Are the tf GO combiners and Go Exprime worth getting?

Hey tf fans, I am considering getting the beast combiner team from the tf go line as well as that train optimus and I cant make up my mind.

Image

Are the individual robots or beast modes worthwile? What about the combined modes, are they well executed? Are these fun or cool or both? Are the fun to transform? What about the prime that turns into a train?

The reviews online just help explain the figures but I am looking for opinions here. Am I missing out by nevet getting these or would you recomend them?

Any help woild be greatly appreciated.

While I don't own any of them, some things seem to be fairly obvious to me.

-They use the unsuccessful 'railracer' design where the combined mode has a massive amount of kibble and a heavy backpack.

-The legs have a lot of joints in them, combined with the excessive kibble, posing them could prove difficult.

-The individual modes have 'energon legs' where the bot modes don't have natural pelvis', they are a panel covering up the actual thighs in their shoulders.

-The beast modes are unconvincing, chunky, and quite disproportionate - especially the eagle, almost chibi-like in appearance, if it's not something you're into, you probably won't be happy with them.

-Optimus is kind of a mess in all modes, the dragon mode looks like some weird parade float, and the additional kibble chunks are ridiculous and silly.

So there you go, everything I ever really thought about them, I guess if you still like them and can tolerate their flaws, I guess they're a decent buy, especially if you can get them for a good price; but here are some pics of what I was talking about:

Image

Come on, it's an entire figure on the back, just so it can provide some abs to the combined mode, like, what even?!? 8-}

Image

That is some hideous butt-flap kibble, I mean, its the entire torso hangin' off his a$$ :HEADHURTS:

That is a lot of squat fugly right there

My ExPrime is displayed as a stand alone. He does have kibble in bot mode but it doesn't bother me personally...he is a shellformer. He displays very well and has most of the articulation we are used to minus thigh swivel I think. Love his bullet train mode, dragon Mode is cool depending on your expectations. I think of it more as a armored dragon float at a Chinese parade. Really love the Light and Sound gimmick and the fact that I can't understand a word of Japanese...makes it that much more awesome. I'm a sucker for lights and sounds though.
As far as the Ninja team go...I'll give it the aforementioned skinny legs, I Would have preferred beefier legs but those are some really strong ratchets. I also understand the individual bots would have looked ridiculous with thunder thighs. Disagree on the kibble of the gestalt, it's not a full figure on his back. It's the legs of the bird boy. Many figures have a backpack. Ninja team has a color changing light and sound show that is pretty spectacular (especially if it is transformed in the proper steps. I prefer the Samurai team for playability of vehicles vs beasts personally. I think the gestalts run around $65 total on Amazon. Really, you can't beat that with a stick. You get a gestalt that has 3 unique configurations. The do scale well with CW, although I display them on their own shelf (top shelf no less) with MP Starsaber.

Not for everyone. Individually, they aren't as good looking as their animated versions. But design wise, waaaaaaaaaay out there from the "Prime" noseless ka chin faces. More like harkening to their 1990 years like Gaogaigar.

Samurai team (the default combiner with the policecar as the torso), his combiner wrist won't lock to its peg.

His main weapon isn't chromed so very floppy. Very  un TT as it won't poke a kids eye anymore.

There are also issues in keeping them standing up. Personally, Ilike it when the Firetruck takes the role as main torso.

And unless you ordered the first release which included a transluscent crossbow like weapon.

Also look out for the misassembled legs of the jet (Jin-bu iirc)

Shinobi team

Even more worst looking in individual robot mod ( they look like knocked up guys.Pregnant females are a vison of beauty but pregnant guys  But in their combiner form, especially with the lion as the torso, the robot is sooooooo bad @ss looking.

Weapons are a bit harder. Also, if you are OCD, you'd be looking for the first release weapon freebie.

Ex Prime individually is soooo bad@ss. Even in train mode but his dragon (?) mode requires a lot of squinting.

ExPrime as torso connection form and the gestalt mode is soooooo unproportional.

P.S. I still love the set so this is a tough love unbiased view from biased fan of the mold.

Condition for this opinion: bought them all when they were really cheap, $30 or less each with most being $20 or less each.

ExPrime: Yes, he's fun.

The rest of them: I personally really enjoy the red truck one and the purple shark. The red truck one is the only one I universally would recommend to Transformers fans, again mentioning that this is conditional assuming it's still ~$20 or less.

The others are fun transforming robot toys but don't really feel like they're from the Transformers line. I can't recommend them in good faith to Transformers fans specifically. If you're into Brave or Power Rangers or similar franchises, and Transformers, then yes, I recommend them wholeheartedly if they're still cheap.

I can agree with this argument: these were not made with the intention of not enjoying them all as a whole. ExPrime is extra icing but his gestalt sucks, he's a good stand alone. Individual bot modes suffer but I don't feel cheated. TT had a real good trick up their sleeve with this line. It's kind of a shame that it wasn't supported more, because the evolution of this style of TF could be really awesome. It really is just that...I for one love it but your either going to love it or hate it.

Yeah, it looks like that, hence why I have such a hard time making up my mind. No matter how much I pay for these, if I hate them I will regret the purchase.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I find it interesting how no one minds Optimus Exprime much. I find it so odd how he has that blue flap below his chest making him look like his transformation isn't finished yet.
