Unless I missed it, there was no mention of any Hasbro MP releases this year. Has Hasbro simply abandoned the idea?

I read on tfw that during the q&a someone asked about the masterpiece line and they said there's some stuff in the works but they're having trouble getting the go ahead on the licensed vehicles.

Likely VW North America, getting overly sensitive with Bumblebee.

And probably Wheeljack's sponsor labels may be causing issues.

VW sensitive to having its licensed property being a "war" toy but wouldn't have second thoughts installing a cheating program to get around an air pollution emission test?

They better get off their ivory tower and soon!

We already confirmed that bumblebee is coming out this year.

There will be another figure but we dont know yet. In any case, Hasbro hasnt abandoned the line.

Yeah, I remember those, but I still count it as rumor until official say so comes down, no offense. I was hoping for an official announcement of MP Magnus. That way, if I catch the oreorder in time, I can get the cheaper Hasbro version, and sell my Takara for a pretty penny, like I did with Starscream.

No license is even needed for Magnus. Hasbro should be all over this.

I thought it would be skywarp. Anyways, Hasbro doesnt care at all about its MP line, so you'll probably get a preorder listing before Hasbro comes out with an official statement. And you sure you can sell your Magnus for that amount? Unlike Starscream, Magnus got a second run and is currently still available online. A Hasbro release would just make prices decrease even more on the secondary market. This stuff is only expensive when its no longer available from direct retailers which is not the case with magnus.

Here he is brand new for 130$ at HLJ: http://hlj.com/product/TKT80320/Sci

Ebay is a wonderful thing. You'd be shocked at how many people will pay high auction prices without ever looking at import sites.

I guess I would, as I dont use e-bay much (because of the prices). I guess I am out of my element here, sorry.

As others have said, just working on licenses. Takara has to do it too, why do you think we're in a run with the vans (already got Nissan for the Datsun bros), Hot Rod, Shockwave, and Primal? ;)

Also, Hasbro is very aware of how much of the collector market already imports the MP line. Not a focus for them, just a small-run "extra" piece or two throughout each year's planned lineup right now.

I think Ultra Magnus is a given eventually being that he is very popular and doesn't have any license issues....

Densh does have a point. There is still a high amount of naivety out there. Only in the past couple years have I branched out from eBay and BBTS. Even do a eBay search of MP Ramjet, the prices are hideous. All the while he's still available at BBTS (also for a bad price, but not quite as hideous).

Oh lordy what I used to pay for MP's #-o

Want to know something funny? I bought Shockwave from amiami. It was a perfectly decent price and the shipping fee was close to peanuts (surprisingly). However, it did get caught at customs and I had to pay 40$ more !!!!!!!!!!!! However, when I did the math, it turns out that after all my costs, he ended up the exact same price that BBTS was selling him, before shipping, before taxes, before duty, before everything. So for a canadian, I still saved a ton off what it would have cost if I went with BBTS.

Yup. ebay is indeed hideous! Only things I get there are hard to find G1 accessories, occasional decals and those "Amazon" bonuses like the hypnochip cancelling doohickey of MP WJ.

The rest amiami or hs or hlj. Aside from the occasional custom vampiric prices, MPs aren't really that expensive compared to the local TRU.

We finalyl have confirmation from Hasbro that they are not abandoning Masterpiece:

Q: What reissues or Masterpieces from TakaraTomy are you planning for yourselves to release later?
Ben Montano: We’re not ready to say anything yet but you should expect there will be some Masterpieces later this year. Things like that have licenses and stuff and it’s a little too early for us to be talking about that right now.

I'll believe it when I see it. I just have no faith in Hasbro. Even if they do it, it'll probably just be a repaint of an already released mold. [/negative Nancy]

Let's not forget Mirage. I want an official MP Mirage (if it's of good quality) to go next to my MMC Sphinx.

Takara needs to make MP Mirage before Hasbro can bring it over here and worry about Licenses.

Takara has not even hinted at a possible Mirage yet as far as I know.

Unlike Bumblebee, and Wheeljack, which are already available, and just the Licensing for a North American release has to be worked out.

Why do you want two MP'ish Mirage's? :???:

No probably about it as Hasbro doesn't release new masterpiece molds since that is Taks arena.

I now understand what Ironhidensh was getting at. He is probably referring to stuff like Acid Storm which did come out after thundercracker and before starscream.
