Fans of Beast Wars has a very nice treat coming next year. The first ever Beast Wars Masterpiece figure is none other than Optimus Primal or Beast Convoy if you will. This is coming just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Beast Wars. The figure is shown only in beast mode but is very accurate to the cartoon model but looks like a non transforming mock-up at the moment. These images come to us via twitter user @Hawk753afd.

MP optimus primal? i bet nobody saw that coming. as a BW fan, this has me incredibly excited.

I'm going to have to assume that's a non-transforming mock-up, though. Otherwise there has to be some dark sorcery going on.

And I'm not quite sure if I like it looking literally like a 90s CGI cartoon render. That's not quite "fashionably retro" as 8-bit or N64 polygons or whatever.

Nothing will stop me; cannot wait to see the robot mode and any of the additional features it'll come with.

Great. Now I really want to get this guy and a Voyager sized Dinobot for my Beast Wars collection.

I think Soundwave just got replaced as the MP I want the most.

Just speculating on that one pic, I'm thinking Beast Mode is static and unmovable while robot mode will be articulated.

I don't think I've ever been more excited for a toy in my life. The only thing that would make me happier would be MP Dinobot or BW Megatron. This and CW Bruticus.

I do not collect MP figures.

HOWEVER, I will be getting this guy, and the hopefully produced MP BW Megatron

I'm sure many mind just blew out at the reveal of a MP Optimus Primal! Not only did the MP line finally shy away from G1 a bit, they go to mother faux-king BEAST WARS!

I will wait for better, more detailed pictures.

Pass. For some reason I have distate for Transformers who turn into supposedly organic looking animals. Is why I passed on Generations Rhinox even at half price. And yet I was fond of Pretenders. Weird.

Wow. A Masterpiece Optimus Primal. Who would have thought.

I bet there is a way to design Optimus Primal into a toy that looks just like he was in the cartoon without making him look as if he's partly transformed.

I hope it gets a new number, such as BWMP-01, and won't be my first hole in the MP line. I understand it's an anniversary thing, but MP-28 doesn't suit this.
