Will Titan Metroplex ever be reissued?

Sup folks. I jumped in the game to late and I am contemplating purchasing Metroplex at $229 from bbts. Too much? For me, with 3 kids, hell ya it is. But I don't see the guy's price going down...bite the bullet? Or kick myself when gets released next year at retail price?
My collection won't be right without him.
Opinions please, thank you all.

I wish I would've jumped on the $170 price BBTS had the Japanese version listed at last year, as I really want a Metroplex now.

As to whether or not it'll be reissued, I have no idea, but probably not.

At this point, I would be more than happier with one that Costco had at $79.99.
In the Bay, Cali in general, there are so many Costcos. So I'm actually kicking myself in the head already. Had my chance way back then.
Hey thank you for the input. I may have to go ahead and grab it.

I recently just dropped the cash and went for Takara Metroplex. He worth his buck.

Current toys hardly ever get "reissued" (as in get additional production runs) by Hasbro, especially large ones like Metroplex. The larger the toy, the slimmer the chance of a re-release. They do get redecoed at a later date, and two to three separate waves of Generations Deluxes have seen re-release as of late, but that's it.
There is a chance that certain liquidator stores buy up overstock of Metroplex, or that the stores find a shipment hidden away in a warehouse and sell it off for cheap. Who knows?

It took them over 10 years to get to Fortress Maximus. They started reissuing G1 in '01 or '02, right?

Yes, but I don't think he want to wait 10 or more years for a Gen. Metroplex re-release

Additional production runs are usually made when a figure is less than a year old after its first release I think? After that, it's put on ice unless it's planned on being redecoed.
TakaraTomy is a bit more free in that, when the demand is high enough to warrant production. Look at all the Masterpiece re-releases. ;)

Thank you all for your opinions. Really means so much. With payday coming up on Fri, I have a couple more days of soul searching.
The side by side shot with Titan Devastor was what ignited this obsession. I always rationalized not buying him. After seeing those shots, I can't relax about it, and now the hunt is on my mind.

Others have chimed in, but here's my two cents. I doubt he will be reissued anytime soon. Your best chance right now is probably getting the Hong Kong version from BBTS, even though it will be expensive. (On the bright side, if it matters to you, at least you'll have two of the large red guns.)

You could take a chance, wait, and hope that BBTS puts him on clearance eventually. But then you take the risk that they won't do so, and their stock runs out while you are waiting.

And just to temp you further, here are some pics of my Metroplex:

(Full disclosure, though, mine isn't exactly stock... If you want a Six-Gun and Slammer with your Metroplex, you'll have to dip into the glorious dark side of third party toys...)

I have been wanting Mplex for a while now. Was low on funds and although my wife only have 1 child at the moment I can somewhat empathize w not having the cash to get him at such a high price point. I may have to pass on certain releases later this year to save enough to get him.

Yutsuyasan, you win. Metroplex is purchased. I opened my mouth too much, and the Hong Kong Plex from bbts sold a couple posts later. "dark side"? At $239 plus $12.15 shipping on eBay, you can call me Sith Lord, Prince of Darkness, etc...
fenrir72, Tomy it is.
Purchased from eBay seller xodious474, who has a 430 teal star rating. Can any of you Seibertronian Fam vouch for this seller?
Drift082111, I'll let you know how it goes with wifey...scary!
JelZ GoldRabbit, Rodimus Prime, RhA, Robogeek1973, thank you for your knowledge and opinions. All comments helped me sack up and go for it. I'll have a YouTube vid of me enjoying this guy. No need to "review" as there are so many out there already.
37 yrs old G1 fan and Combiner Wars = dollar signs for Hasbro. I always stayed strong and resisted a Transformers habit until The Combiner Wars line. I had to give in.
Promised myself I wouldn't buy Transformers. Promised myself I wouldn't start a Takara habit. Really hoping not take break the promise of staying clear of Masterpieces...
Pretty soon, I'm about to be as broke as a promise.
Naw, in all seriousness, I know I will love this toy and enjoy it as much as I did in the 80's.
Take care all and see you on the hunt :)

I think you misread when I said, "If you want a Six-Gun and Slammer with your Metroplex, you'll have to dip into the glorious dark side of third party toys..." I added that since those two were in the photos I shared.

I don't know if you care about or have any attachment to the G1 version of Metroplex, who of course came with three sidekick toys: Scamper, Slammer, and Six-Gun. The newer Metroplex toy, meanwhile, only comes with Scamper:

Image

So you wouldn't have the other two unless you went for less then official options, of which there are a few. (Including the ones pictured in my last post.)

Also, mine has an extended ramp for city mode, modified knees, and Reprolabel custom stickers.

