G1 Shockwave head question

I recently acquired an incomplete Galactic Man to fill the role of G1 Shockwave in my collection (same mold, the Toyco Astro Magnum), and the head refuses to stay inside the torso when I tuck it in to transform him. Does the Astro Magnum mold rely on the battery cover to keep the head tabbed in?

I don't know for certain, as I've only held G1 Shockwave once, but I believe his head is kept in his chest by his shoulders being brought in to alt mode, thus covering his head and preventing it from popping out. Kinda like Rumble/Frenzy. Though I could be mistaken.

Well, I sadly don't think that's the case (and I kinda hope it's not). His head trying to pop back out pushes the arms apart slightly.

Thinking about it, I do have the 3rd party WST Shockwave, who does it the way I said. But his arms clip together to stop them getting pushed apart (these wst had minor mods made to them over their G1 originals, so I don't know if the full sized guy has those arm clips).. Maybe the grey barrel piece clips on and that holds the two arms together?

I have a G1 Shockwave. Like Insurgent mentioned, his head is kept in his chest by his shoulders. I have not transformed mine back into gun mode in awhile but if I recall right, the battery pack does not keep the head in. I just tried to transform him back into gun mold and the head on my figure does not like to stay down unfortunately. The arms on the figure did not want to cooperate with me.

Hmm. Judging by that I guess it's a design and materials flaw (No locking tab for the head combined with an excessively strong spring). Probably compounded on mine by the left arm (Which yes, does have a clip on the shoulder) currently being broken at the elbow.
I would guess that the barrel helps keep the arms together.
At any rate, glad to have this cleared up.

You could pop the head section off and take out the spring, then it'll stay down. Stay down FOREVER MWA HA HA!
