I know this item has been around for awhile,
But I was debating about Devastator
With a friend.

His major contention was one bot in particular

Mixmaster
Of Combiner Wars fame
And his super odd
Vehicle mode

Why so weird?
Is it a Cybertronian design?
That's fine...

But...

Why are all the other Constructicons Earth versions of their respective vehicle modes?

That's not cool!

Don't hate him because he's beautiful Anyways, I give Hb/Takara an alibi that it's an update.

All the constructicon vehicles are moddeled after much bigger trucks than the originals and the larger cement mixers are like that. BUT Takara did it so that you can do it the G1 way too. I highlight it in my review of the changes: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... -04/34421/

I don't think the updating itself is the main issue, but the way it's been updated. Put short, it's the orientation that's jarring. We're so used to seeing one style, down to RotF Mixmaster, that the reversed style feels so... foreign. The others have been updated to similarly styled vehicles, but Mixmaster's is so drastically different, it takes immediate notice.

Certainly doesn't help he's not a great toy, with gimpy elbows and no bicep swivels, paper-thin arms and general hollowness/laziness all around. Plus his mixing drum hangs off of his butt and does absolutely NOTHING- it doesn't even spin.

That is some weird formatting in the original post...

What's strange here is that the Movie Constructicons also went for the humongous mining versions of the vehicles yet still ended up with a 'traditional' rear-facing mixer.