On the bright side, the large red gun on his shoulder in my photo? You should have two of those, where as I (with the domestic retail Metroplex) only ever had one. (Of course, I am personally less bothered by that since I got the third party Six-Gun, who's legs also become other large red guns.)

Anyway, enjoy your Metroplex when he arrives! I hope you come and share your thoughts on him once you have him in hand. :D

Oh, and shameless self plug here: If you want to see everything Metroplex related I have, here my thoughts on the figure, and see exactly what I did modifying him from stock, here is a review of Metroplex that I wrote.

Haha Yotsuya I read ya fine. I'm just trying to laugh off the fact that I just dropped lots of bread on this guy.
I love the modifications and 3rd Party sidekicks. I love all those legends occupying the city mode and the way Voyagers look on the carrier mode. Mine can't get here soon enough.
Shameless plug? Shoot I'm just glad y'all welcomed me in. Definitely check out review and site brother.
You should rename yourself "Devil's Advocate"!
So pumped! Go Warriors!!! Wait whut?!

Ha ha... "Hardcore" is not often a word I associate with myself... But in this case, I'll take it. But, you know, as awesome as it was to even get a modern, two foot tall Metroplex, he did have some shortcomings. And yeah, correcting them probably ended up more then doubling his cost before the end.

(A bit over $80 for the Six-Gun and Slammer, $35 for the stickers, at least $20 for the new ramps & knees... Actually, I did pay less then all that combined for Metroplex himself! So strike that "probably" in the last paragraph!)

And the scary thing is, I did that all while unemployed! (A situation that, fortunately, has been rectified...)

But man, some figures are just worth the effort, and man, if he doesn't make an impressive centerpiece, especially all dolled up!

Just a damn bloody shame that I don't have the room to regularly display him in city mode... Especially since that is the only mode where the new knees and the ramp extensions really come into play. Ah, well... That's why once in a great while I'll just say, "The heck with it!" and have him take up some floor space!

I'm really quite surprised to hear prices have increased that much on this guy.

I think you'll enjoy him.

What you need now is a nice Sixgun to go with him...

With repaints being a reality with TF I still can't imagine why HasTak wouldn't do Metrotitan. :-? Someone please chime in on this. I guess there are some legalities involved and that wouldn't surprise me if that were the case. Seriously with a mold as big as Metroplex what can you do? Are the eggheads at HakTak even considering a retool?

C'mon HasTak do whats right, give us Metrotitan! :VEHI:

The bigger the figure, the less are produced and the longer they linger because of the price. Potential customers would be very weary with the purchase of such a large figure, let alone a second one in different colors. Only completists would, but they're not enough in number to justify production.

Hey, I spotted a Metroplex today someplace I wasn't expecting to! (Link possibly a little NSFW.)

Anyway, D-BagTron, now that you've had him a few days, how are you enjoying him? And any thoughts as to any third party augmentations, or are you satisfied with him stock?

Edit: Oh, and I finally got around to watching your video. Some nice posing going on there! I liked the bit where Metroplex had Combiner Wars Prime in one arm, and Prime was going all double rifle on some Decepticons.

Man, the Takara one has some sweet paint apps. Don't get me wrong, I am quite happy with my Reprolabeled Hasbro one... but still, let it never be said that Takara doesn't have skills with their paint.

I forgot about that one big difference, where Takara's has a white flight deck in carrier mode as opposed to Hasbro's black. (You only had yours in robot mode in the video, but I did catch a glimpse of it on the box.) I'm not sure which I really prefer there. White is more G1 accurate, but the black flight deck that Hasbro's has is definitely pretty good looking.

Image

I guess that is, to me at least, one of those details that really is a coin toss.

Yotsuya! Nice "catch" there haha!
I enjoy city and aircraft mode but bro I'm a straight robot fiend. That being said, I favor the aircraft mode over the city. You are right about how Hasbro's runways pop in color. It's vibrant with great contrast.
Well, Metroplex is "enviormental" when posing him in robot mode. Smooth surfaces like coffee tables make his feet slide, resulting in his hips losing position under his heavy weight. You are stuck to asymmetrical poses to hold him in action poses. On a sticky surface(rug, rubber, or leather etc.) he can be posed in many action poses and symmetrical action poses are much better. He can't lean forward too much, again because he's a heavy beast!
Bro, I love to pose TF's. In the 80's, you couldn't pose TF's because technology had not arrived yet. Now you can pose them like G.I. Joes.
Durability is good. I let my 2 year old son have at it and Plex survived.
I'm upgrading to a Six-Gun in a month.
I saw teasers for a TITAN WARS line. I'm coppin' 2 at retail and never buying aftermarket again lol. Decepticons need some representation bad...really bad. Not just Dev and Bruticus. Bring on some TITAN Decepticons.
