Also, I missed your comment on LP Soundwave earlier. It's one of those oddities that I can't actually recommend to anyone, but if you really want it, you'll enjoy it. The biggest thing that bugged me about it was including "Laserbeak" and "Buzzsaw" but it's literally the same toy twice.

Like the YOTG version

Well, if I ever see them for that price I'll probably bite!

True enouugh. It woulda been a better set with four tapes instead of the five they gave us. Instead of two Rumbles and two Beaks, it shoulda been one of each and a Rattybat.

They aren't exactly alike. Just very nearly. LP Soundwave's Buzzsaw and Lazerbeak are 100% the same toy.

I have a G1 Soundwave whose tape door I'm having difficulty repairing properly, a cartoon-colors Rumble, a Buzzsaw with a repro head, a Ravage missing one of his sides and some paws, and two headless Laserbeaks under leg repair.

I've heard that the MP tapes are the same size in altmode as the G1 tapes Is that true? I ask because KO MP Ratbats are cheaper than weaponless original-flavor Ratbats.

It's the first two Transformers who ignored scale

Shattered Glass? More like inverted colours!

Sunder Solarbot doesn't look like he would be a Deceptibot to me...

So now that Titans Return Blaster is out - as well as Rewind and Stripes - what do you guys who have them think of them compared to their original incarnations? And do the G1/Masterpiece/Universe Ravage cassettes fit into TR Blaster well?

Can they be called cassette players now. They hold phones. The mp versions would probably be a bit loose since they are small. You could probably fit 3 or 4 in there

Easier to type than "Cassette/Phone/Tablet"

I'm going to buy them, but I have no official use for them. They're too big for my C/G display and the only ones I think trump previous versions is Eject/Rewind. Which is kinda a shame since I already have the pricey TFCC set. :???:

All that said, I'll at least get the Takara versions and while they have no place in my collection I'm sure they'll be fun. I bought Buzzsaw the other day too, and while it was the one I was least looking forward to, I ended up kinda liking him. Not bad ;)^

I think Soundwave and the cassettes are probably the figures that say G1 to me over all the others. There is so much play value there and I can happily transform them back and forth without getting bored.

MP Laserbeak and Ravage are my favourite though. Laserbeak in particular is a fantastic piece of engineering and looks great perched just about anywhere on a TF display.

I also like the Ravage that came with Classic Hound as it was a cool and unnecessary addition even with his oddly shaped spine. I can't remember if he fits in G1 Soundwave or not but I think he is compatible.

Yeah, he is compatible.

I also love that he came with Hound; it was a wonderful little extra that gave us one extra CHUG figure :D

I have many a Masterpiece, and I still say Laserbeak is one of the best. Cassette to screen accurate robot WITH integrated weapons. Simply outstanding.

That Ravage would have been great if he had shoulder joints :(

Here's a question: If the cassettes weren't turning into, well, cassettes, what should they turn into?

I quite like the IDW idea of them being motorcycles myself. I did have two other ideas though: Soundwave turning into a made-up stealth fighter-bomber and the minions becoming bombs, or perhaps Soundwave being a big scary looking SUV and the minions being briefcases.
