How do I keep Rodimus from falling off Optimus Maximus' chest?

In the comics, Optimus combines with Rodimus at the end of Combiner Wars. I have the original Combiner wars Optimus. Whenever I try to put Rodimus on Prime's chest, he keeps falling off. I think the pegs are too skinny. Does anyone know how I can get Rodimus to stay on?

That was a common issue with both Optimus and Motormaster. I believe that problem has been fixed with Battle Core Optimus Prime as well as the revised Motormaster, along with the off-position hip ratchets.

I used a few of the clear rubber bands that some figures come with. It worked pretty well for me on Wave 1 Combiners Wars Optimus Prime. I've not tried to attach Rodimus or his mold mates to either Battle Core Optimus Prime or Unite Warriors Motormaster yet, though. I'll have to give that a try tomorrow.

I can confirm UW Motormaster's chest pegs are just as loose for TAV Runabout and Blackjack ( I own both the little buggers)

So Rodimus falling off is normal.

I used toilet paper wrapped around the pegs for the longest time and it held very good.

He does..? :-?

Do you mean Prowl? Rodimus never shows up in Combiner Wars, as he is off doing his space opera tantrums and meteor surfing in More than Meets the Eye!

(Not strictly a response to your question, just felt like jumping in here.)

With both Roddy and Blackjack, I spread a thin layer of crazy glue into the hole (not the split one, the other one) using a toothpick to spread it around as evenly as I can get it in the hole, and let it dry overnight. They both stay nice and tight on Menasor and Ultra Prime no problem now, will never fall off on their own, but still come off easily when I want.

Other people have done stuff like sanding down the nipples they peg onto, but I'm not sure exactly what that entails, as I'm happy with my method.

Fenrir is correct, the issue is normal. However, I present to you this helpful guide:

use an xacto knife and carefully scrape off a bit the plastic on the chest posts of menasor. where it has the little nubs.

I currently use this in purple for Blackjack and yellow for Rodimus. While the adapter part works great on mine to keep them attached, the chest shield part on both copies have pegs that are too thick to fit into the top slots on the cars.

I use a black one of these.

Makes him look a bit more of a transformed chestplate rather than a car randomly parked on his chest. Though a second, slightly shorter one does exist now.

That's an issue I had with my Takara Menasor and Runabout too. Because a parked car on a chest look silly anyway, I did something else. I shove some plastics off Runabout's shoulders, allowing the arms to move more freely. That way, I could do this:

Look much better and it's solid. Runabout is grabbing Menasor's "nipples" with his hands BTW.

Menasor's supposed to have a car randomly parked on his chest. Just now it's a real car that turns into a real robot instead of a little roller drone.

All these alternate connections, might look more pleasing from a certain point of view, but for me personally, Menasor will never look better than with a car parked on his chest.

It should go without saying that you're free to do what you want with your own toy, just my opinion, yadda yadda splort. ;)^

I had this problem and while struggling to get Rodimus to stay on I discovered that the left chest-door thing on Optimus was not as far open as needed to be, holding it open those extra few millimeters was enough to get Rodimus sit securely on those chest pegs.

I don't know if that will help anyone else but it solved the problem for me.

Using the Hb style of posting BJ/Runabout, I used a bit of tranparent decal overruns and taped in in both holes, it still pops out. It's Menasor's/mold short "nipples" that are the problem plus the equally short holes that it latches on. Shaving it will of course damage and loosen it further....cosmetically, also bad.

It looks great on the G1 version, that little roller drone works well as a chest plate. I just think the official way looks a bit daft in the CW version. But as Emgo says, it's good that we've all got options to do it as we want.
