What are the most expensive Transformers toys you've seen? Did you buy them? Were they worth the price?

My top 3 most expensive Transformers toys I've seen,

3. Combiner Wars Devastator $300 AUS (Bought him)
2. Unite Warriors Superion $400 AUS (Not worth it)
1. Masterpiece 10 Optimus Prime Perfect Edition (?) $500 AUS (Maybe worth it)

A friend of mine has probably the rarest things known to the fandom (prototypes and Lucky Draws) but I've never actually seen them with my eyes.

The most expensive.... huh.... I was going to say MP01 Sleep Mode Convoy (800ish) but my own Red BAPE actually trumps that.

Burn told me that Devastator is actually around $200 and $220. I guess I must've really wanted him if I payed for him at retail for more than the normal price.

That's mere child's play. Luck Draw versions can go for 4 digit prices.

Lucky Draw Micron Legend Convoy for instance was has been known to fetch close to 2 grand U.S. (2000) . Granted that was an AFA graded item but still, insanely expensive.

I've never seen a Lucky Draw figure, though.

Including eBay, I once saw an AFA 90~something graded G1 MISB Megatron hit around $30,000 dollars.

Most I've seen in the flesh is a £300 MIB Scorponok

The Botcon dealer room from this year kind of makes it unfair as there was a ton of stuff there to see in person that is rarely seen, if ever.

While a bit overpriced, the $8,000 Unicron of Light comes to mind. As do the carded G2 Protectobot samples at $2,500 a pop, loose protos of G2 Stunticons and Protectobots which I didn't even ask about, and other insanity.

Heck even the Robot Heroes Prowl/Laserbeak and Flame Convoy/Gigatron packs at $275 each were pretty nuts.

Wow, those guys have really escalated in price.
And to think, I balked at a 100 a pop a couple years ago at RICC.

$100 each is a steal on those. I'd have at least grabbed the Prowl/Laserbeak set if the ones at Botcon were that price. I should note the $275 ones were both sold by Sunday.

Probably just a brain fart, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Pics? :saint:

The canceled Robot Heroes set, which included a deformed Prowl and Laserbeak. They were canceled because everyone only wanted RotF sets.

Then why were the only canceled sets not RotF? If they shelfwarmed they would stop making them, right?

Ah, you know what, seems my little joke there was indeed a bit inaccurate! I can't remember if these were in waves intended to go alongside the movie product or shortly after, or if all of the Universe 2.0 branded RH stuff stopped before the movie product's release. Probably not a big deal either way.

shajaki wrote:Oooohhhkay. Are they prototypes or did they actually go into production?
Final production samples. Think of them like many of the canceled G2 toys - got to the point where they had product with final designs and had packaging made to show them off to retailers/at trade shows/etc, but they never hit mass production.

Right? I seem to remember the Robot Heroes selling well during the run of the first movie. The RotF ones though, those where the sets that included vehicle mode Transformers and Shia LeBouf figures. Because people clearly wanted those.

On topic, at C2E2 this year a guy was selling a G1 Overlord complete - he claimed- in a box that looked like it'd been run over by a truck, for $900. That's probably the most expensive I've ever actually seen in person, unless we count those eBay auctions last summer for the G2 Stunticons, which sold for like $25,000.
