No love for Classic Magnus?

I keep seeing auctions for Classic Ultra Magnus without Skywarp on ebay this week. No one loves Magnus? That many people JUST want a Skywarp huh?

I just hope Classic Thundercracker isn't a convention exclusive, because it seems like lots of people want an original seeker set.

I only want Skywarp.

I'm an Ultra Magnus fan. I detest Hasbro's constant repainting of Prime white and slapping the Ultra Magnus name on it. There is nothing Ultra about it, to me Ultra Magnus is Magnus combined with his trailer.

If they'd simply called him Magnus I might be more accepting.

Honestly, Classics Magnus is a really boring figure in appearance, especially when compared to Prime or even the UM on the back of the box, the only saving grace of the figure is the mold it self and if you have Prime you don't even really need UM.

I'd love to have them both, it's just that my Target doesn't seem to have them yet.

There's a poster in the Carbombya forum that says that they're not going to be in Target anymore...I wonder why they made so little of them? Anyway, I have to agree that if there's going to be an Ultra Magnus, make him Ultra Magnus, not just White OP.

I really only want Skywarp but since I never got Prime I'd keep Magnus too. Now if only I could get one over here for a fair price. :-(

I've also seen people splitting the pack to get a few extra $$$.... Did this person have a listing for Skywarp too?

£34.90 inc postage at xybertoys, considering you are getting a voyager and a deluxe thats not bad. Mind you I wish they'd release skywarp seperately too - he's so purty.

But almost £40 for a set that sells for £10 in the states isn't what I'd call a fair price. £20-£25 shipped I would pay but almost 400% mark up is extortionate. That's figuring in Xybertoys is the cheapest, average I've seen is £45. :?

If you'd like I could pick one up for you and post it out to England for you. I figure it would be around $32 US total to ship it that far. PM me if you're interested.

Also. I freaking love Magnus. It helps break up the sea of red and blue I have on my shelf that's overfilled with Primes.

I'd absolutely love Classics Magnus if they kept him painted like his back-of-box counterpart... the blue mouthplate and red/orange eyes really do make a world of difference to the figure's look...

Poor ol' Magnus has got my love. It's a brilliant mold, and he's been coloured pretty well.
But surely, they couldn't think of anything new for him? How about a retool of Energon Magnus with the ability to bend his arms and legs, and a more accurate face? Come on Hasbro, stop being lazy!

Having said that, I love Titanium Ultra Magnus. He's a brill figure.

I'd love to have the two-pack if I could find the damn thing. Is Target really discontinuing this item?

Well discontinuing is really not inaccurate. Like all of their exclusives, once the case is sold out they don't order any more in.

I just don't get this Ultra Magnus WAS a white repaint of OPtimus Prime in G1. - So for Classics what the heck else would he be?

I have no problem with the toy being a repaint of Optimus Prime, since that's what is ALWAYS was (except for RiD and Energon, and Classics is NOT about RiD or Energon!) The problem with both this guy and Optimus is they lack trailers at all. They both could REALLY use trailers. I'd love if they released similar trailers for both, one looking like Powermaster Optimus's trailer and one like Ultra Magnus's trailer. Sadly, the biggest oversight on the toy - no trailer hook tab!

I think this comes down to the people who collected toys more in 1986 vs. those who watched the TV show more. I still come across people who find a "white Optimus Prime" toy and think it's weird, why is Optimus white? It's Magnus! They never saw Magnus as anything else if they didn't follow the toys.

I say this strictly as a Ultra Magnus fan so it may sound bias.

Yeah, Ultra Magnus had a cab that was a white version of Optimus Prime. He combined with his trailer. But as far as the comics and cartoons went, he never transformed without donning the trailer armour.

Along comes Pat Lee and Dreamwave and while the story was good and it showed a new side/feature of Ultra Magnus. That one panel we saw where he stripped off the armour to take down Shockwave has seen Hasbro pump out a number of white Prime's and call them Ultra Magnus.

Ultra Magnus to me is NOT Ultra Magnus unless he combines with his trailer. Hasbro either needs to simply call him Magnus or "Hate Plague Resistant Optimus Prime".

I like mine just fine. It certainly convinced me that I needed to get the Prime version of the mold as well. Of course I'd planned to get it. It just made me get it sooner. Skywarp is fantastic too.

No he is not just a white repaint of Prime...that was Dreamwaves incarnation.

The reason for the cab being white, is because they changed the colors from the powered Convoy set.

The cab is white, but he's not 'Ultra', until he merges with the trailer. That is Ultra Magnus, if the intention was for him to be just white, then in G1 he would just had had a reghular trailer like Optimus. I also believe they painted him all white so the impact of his repaint against Optimus would be minimal as well.

And lastly, in the cartoon, he was not white.

Unlike the seekers, who in a sense are defined by their colors, this repaint is just sort of a dull thing.

Also, to note since the G1 toys, Strascreams head is tow shades of gray, while Thundercracker, and Skywarps heads are identical, colored black, because those two are brothers.

Even in Robotmasters, they gave all the seekers the same head.

I just picked up the ultra magnus/skywarp two pack today. I have to say that I like the changes that they made to the optimus prime design when turned him into ultra magnus granted they are very simple changes but I think they make a world of diffirence. I think if people took more time to look at the changes I think that there would be more love for the ultra magnus repaint. Also for anyone that lives in the seattle, lynnwood area of washington state I found at the northgate target.

Classics Magnus is a really sucky repaint, but I keep him around so I can say that I have a complete set. He isn't worth much on the 'bay either.
