Not sure if this counts as news, and I couldn't find any more threads about it.

I've seen this video circulating on Facebook, showing a white plastic prototype of what appears to be a new Beast Wars Dinobot toy:

It's difficult to tell whether this is an official Hasbro/Takara product or a Third Party creation, but the figure itself nonetheless looks pretty good. If this is Third Party, then it will be the first Third Party Transformer in history that I'd actually like to have.

Fellow Seibertronians Munkky and william-james88 have pointed us in the direction of a video on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform, showing a white plastic prototype of a Beast Wars Dinobot figure. Now, the staff have been thinking about this post for a while before placing it on the front page, and please take this as a rumour of the utmost rumour status - but could it be that, rather than the Universe toy, we're looking at a new release in the Generations line as allegedly teased at SDCC 2015? Or is it, perhaps, a third party item?

Whatever the case, take a look for yourselves below, and sound off your opinions, thoughts and speculations in the Energon pub!

UPDATE via Seibertron.com user SW's Silverhammer: this is in fact a fan-made figure, and nothing official or likely to see release yet at all. You can find out more below.

Legit or not, that is a cool way to hide the Raptor arms in Robot mode.

2. I hope it's Ultra-sized.

Looks like the shoulders lack the shoulder pads his CG model had.

Hastak or third-party, I want it.

I'm getting a serious Universe 2008 Dinobot vibe from this guy... I'm keeping open the possibility that it's the original prototype before major revisions.

With the 20th anniversary next year I can't wait to see what's in store.
Were finally getting a bw masterpiece with Optimus Primal so it's not impossible to think Dinobot gets the same treatment that a hero such as himself deserves.

On a sidenote what ever happened to the bw Megatron we saw that used FOC grimlock's mold?-

We only ever saw images of stolen test shots from eBay auctions. There was never an official announcement of the Megatron head retool getting released by Hasbro or Takara. At this point, a release by the Club or eHOBBY would be the best outlet for it to be released.

It was a test shot for the alternate head, nothing more. It's common practice to have two head molds and only use one, saving the other for who-knows-when.

A friend of mine said it's too complex for it to be Hasbro mold, but has any 3P attempted realistic animal modes? Plus, I've seen people commenting its possibly 3D-printed, something Hasbro or TakaraTomy don't do.

This definitely has my attention. Hopefully it's official since that will mean it will be cheaper. Transformation seems pretty interesting.

I'd love to have this! Especially in hopes that they finish the original Beast Wars cast.

That being said, Universe Dinobot isn't the one that needs updating, if you know what I mean. Cough, Cheetor cough. I quite liked the 2008 Dinobot. Even the new, inaccurate, color scheme. The dino-tail was the biggest downside in my eyes.

God, I seriously hope this is legit While I'm not too sure about the sculpt of the neck, or the blocky-ness of the back of the beast head, this is still an amazing looking figure. The tail even managed something similar to the bw II saberback figure, where the tail curved naturally and the fins followed the curves; that's solid.

Overall it seems to have the prescence that Dinobot had in the show, his limbs may not be as thick as the show model, but the show model's transformation also had the beast head fly around, disconnected from the body, so, not that good a standard for comparison Still, the position of the beast arms leaves a bit to be desired, I think, would need better quality images, but I don't know.

Isn't IDW premiering Dinobot in the mainline not too far from now? That should lend some credibility to this being an official product.

That was bad; unfortunately his beast mode was so lithe, there was very little room to cram as large a body/limbs as he had into, so obviously sacrifices will have to be made.

Meh, definitely deluxe sized, and not all that different from the original.

There is one other option that hasn't been mentioned yet. It could be a garage kit.

I'm taking this information with a grain of salt. Hasbro is definitely known for unwanted surprises.

Let's think about this for a sec.

This thing is neither a combiner component nor a baseformer, and the next two years of Generations being dominated by Combiner Wars and Titan Wars really hurts this thing's chances of be a Generations figure for either 2016 or 2017.

It is too simplistic and not show-accurate enough to be a Masterpiece.

It lacks any of the excessive "greeble" details common to most third-party products.

And it's very probably safe to assume that this thing isn't a RID or Rescue Bots toy.

Therefore, the options for what exactly this thing could be are very far and few. A garage kit is still a distinct possibility, but I'm still unsure.

This thing is truly a mystery wrapped inside an enigma.

I'll grant you that it doesn't fit in with the theme's, but these are all still generations figures, they just happen to be releasing sets of figures that all fall under a sub-theme - when you think about it, the cw figures are just regular generations figures that all just happen to combine.

I sincerely doubt that hasbro are doing an entire year of all base-formers, or casesette-icons, or other making every figure released base-add-on figures - what about deluxes, what would they do - that would be exceptionally droll and would stray very far from what generations figures are supposed to be.

With the bw 20th (or whichever) anniversary coming up next year, it is possible that hasbro are going to do some releases for it; if they completely ignore it, I will seriously doubt they have any love for their own franchises history, apart from cashing in on the nostalgia of g1'er's.

So let us cautiously hold out hope for this, and others to follow

He needs to be voyager size if he is real (which I REALLY REALLY HOPE HE IS). They may be putting out a wave or two of BW anniversary figures like they did for the 10th with a few new molds. Hopefully they'll keep everyone in relative scale to the show if they do (exact would be really hard to fit into the price points) Dinobot HAS to be the tallest one of the Maximals though.

Well I said this already, but I doubt every figure in 2016 or 17 generations will have something to do with the titan wars, it is still a subset of generations. Judging by the black and white "Titan Wars" backdrop, just because of the nature of the gimicks, bases, headmasters, and even double headmasters, those figures will probably be voyager+ giving Hasbro a larger budget to play with the gimmick. From there, I think that there's a chance some of 2016 or 17 deluxes might have some play with the "(insert here) masters" in some way either being smaller headmasters themselves like headmasters Junior, or be part of a a separate system, such as Target masters. However the "Titan Wars" by nature seems more restrictive to larger figures so I doubt they'll be integrated with larger figure or be headmaster junior style figures just due to budgetary reasons. So I think that while there may be some deluxed gimmick-ed figures like a target master, or maybe another cerebros like character to interact with the "titan wars", the main focus of the Titan wars proper, might be voyager+ figures with some legends class figures to complement or supplement them like what is being speculated with buzzsaw. Because of the budget restricts for some of these gimmicks, or working better at a larger scale like with headmasters, I think the deluxe will be more standard style, pre combiner wars, generations figures, allowing for things like 1 or 2 beast wars 20th anniversary stuff.
