Building a Classivs-verse Neo-G2 collection

So I'm starting a "Neo-G2" collection out of Classics-verse figures, as the early to mid-90s were my prime time with Transformers as a kid.

So far I've got:
Ultimate Gift Set Jazz & Optimus
Generations Dreadwing
Generations Stealth Bomber Megatron (w/ G2 Reprolabels).
I could try to find the original Hasbro or Takara versions of the OP mould, and Reprolabel up the green GDO Megatron repaint of Bludgeon, but I kinda like the idea of both faction leaders being based on mostly unreleased designs.

Been considering repurposing the all shiny United version of classics Bee as the G2 version, will just need to give him a new sigil, or wait until my G2 MP Bee preorder is filled...

I have on the way from the TFSS G2 Starscream and Carzap, just bought Botcon Exclusive Electro(ns) and I've been looking at/saving for the Botcon G2 Redux kit, and other single exclusive releases like Rapido, Sideswipe, Turbomaster/Scorch and G2 Ramjet.

Are there any other current and past classics verse releases you guys think might suit being repurposed as a Neo G2 character?

I'm going to preface this with: Thanks for the galleries, Seibertron, I love these shots!

Universe 2003 Sideburn makes a passable G2 Sideswipe in car mode. The robot mode has entirely too much red though (which isn't too surprising, since it's literally just Super Sideburn, but with new paint on the car parts).
If you painted his chest black (and fists red and feet silver if you're a stickler for details), he'd be a dead ringer for G2 Sides, except for in the head of course.

Then there's PCC Leadfoot, for G2 Leadfoot. I display mine with his combiner mode head, which is more evocative of G2 Leadfoot. Also, dat lightpiping.

If I ever get around to teaching myself some painting techniques, he's on the top of my list to repaint in proper G2 colors.

Image

Next there's PCC Undertow, who's my G2 Manta Ray (sort of, I slapped a G2 Shatterd Glass 'Con symbol on him to explain away the different colors and Decepticon logos for the purposes of my headcannon  )

Image
Image

And rounding out the foursome, sort of, is the dual homage-ing GDO Powerdive! He's kinda rounding out the Decepticon end of the four Rotor Force members by homaging both Powerdive and Ransack together. G2 Powerdive is a green-and-black helicopter (Boeing-McDonnell-Douglas AH-64 Apache assault helicopter), while Ransack is a purple single-prop bomber (Chance Vought F4U Corsair). Also, I love GDO Powerdive's shark deco, that's just awesome.

Just for fun, group shots!

Although he's not technically a G2 release, consider the Action Master/Shattered Glass version of Thundercracker from BotCon a few years back. Action Masters may have been at the tail end of the G1 line, but those colors SCREAM mid-90's G2. He'll look right at home with TFCC G2 Ramjet and the upcoming TFSS 3.0 G2 Starscream.

I already have SG Thundercracker as part of my Seekerama, probably will stick him on the G2 shelf. Krok, Spinister will probably end up there too.

I've never been much into G2 stuff. The only things in my collection that might qualify as "Classics G2" are as follows:

Laser Optimus Prime, as a part of my Optimus Prime collection.

And for this one, I have to borrow an image from Reprolabels Toyhax, since I don't seem to have any good photos of my own copy of the toy. They have a sticker set to convert a Bayverse figure, Hubcap, into G2 Volt.

Image

I happened to have that figure, as it was one of the few non-Optimus Prime Bayverse figures to catch my eye. (And those few usually tended to be toy only characters, it seems.) And I also thought the sticker set looked cool, so I picked that up as well. Although on mine, I replaced the G2 faction stickers with G1 ones.

Another good idea on Hubcap-VOlt, thank you! Might be a bit shorter, but it'll be good to give Electro a partner. I've already got the Laser Prime mould (in the Combat Hero deco from the ultimate gift set) and I've been considering that Battle Tanker add on.

I've been looking at other G2 (and late G1 guys) and a few non-US releases, and here's a few more characters/figures that'll probably end up on the shelf:

G2 Roadblock: Takara TAV Roadblock will do nicely if I move him off the Classics shelf.
Machine Wars Mirage: I've got the Botcon Exclusive Mirage on the way, and it was apparently supposed to be a G2 release before getting postponed, so whatever, I'm open.
Thunderclash: I'm hoping that the white CW Prime repaint will be Thunderclash, or at least, repurposable as him.

On the Action Master front (why not?) like Thundercracker mentioned before, TFCC have Treadshot, Circuit, Jackpot (even if it's an animated mould) and Krok, of which Treadshot's the one I have to track down. The 2010 Axer might suit as well.

Back onto Dreading and ATB Megatron, Hastak really lost an opportunity to have the mould link up with a legends class figure...

There's a lot of fun G2 repurposes out there! Some not even mentioned in this thread yet aren't even "repurposes", just straight up "Neo" G2.

FoC G2 Bruticus - G2 Bruticus
Universe 2.0 Skyfall - Skyjack
DotM Space Case - Space Case
HftD Terradive or RotF Fearswoop - Hooligan
Shattered Glass Sideswipe - Drench
Prime Dark Energon Wheeljack - Scram (or Slice if you don't want to shell out for the Botcon one)
MP G2 Sideswipe - Scale is way off but sure beats paying for the 2010 Custom Class figure!
Maketoys Yellow Giant - Devastator
Asia Kids Day "Hot Spot" - G2 Inferno
AoE Snarl - Snarl
Constructbots AoE Swoop (Walmart Exclusive) - Swoop
Constructbots AoE Grimlock (Target Exclusive) - Grimlock, as it's based on a canceled G2 deco concept

Fun part with G2 is just sticking whatever you want in there. For instance, I use AoE Breakout Battle Rollbar as Neo-G2 Skids, even though there never was a G2 Skids.

Technically, Hasbro's Universe 2.0 release of Inferno IS already his "Classics G2" self. It says so right on the box!

The Asia Kids Day Hot Spot redeco makes a good Operation Combination Fire Chief, though.

Indeed. The water cannon thingy on top:

...is definitely a nod to the extra accessory that came with the G2 toy:

Perhaps not imedietly obvious, but rather then the sculpted "water" missile, the G2 toy had an actual, functional water-squirting cannon.

If you want a Generation One Inferno, you need to add on a third party accessory:

So if you want a G2 one? You're good, out of the box!

I'm probably going to leave Inferno on my "G1" shelf, as he's not as bright & out there as some of the other guys I've got sorted out  - Unless I end up with the Takara version?

So after a few bungles with the postal service, Movie-verse Hubcap showed up, and the Reprolabels set will be on my next order. I put him next to Generations Kup to get a feel for how he'd look next to his Laser Rod teammate Electro(ns) when he arrives and wow, bit of a height difference there, it'll look like a "Take your kids to work day" sort of thing. Which I kind of like, because the whole idea of G2 is to look kind of silly. Or something.

Battletanker looks amazing with the reprolabels

Definitely a nicer match for the original it is based on:
