Speculation: What do you think G2 releases of Metroplex and Trypticon would have looked like?

The Aerialbots and Combaticons were redecoed (and in the case of Silverbolt and Onslaught, slightly retooled) for Generation 2. The same was planned for the Protectobots and Stunticons, and the cancellation didn't come until production had, in point of fact, started (as proven by the mint on sealed card samples of the limb robots). Metroplex and Trypticon were designed to interact with these teams (Metroplex with all four leaders, since like them he was originally being developed for Diaclone), so it would be interesting to see what people think G2 releases of them to go with the four Special Teams would be colored like and what changes would have been made.

EDIT: I would prefer that people keep what parts do and don't share molds in mind for this. On that note:

Metroplex:
  • Head antennae, rifles, double-blaster, Six-Gun's torso
  • Thighs, left half of torso, toes, shoulder turret, missile battery (it's white under the chrome), shoulder antennae, Slammer's turret, Six-Gun's chestplate
  • Arms, calves, kneecaps, middle of torso, right half of torso, waist, mount for shoulder turret, back tower, Slammer's body
  • Head, mount for missile battery, torso garage ramp/door, torso garage launcher, fists, missiles, rifle triggers, rifle connector cuffs, button that deploys head

Trypticon:
  • Head, outer body, outside of tail, arms, legs
  • Hip covers, nose cover, Brunt's laser
  • Brunt's other pieces, forward ramps
  • Full-Tilt, claws, side platforms, heels, tiny tower/cannons, barrels of shoulder cannons, knee centers, battery covers
  • Inner body/inside of tail, inner pieces of legs
  • Shoulder cannons, soles of feet
  • Full-Tilt's gun, radars/turrets

I personally think that a G2 Trypticon might have been colored similarly to his BWII redeco & retool Gigastorm, since Gigastorm's original form, Megastorm, was a veeery slight redeco of G2 Megatron. Still, that's only one idea.

Metroplex - always figured this would be primarily blue or red instead of gray. Or maybe a very bright green.

Trypticon - Something like the unreleased yellow G2 Grimlock, but with more pink as a secondary color. To be appropriately '90s, would need the Gigastorm retool hair-do.

There were never G2 releases to use as reference in the first place. For Metroflex, we can expect a Metrotitan color. Trypticon got a slight remolding for Gigastrom.....an O'Ded form of the G2 Megatron tank in the Japanese BWII neo.

That would be why this thread is a speculation on what G2 versions would have looked like if things had been otherwise.

On Metroflex, you could color him gray but a lot of G2 releases had them in trippy rainbow colors. Metrotitan is the closest trippy colors I can speculate with unless Hasbro back then went for polka dots.

Look at Action Master Thundercracker, then back to metroplex. Now back to Action Master Thundercracker, then back to Metroplex.

You're welcome. :D

Metroplex, neon orange as the primary color, with the secondary color (the reddish stuff mainly) being powder blue.

Trypticon, a bright red with neon green highlights.
