In my opinion, I would do one of the below:

Open it and have fun or

Return it and invest the 35.99.

I'm not being rude here, it's a serious legit question and I will explain it in a moment.

How old are you?

If you're still relatively young (13+) I'd say open it and have fun with it. It's literally one of the best Prime figures *EVER* made. (I kid you not.)

If you're late teens/early 20's I'd say the decision is up to you, you can tinker with it (which I recommend) or you can save it for posterity and resell it down the road.

If you're an adult beyond 20, it's still up to you, but I'd highly recommend opening it and fully enjoying it. That's part of the fun of TransFormer figures. What can you do with a boxed item? Look at it? Wonder what it might be like? BOOORING.

Also, buying these now to keep as resale collectible isn't the best course of action. Yes, the movie is helping to push these figures into high demand, but they won't really have a niche in the collector's market (demanding more money, such as eBay prices) until quite a bit later. That's the trend we've been seeing with all TransFormers lately.

If you still want the best of both worlds, open this one, enjoy it, and then invest in another.

Open it and enjoy just how cool it is.

I dont see the movie figures being worth big money in the coming years anyway, they will be everywhere.

Open him up! I just looked through his gallery and he looks too awesome to keep in that silly box. Like a user suggested, you'll get a better return investing in stocks than you would waiting for this figure to become a valuable collectible. It's a toy, have your fun!
