My best guess is that it's the Optimus that came with the Japanese release of Revenge if ordered from Amazon Japan.

The box and instructions may be authentic, but the toy inside is a different story. While that voyager class mold has been repainted several times, the only time it had gold chrome wheels was for the entirely gold chromed Luck Draw Voyager Optimus Prime
http://www.transformertoys.co.uk/conten ... Prime.html

Also weird usage of Chrome like that is generally a clue that its a knockoff. Even Takara's superfluous usage of chrome on figures tends to have reason. and usually is not on things that would get easily scratched off like tires.

Here you go; KO Optimus Prime with Gold Chrome parts including tires:

The crystal ones I mention are on that link above too lower down the same page.

I've been seeing them pop up in EBay search results for years in the same design of box too.

Shame there isn't something like this using the HFTD Voyager mould that would be nice to see that toy with a bunch of other colours.
(yes I know it has a legit Black version & some repaints/reissues already) It doesn't come in clear plastic though as far as I know but anyway that was a nicer mould than the 2009 one was.

Depends on how much you paid for it.

Can't really blame someone for no knowing it was illegitimate when the packaging is designed to deceive though.

It's possibly a custom someone painted and put back in the packaging

No, it's most definitely the KO described above. Cheers for catching that, Overcracker :)

No, it's not. The original owner probably used an older legit box for the purpose of reselling the thing without the buyer suspecting anything (or just not caring). High end KO's like this one can be a pretty niche area of knowledge.

The Box was not swapped they come in repro boxes with repro instructions and are sold exactly as shown in at least half a dozen variations.

They used to sell them back in the days when the website KO-toys was still a thing and they often show up on eBay even now.

Yeah, I'm surprisingly familiar with that mold. :-D :-$ And yeah, The box is very likely an original box. They just put the KO Prime in there.
