Not much to see here. Pretty sure the "discussion" in question is done. I know, for my part in it, I don't really have more to say.

Anyway... Can I have some? It's buttered, right? And please pass the salt! Image

Yeah, I said my piece too. While I am not sure of my moral stance on lena, all I know is that thanks to Lena I was able to afford toys I thought I would never own with the budget I imposed. And black market or not, these are the real toys and an affordable option for people. And since we dont know the specifics, I wouldnt judge anyone who buys from them :)

Altogether the price was a bit steep, but I've taken advantage of the Club Store's extended sale to go ahead and order four of the BotCon 2014 Dread Pirate Crew sets and one of the BotCon 2015 Waruder sets.

I get paid in a couple of days, so I can recover some of the cost by then.

Sabr, sounds like you're dropping some serious coin on rebuilding your collection. I admire and respect that. You had mentioned something about restitution in one of your first posts, and I hope you get it. Good luck with this.

I'm determined to get back what I lost, but it's not easy. A lot of these items just aren't cheap, so it's a slow going process trying to get them back while also trying to reasonably maintain my finances.

Plus, with the Club going under by the end of the year, I've kinda got a deadline to get back what I can from the Club Store before then. But as I said, these aren't cheap. The current Club Store sale helps a lot, but is also almost over. Gotta be smart about what I go for and when.

Each times a friend proposed to live with me to have a cheaper rent, I ALWAYS refused. Not only to avoid any bullcrap situation like this, but to remain at peace.

BTW, Trump have been mocked by the Left for telling the Story of the Snake at a rally. But man, is it relevant.

You do realize that the point of that story is not to feel sad about the woman for her kindness towards the snake having been returned by the snake's deadly biting her, but is instead to advise caution towards the foolishness of showing kindness and mercy to a malicious, unchanging scoundrel, right?

We know it was a mistake to take him in, and we regret it completely. There's no need to pour salt on the wounds.

In other words,

Anyway, my replacement Dread Pirate Crew sets and Waruder set arrived today, so both of those have been moved to the list of recovered items.

Wow, man, just read your story... I hope you will succeed in your quest to rebuild your collection...
I know I'd be a lot less calm than you seem to be. I'd rage. I'd never want to see him again. Oh boy. The violation of your collection and trust is horrible. Best of luck man!!

I was able to get back some of my figures (and some DVD sets that had also been taken from me), but all of which I had to buy back with my own money

That's awful. Isn't receiving stolen goods a crime itself? You shouldn't have had to buy anything back, your property should have been given back to you as the rightful owner.

You can report the shop owner to the police for buying and selling stolen goods. That's fencing. The shop owner should never have bought them.

I've already been through all the bureaucracy with this case months ago. That's all come and gone. I didn't want to buy back my stuff but there was legally no other way.

Another update. I've finally acquired a MISB replacement Beast Wars Metal X-9 Metals Jaguar. Got it off of eBay with free shipping.

That's one replacement grail down. Still seeking an affordable BotCon 2006 set.

Merry Christmas one and all!

It's been a little over a month since my last re-acquisition update and I've made some progress since then.

During the TCC Black Friday sale, I was able to get replacements of TCC Depth Charge the BotCon 2015 "Cybertron's Most Wanted" boxed set. However, upon opening the latter, the Oilmaster Pretender shell broke on me right out of the package, as one of the hinge joins that connects the shell's backpack to its body sheered clean off of the shell's right shoulder. And a sizable crack had developed on the underside of the shell's right leg when I was fiddling with it with the most minute of force (the leg was bent out of place a bit and I tried to ever so slightly ease it back into place as gently as possible). Thankfully, I got in touch with Fun Pub and was able to send back the broken shell and get a replacement for that one in much better shape.

