Top 5 Transformers Generations Figures not made yet

Every two weeks, Seibertron.com brings you a Top 5 list related to all things Transformers written by me, your fellow editor. These are my opinions (just like movie or game reviews hosted by sites are still just the opinion of one person) so what matters most is what you guys think of the topic or list, and I hope to see your own lists or comments on omissions and ranking. Let's have fun! All previous lists can be found here.

Top 5 Transformers Generations Figures not made yet

This is a simple list, it is my opinion (and yours) of the figures that NEED to come out in the Generations line or any subsequent line based on providing modern toys of classic characters. While this list is inspired by he community's opinion, my personal basis for this top 5 was characters that either never got an update to their toy since it's original release, or never had a chance to begin with in their original toy, or never even had a toy at retail. Without further ado, lets start with...

5. Transformers Beast Machines Silverbolt

While the Best Wars Silverbolt toy is one of the best Beast Wars toys out there, and one of the few that may not require an update, the exact opposite can be said about his Beast Machines toy. While the robot mode is "ok" (and has some nice details from the animation model), the alt mode really looks like a fan mode that wasn't meant to be. It's just the robot doing a hand stand attempting a spread condor eagle. Hasbro has ventured into the Beast Machines realm for updates already so I really hope this guy gets one since I really feel he is the most in need.

4. Elita One

While it took almost 30 years for an actual toy of G1 arcee, we are still missing an actual toy of Elita 1, Cybertron's first lady. What is sad about this character is that at least arcee had a bunch of original molds in the past, even though none of them were of her G1 self. Elita 1 however, only got the leftovers, with a series of redecos and really ugly looking toys. There is very little legacy for this character in toy form and I really hope that changes soon with the release of a decent toy for this important fembot.

3. Transformers Sky Lynx

There is very little wrong with Sky Lynx' G1 toy. It is interesting, fun, original and quite show accurate. That doesn't change the fact that he never ever got any kind of update aside from the random shout out here and there. I, and many, believe that he is the most important G1 character left who hasn't gotten an updated toy. It's a good thing he at least got an Encore release which let fans finally get this cool G1 toy, which is something I can't say about ...

Image

2. The rest of the Dinobots

The classics line gave us Grimlock and... no one else. The next Dinobot released in the year spanning classics line was ... Grimlock...again. Dont get me wrong, Generations Grimlock is actually a great update to the character and one of the best FOC toys, with a great scale for a classics collection and a fun gimmick. But that doesn't make up that we are still missing updates to the other G1 dinos. Let me explain in a few easy pics.

1. Transformers Beast Wars Blackarachnia (Black Widow) and Transformers Beast Wars Terrorsaur (Terrorsaurer)

These two picks are near unanimous and for good reason since I personally cannot think of any other toys/characters which simply need to be updated for today. Blackarachnia is simply a non issue, she is just a redeco of Tarantulus which looks nothing like her animation model. The mold simply does not suit her sleek physique which is one of the main aspects of the character's design (and behaviour). She is the ultimate fembot and there just has to be a toy representing her original appearance.

At the same time, we have Terrorsaur. While I like his original toy (it is my very first Beast Wars toy), the scale just doesn't work. He was practically Megatron's second in command in season one of the Beast Wars show but the toy would make you think he's tiny, like Rattrap. And while I don't mind the simple transformation, it does result in having his hard stationary wings just sit there in robot mode, overshadowing any sleek physique his toy may have been trying to replicate. The Rattrap's original toy was simple too but actually in scale and quite accurate at the time, and even he got an update. In the end, I couldn't decide between these two Beast Wars characters which one was more in need of an update by both me and the community, so why not both.

Honourable mentions: Take your pick from this awesome thread. But for a quick answer here and now: Titan class Omega Supreme and Leader Class Sixshot. Odd how both Skylynx and Omega Supreme didn’t get new generations molds yet, and they both happen to be the two original Tomy designed toys in the Transformers franchise. Generations Overlord gets mentioned a lot too and for good reason, but I would rather they rerelease the G1 toy first and then go and update him.

G1 Stalker and the rest of the Predators.

Not sure why that wasn't at number one ... >:oP

One word: FOC trypticon. That stands as a titan.. of course next to metroplex.

He was already addressed, with a bunch of others, in the "Top 5 released figures that need an upscale (and preferably a new mold too)" list since he already had a classics update (although a piss poor one).

This is more for characters that have no update released at retail yet.

I would love to see a lot of Victory characters get the generations treatment like Deathsarus, Road Caesar, liokaiser and the rest.

I really agree with a proper Classic Elita One and a 1st season BW Blackarachnia.

So, here's a few others I'd like:

Titan Class Trypticon.
Metroplex need an opponent.

Ultimate Class Masterforce God Ginrai.
With Ginrai, the Cab-transtechtor (voyager size), the trailer, and Godbomber. All tranhsformable, and all modes present. Maybe in a IDW style with lots of articulations. The ultimate super mode would be as big as the original. This would be so awesome!

Scout class Gnaw and the Sharkticons.
Make them 2 or 3 per cases, so we can go nut and troop build!

Combiner Wars Seacons and Predaking.
CW need more new molds and beasties.

Deluxe class Masterforce Minerva (Minelba).
Her G1 toy is not show accurate at all, ultra rare, and expensive as hell. Hasbro is not ashamed to make fembots anymore and they have proof that they sell. Even the PINK ones! So, having a modernized Minerva, with a tiny headmaster gimmick, would be possible. Come on, HasTak!

5. G1 Firecons
4. G1 Micromasters (Blackjack needs his buddies, at the very least. But they all need updates)
3. G1 Nightbird
2. Leader Class G2 Jhiaxus (using the 2007 Bayverse leader Megatron mold)
1. Titan Class G1 Scorponok (to go with G1 Fort Max in proper scale)

I got a list of 5 myself.

