the Nucleon and stuck in robot mode.
I miss transforming that guy.
That one issue is what's keeping me from jumping on the Blue Bluesteak before it's out of a reasonable price range forever.

This is literally the first time I've heard any mention of that issue, so thanks for mentioning it. It's like nobody wants to talk about the issues with MP molds, they either never mention the issues or they walk right past posts that attempt to discuss them. Silly, since we're collectors and we should be sharing these sorts of things openly and honestly. Like the crap red paint color matching across the panels on MP-12 Sideswipe, the ill-fitting door panels/gaps, and the paint defects common on all variations of MP-12, regular and the black Lambor model. Few will even acknowledge that. So strange. And we have a re-release of it coming up for the Asian market (and who knows, Hasbro might bring it here, too), but hardly anyone actually asks the important questions like is the paint application or the quality control any better on that re-issue, or are we just spending the same $70 to get the same crap paint quality that's not even acceptable for a KO let alone an official product.

Nice [TRU Timesquare on Broadway & 44th] If any of my Toy's R'us could look like that. Man....... SMH.
An I personally don't get it-- A Billion $$ dollar company can't try an keep 2 or 3 Different MP's in stock at all times. I don't think they know how much $$$ they're loosing; buy not keeping ALL they're stores shelves Stocked. God forbid they have more than 4 or 5 Voyager-class choices, 2 or 3 (platinum) reissues, A few MP's it would be nice too see alot of this, Just once on the shelf.
&
"Nucleon" hah.

How are taxes TRU fault? You can clearly see the retail price before taxes on the receipt.

He is referring to the price difference between canada and us. The Price after tax i the us is equal to the price before tax in canada, taking conversion into account. And he doesnt find that fair.

Don't act like y'all don't know. Our MP's cost more because of the taxes, WHICH cover the dog sled teams it takes to get them up here.

Woah woah woah, let's not revise history. The MP-12 QC was a huge let down when the toy first came out, there was a ton of discussion about it, just a firestorm for a bit. The tight joint being referred to on the Datsun mold is not universally so tight that you can't make it a car again, but it's definitely also been discussed a ton, and again, was so discussed at the time the first versions were released. The perception may be that these things are ignored, but it's pretty far from the truth, it's just that these are toys from October 2012 in Sideswipe's case and September 2013 in Prowl's case, and there isn't much else to be said about it that hasn't been.

In other words, I don't think anyone's ignoring or forgetting anything in an effort to be some Takara/Hasbro non-KO/3P White Knight, it's that nothing's being said because there is nothing else to say about it.

So that makes me curious: Since those MPs are that old and the first issue of them was so long ago, is there any evidence that Takara or Hasbro re-issues will be of any higher quality than the first runs?

Afaik the paint on subsequent runs of MP-12 were better. Not perfect, mind you, but better. Some of the first run Lambors are really bad. As far as molding, usually not much done there unless it's a total disaster warranting a second "Version", like MP-9, though the second version was still just as bad of a QC mess as the first, if not worse so who knows if it's even desirable for them to try

I only know this, the latest version of MP 12 (tf expo exclusive without tampograph) had really good paint apps.

So it turns out that the Starscream we are getting from TRU later this year does NOT come with the coronation gear which now remains TT exclusive:

I'm just happy to have another chance to get him at a decent price. Let's hope he doesn't have any of the screwy issues Sunstorm had.

I wouldnt expect it to be better. That mold has been a real let down. I am really surprised it gets so much love. What impreses me most about it and why I wouldnt mind getting it for cheap is it's ability to use the nosecone for the chest and not have kibble in back of it's head. But then again, Prime Dreadwing achieved it quite well.

All mold issues concerned, if he's sold at the same price Sunstorm was, its a STEAL compared to TT's.