Also near that time, I found a TCC Side Burn and a TCC G2 Ramjet both for sale from the same seller on Amazon, who happened to also be from my state. But the most surprising thing for me was that the seller was none other than the same guy whom my step-brother had sold my originals to. Small world! When he and I realized who we each were, we got in touch with one another over the phone and he gave me an ever better deal for the two than what he had listed for them on Amazon. Instead of mailing them to me, I went over to his store in the next town over and got'em both in person. Now, these two figures were not the same exact ones that were taken from me (I could tell by some subtle differences in their paint apps), but I'm just glad that I could get these two both locally and for such a good deal.

Finally, for Christmas this year, I got six more replacements as presents:
  • Generations Legends class Optimus Prime & Autobot Roller (Mint On Seal Card)
  • Generations Combiner Wars Deluxe class Offroad (Mint On Sealed Card)
  • e-HOBBY Generations Magnificus (Mint In Sealed Box)
  • Legend Commander Collection LC-03 Lio Convoy (Mint On Sealed Card)
  • TFSS 1.0 Ultra Mammoth (Mint In Box, x2!*)
  • BotCon 2013 Bitstream (Mint In Bag)

* - Yep, through a bit of accidental miscommunication between the family members, I ended up with TWO replacement Ultra Mammoths. Nonetheless, I remain very grateful.

Two Ultra Mammoths? Now that's what I consider lucky. Gonna keep both of them?

Yeah, by complete accident. I had sent out links to auctions on Amazon and eBay in an email for the family to look over, and apparently two separate parties ended up purchasing the same gift for me without the other's knowing. It was an honest mistake, and I've no ill feelings about it.

JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Gonna keep both of them?
For now, yes.

Thinking about this some more, I feel like there was a time, back before all this happened, around when the TFSS 1.0 had finished its run, in which I was considering picking up a second Ultra Mammoth for some reason, but never got around to doing so before they were sold out from the Club Store. And now that I actually have two, I... cannot remember exactly why I wanted to get a second one back then.

I'm sure I had come up with some reason for wanting a another one in addition to my first one (which was in good condition with no need for replacing at the time), but now, as of this typing, I've completely forgotten what that specific reason for my wanting another actually was. :-?

Glad to see you're making progress on reacquiring the shattered pieces. I'm happy for you, plus good job on the Ultra Mammoths!

Just a small update of my having acquired a replacement TFSS G2 Starscream from the Club Store.

Though, unlike my original, this new one does have the widespread wing joint misassembly.

Got back from Pete's Robot Convention, where I was able to get replacements for three (or four) more items:

  • Collectors' Club 2012 Over-Run and Runamuck
  • BotCon 2014 Alpha Trizer
  • TFSS 2015 Serpent O.R.

I could have also gotten a Collectors' Club 2012 Shattered Glass Drift at the con, but I wanted to restraint myself because, at the same time the con was happening, there was an auction on eBay for a complete BotCon 2006 Dawn of Future's Past boxed set that I was trying to win, but sadly I was outbid in the end.

Seeing as how that auction went even higher than the price for the 2006 set that still currently on ToyWiz, as ludicrous as that price is, it's starting to look more and more like paying the ToyWiz price may be my only option at this point, as the 2006 set is only going to get more and more expensive on the aftermarket, with the aforementioned eBay auction being a testament of that.

First of all, these are indeed horrible news. It reminds me when i sold off a lot of rare lego bionicle figures and regretted it later.

However it's good on him that he got put in jail for this act of greed.

Also if the acces hatch isn't that important for your family (unless for a fire exit) then i highly recommend that you take some tools and seal up that hatch or completely replace the ceiing Just in case he ever hopes to get up to old tricks many years later from now. :-|

Best of luck with rebuilding your collection.

We since changed all the locks and gotten restraining orders on him, and he's currently paying me restitution.

As for the hatch, we need that thing. It's the only way we can get up into that attic. 8-}

Glad to hear everything is working fine then.

Was the restraining order permanent or until he has paid for the damages?

Indefinitely.