5. Ape face and snapdragon

4. Monsterbots

3. Broadside (because we already have 5 of the 6 triple changers)

2. An actual stand alone impactor

1. Monstructor. They were an integral part of early Idw stories so this one makes absolute sense

I'd like to see the top 3 (er, 7? 8?), not so keen on the other 2. I'd want G2 repaints out of the Dinobots, though.

While not in dire need of an update, I would like to see some Movieverse characters get translated into the Generations style. The Movies had such a huge impact on the brand it's a shame that (outside of Bumblebee) there really hasn't been much carryover. Animated's (admittedly far more deserving) Lockdown, Bulkhead, and Lugnut have reappeared time and again, why not Barricade and Blackout? (not even talking about a Leader Blackout, just *a* Blackout)

An IDW Scorponok would be nice since last years Botcon crap doesn't count. I don't care if its a Voyager or Leader class all I know is that I need one. Overlord and Fort Max too.

DJD, Scavengers, Sharkticons (Legends or deluxe), Alicon (deluxe or voyager), Reflector (3 legends), Trypticon (Titan class) and an updated Quintesson.

Make them imposing figures that transform topped off with the "Man-E-Faces" treatment.

I gotta disagree with some of the choices because they already exist in an official capacity “CHUG” form. Since Hasbro loves to repaint and retool existing molds on their own for the Generations line, you have to count TFCC Botcon figures as official CHUG repaints as well. Whether or not you want to pay e-bay prices for them is a totally different story. You might want to add “retail” to the title of this thread.

CHUG Elita One already exists:

Image

Sure she is a boat, but she is still a great CHUG representation of the character. Even the head sculpt screams Elita One from a neo perspective. If you don’t want to dive into the dark side and buy MMC’s version, there should be plenty of these for sale cheap by this point.

And once again, while it is super neo, Beast Hunters Sky Lynx should be able to fill the spot on a CHUG shelf if you want to stay with a Hasbro only theme. Love it or hate it, you gotta admit its another example of a CHUG repaint. I could have seen Funpub doing it if Target hadn’t beaten them to it. It kind of works in beast mode if you put him in the background of your CHUG shelf and squint you eye like he is far away.
Image

On a side note, vintage G1 Sky Lynx scales so well with CHUG figures by cartoon standards, he fits in very well on a CHUG shelf being the non traditional type of character he is.

On the Dinobots, once again convention exclusives come into play when were talking CHUG:

Also, these Animated versions could be shoehorned into a CHUG display in dinosaur mode:

Image
Honestly, if you ever do decide to go third party for one character (or set) you should consider the Dinobots. Whether you want MP or CHUG scale, the choices are endless…

On Blackarachnia, while you don’t have an official CHUG homages, you have a couple versions that are blatant homages to the original character in different continuities. If you love the character that much, the you need her on your CHUG shelf now, they both make excellent stand ins:

Image

Image

I especially like the Animated version because the helmet covers most of those annoying Animated facial aesthetics. The Animated body aesthetic is very feminine as well. She looks a lot like the Beast wars screen model, plus she turns into a spider. After writing this, I think Im gonna buy one for my CHUG shelf. I had no Beast Wars stuff when this figure was in stores, but now I see the potential she has for CHUG.

You gotta be patient with Beast Wars because it is just now reaching the age where the homage value is coming into play with 90’s kids all grown up ready to buy. We have seen a host of both Hasbro and Funpub Beast Wars homages in recent years and Im sure more are coming.

We almost had a CHUG Silverbolt, but the contest was overwhelmed with Japanese fans who wanted a stupid Goshooter from a mold that isn’t even a headmaster. I was hoping for Silverbolt myself because the Grimwing mold works so well. And Im sure someone would have designed a better head to make it even better. The only good thing about that fan contest was that it proved the Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, and Ironhide molds are still intact and ready to deliver some Diaclone goodness if us fans call for it enough.

I would like to see:

1. leader class BROADSIDE(triplechanger)
2. leader class FLAT TOP (recolour of broadside with a different headsculpt)
3. leader class TIDALWAVE (updated version of armada/energon version)
4. Voyager class IMPACTOR (from the old UK marvel story line)
5. voyager class RACK'N'RUIN (then we would have complete wrecker team)

I know these would probably won't happen but one can dream :???:

I'd love to see the micromasters updated, but if they're kept tiny and with improved articulation. I always loved the 4 packs and bases and would love to see that again

I don't get what's with all the red glowy crap in the FoC Dinobots pic. Not keen on the designs either and the Grimlock toy is really, really dull. For G1 Grimmy I'd rather than downscaled the Masterpiece to Voyager size but improve the dino-mode to slightly more modern t-rex design.

I'd really like an updated Carnivac figure but then he was one of my faves from the Marvel comic and possibly too obscure for Hasbro to care. I've had to settle with a Cybertron Snarl repainted as him for years. Best I can do but I'd really like a proper update (even just so he doesn't have a wolf-head for a hand like CybSnarl does)

And I agree with a voyager Hot Rod/Rodimus. I liked the classics figure from 2006 a lot (it's still among the few classics I really like) but it's too small when compared to Voyager Springer or even Deluxe Arcee. A costly japanese import redeco of Springer doesn't really suffice (though I'm doing a custom Rodimus from Springer my own way to look much more distinct from Springer than the Cloud one does).

I agree with all of these except Silverbolt. Beast Machines Silverbolt was very disappointing, especially coming off of Beast Wars.

Many, many Beast Wars characters deserve an update, like Inferno, Tigatron, Airrazor and Scorponok, while Rampage and Depth Charge need to be REISSUED, their toys were perfect and I still want to get them :-(
