I can definitely get behind CW Megatron being more pleasing to look at than MP 05 :D

Just pointing out that CW Megatron is my defenitive #2 favorite Megatron toy ever.

What is my #1 you ask? The G1 original of course! No, really.

I love them both so much and they complement each others so perfectly that owning Hegemon have become irrelevant. I also have no desire to buy any of the THREE 3p "MP Megatrons" nor the Takara MP original.

Haha, its not like I dont own the guy. Megatron is my favourite character too :) (also, I have a soft spot for that MP, when you have him in front of you, there is something imposing about him and he's BIG). As for CW megatron, I like the paint they applied, the working treads, how the missile can fire at 2 levels of telescoping and most of all his headsculpt. There were just some aspects of other Megatron toys that I preffered over the CW one. But he will be back to star in these lists soon enough ;)^

I just found something pretty cool about that Leader Megs, you can position his back kibble to resemble his look in Megatron Origins:

Needs caution tape or the red squigglies, but yeah it does look like him.

Does anyone else think War for Cybertron: Siege Megatron would be on this list if it were made today? While not without its flaws, I think the robot mode is a really solid (both figuratively and literally) depiction of the Decepticon Leader. And while I admit I’m partial to Cybertronian alt-modes, my only complaint for the tank is the lack of a vertical swivel for the barrel (which I rectify by inserting the second part of the cannon upside down). Anyone else really enjoying this figure?

Personally, that Megs is very lacking. The bot is just normal while the tank is uninspired. But the dealbreaker is the fiddly transformation. It's supposed to be simple but things are hard to tab together and everything seem to barely hold for dear life. So far, the best Megatron tanks for me are the Combiner Wars leader, the Armada, and the WFC deluxe.

Let's wait and see what Rise will bring...

Interesting take. I really enjoy the robot mode and don’t think he’s hard to tab together. The backpack piece flopping around when trying to rotate him at the waist is a bit annoying, but I can live with that. Sure, there were a few design flaws, including the ankle tilts and the long fusion cannon peg/flush hand issue, but all things considered, the robot mode always seems to appeal me as an enjoyable figure that evokes the perfect amount of G1 nostalgia while checking most of the boxes for a modern articulated Transformers toy. A top five for me.

SIEGE Megatron is alright, but the fact that his neck plate doesn't tab in makes him a bit iffy. And his deco is a bit bland; I really think foregoing some of the battle damage to use the paint budget on giving him a silver chest would have helped a lot. Still, I find him more appealing than Classics Megatron. He doesn't have the bulky wings, I like his proportions better overall, and his arm cannon is proportioned for his robot mode. People say TR Galvatron has an oversize cannon, but it's got nothing on Classics Megs.

Classics Megs, I don't think he belongs on a "Best Megatron toys" list any more than MP-05 does. And certainly not at the top. At the time of this list being made, I think the Unicron Trilogy Megatrons, the original Beast Wars Ultra-class Megatron, 10th-anniversary Beast Wars Megatron, and Robot Masters Beast Wars Megatron were all more worthy of inclusion. And since this list was made we've had Titans Return Megatron (or was he out at the time?), the Studio Series Megatrons, MP-36 Megatron, MPM-08 Megatron... I'm pretty sure Classics Megs can kiss his spot goodbye.

I'm also thinking it was Cobotron who got him and showed off how awesome he was. Considering he manages to fuse parts of Unicron to him and pulls off 3 pretty good molds with a super sweet car mode, he's also a good consideration.

Still the best Megatron for me. I like how he looks in all three modes, I like the "Trypticon spiced with Unicron's orange" color scheme, I like his weapons, and unlike Kanrabat I think his arms are just fine. The only problem I have with him is balancing him when combined with Nemesis Breaker in Dark Claw Mode.
