Will we see another line like Binaltech or Alternity?

While I do buy the main line figures, its things like the Mastepiece figures that I really like and look forward to at the moment. In the past the Binaltech/Alternator and the Alternity figures were my main addition but now we don't have anything like that.

Do you think we will again or was it an experiment that has run its course?

All things considered, the current Masterpiece line is the successor of the likes of Binaltech and Alternity. The main focus of the two lines were licensed vehicles, which we have with the Masterpiece cars right now. The only thing missing is a realistic interior and possibly the die cast metal.

Yes, I suppose that is true.

The fact that licensing agreements have been made for the Masterpiece cars have been made makes me hopeful for some sort of revival of modern day vehicles being used.

Also, consider this: Binaltech was already Masterpiece-like in planning, with characters retaining the basic car model:

Tracks
G1: Corvette Stingray
BT: Corvette Z06

Hound
G1: Jeep J59
BT: Jeep Wrangler

Camshaft/Downshift
G1: Mazda RX-7 Series 2
BT: Mazda RX-7 (went to Jazz instead)

Jazz
G1: Porsche 935 Turbo
BT: Porsche 986 (settled on the Mazda RX-7 instead)

Obviously that didn't pan out

Yep, though that didn't carry through to other characters when they ran out of car based characters to use. Would have preferred them to make Optimus a truck cab over that pick up.

The Mazda design used the RX8 not the 7 which was probably my favourite of the lot and swayed me enough me to buy one ( still looking for the transform button ).

I suppose we had the Human Alliance voyager figures too, didnt think of them.

Not to mention the Subaru Impreza. Brrrrrrrr such a cool vehicle. The good and the bad.

Good.....great functional interiors

Bad......great functional interiors kind of limited the transformation and.........the d@mn paint chipping.

Well, that was kind of out of Hasbro's hands. Takara wanted Convoy for the Dodge Ram because that car make isn't prevalent in Japan, and they were hoping attaching a well-loved character to it would boost sales.

:D

I loved the Binaltech/Alternators line of Transformers. In fact, I think it was that line which fully got me back into buying Transformers back in the early naughties, amongst other things.

When I bought my first Detolf glass display cabinet, it was my Binaltech and Alternators that took the first pride of place alongside those early Masterpiece figures and they all got along well with each other! ;)

After the lines demise I was pleased to hear about its somewhat successor Alternity. Although a little unsure to begin with, mainly because of the scale change, I mangaged to pick up a couple of releases which I now really love!

Due to them scaling really well with other Classics Deluxe car bots that is where they reside, although not as their originally intended character choices. These Alternity figures have started getting a repurposed place in my collection, as other character with a similar deco whom have yet to gain a Classics Deluxe sized figure. :-?

These are my repurposings once I catch em all!

Nemesis Prime/Ultra Magnus = Battlechargers
Tailgate = GT-R Maximus
Devcon - GT-R Star Saber

With a wealth of colours and a lot of characters still to represent, I will be picking up more of the Alternity line and possibly its successor?
