1987 Decepticon Targetmasters - TFSource Article

Following on from last week’s look at 1987 Autobot Headmasters, this week we are concentrating on the three non-Movie Decepticon Targetmasters Misfire, Triggerhappy and Slugslinger. These Decepticon jets continue the futuristic post-movie look and the marked move away from realistic Earth-based vehicles for Transformers alternate modes. While the Headmasters were incredibly blocky due to the forced aesthetic of the Headmaster companions, the 1987 Targetmasters were much more well-proportioned figures in robot mode but still featured a number of uniform design choices across the range. As with last week’s Autobot Headmasters, these Targetmaster Decepticons are Transformers-only moulds as Hasbro and Takara were no longer exclusively sticking to pre-Transformers sculpts from Diaclone, Micro Change Series and the like.

I think I like Triggerhappy's look most of all. And that description of how the Targetmasters transform gives me stress marks. :-D

I love these guys. I never had them as a kid, but I think they look great. I have the Energon Slugslinger, which is a cool figure and pays a nice homage to the G1 version.
I would love to see Generations releases of these figures

Those are three great-looking figures. Are they available in reissue form by any chance? If not, how easy/difficult are they to find?

These haven't been reissued. Not "Hard to find", I only use that adjective for "regularly 0 results on eBay" types of things, but finding complete ones in good shape can be pricey due to the extreme fragility of the Targetmasters' waist joints. Maz mentions this in his article, takes some guts to transform the little guys! I've had mine in gun mode for years. May buy extras one day already in bot mode just to have both modes without worry

This article inspired me to buy Reprolabels for the three of these guys. Looking forward to that project!
