Is the Jetfire with Macross symbol on its wing worth more?

I just noticed some Jetfire toys have a symbol on one of its wing. How many of those were produced? Anyone know the story behind it?

Also is there a "Kellys blue book" for transformers? :)

Yes, they are worth more. They are from the Macross toy line.

They were overstock from when Hasbro bought them from Bandai/Tokatou(Spl?).

There are two versions. One with the UNSpacey enblem (Kite) painted, the other as a sticker. Both are woth more than the reg.

There is a thread expaling it better. I will have to look for it later.

To make a long story short, the first batch of Jetfire's had the Macross "kite" symbol on the wing. When the original company that made Jetfire got bought by Bandai, Takara had to change the wing deco to get rid of the symbol due to a licensing issue with Robotech about to come out in the states. This is also why Jetfire never appeared in the series and why we got Skyfire instead.

How much more are we talking about?

I know a Mint Loose Coniditon Jetfire G1 is roughly $140, how much do the Macross ones go for?

Ideal situation. MISB Bone white, no yellow. $300-500 easy.

How about a loose one? Good condition with all the parts but a damaged box... What is the price range on that?

Thanks in advance,

Everything included, Instruction sheet, stickers, styrofoam, and slightly damaged box = 300+

Stix applied, no styrofoam, and damaged box = up to $300.

Toy alone with stix applied = $200+

Toy yellowed = Up to $200.

enjoying the toy for what it is = Priceless

For everything else there's Mastercard.

Hasbro made the original deal with Matsushiro, a small company who made an initial batch of figures for Hasbro before Bandai bought them. Bandai had to honor the contract so they then sent another small shipment of Matushiro produced figures with a sticker over the Matushiro logo out to Hasbro before beginning their own production of the mold both for Hasbro and the Transformers and for their own Macross:DYRL line.

Takara received only the Bandai produced versions as far as I know.

And because of Macross in Japan and Robotech in the US Jetfire could not appear in the show, though he did appear in toy design in animation for a few short run commercials. A dramatic redesign and rename allowed the big guy to slide into the show a bit after the toy debuted as Skyfire.

Also because of Jetfire being in Transformers we couldn't have the Valkyries in Robotech. By, the by if you ever see a MIB or MISB Jetfire with the tampo printed kite emblem, let me know.

Hey just realized this was my post #316. 316, 3:16 AW HELL YEAH!!! WHAT?????, WHAT????? WHAT????? I'll guestimate that about 3 people reading this got that little tirade. By the by be careful online when looking for Jetfire; a lot of Macross listing on E-bay for any Veritech fighter have "Jetfire" as a search parameter. For the record the mold is of a VF-1S.
