Price Value on set of 5 Vintage Dinobots?

Wondering how much I should pay my friend for his dinobot set. I do not want to swindle him, so I will just pay market price.

His set includes all 5 dinobots, in great condition.
Very little wear, nothing broken, comes with all the swords, missiles, launchers, etc. Includes card bios and decoders.

Missing Boxes and instruction manuals though.

Whats the value on such a set?

Thanks in advance,

ed

You DON'T want to know.

But you did ask, so...I would say a MINIMUM of $80 each, so you are looking at $400 MINIMUM, to be conservative. However, expect Swooop to fetch the higest price, followed very closely by Grimlock, so they could skew the values even more. To be liberal, or more "fair" to your friend, i would say $80 each, but $100 each for Swoop then Grimlock...so $440 or so, if you REALLY like your friend...but if he does not know all of this, he might just faint if you handed him $300 cash for the set...who knows?

But if you want them all...prepare to pay.

No Joke? $80 bucks per good condition dinobot just for its figurine + weapons?

Remember... no box and instruction manual.

Can anyone else confirm this price?

Thanks in advance,

ed

Yes. The molds for most of them are "lost" or destroyed.

just go to eBay, and watch the pirannahs go at it if you doubt me. I have been loking for a C9+ complete Grimlock for ages, but I will NOT pay more than $80 for him.

If you also have the boxes...it gets even uglier.

This is due mostly to the fact that there will NEVER be Takara reissues of the Dinobots. Believe me, if Takara made a reissue set like they did for Predaking (Who I have...and he kicks @$$), I would pay up to $375 for them, GLADLY.

Anyway, with anything, just check eBay...and weep.

Expect that to go up since the news came out of BotCon and all the news/returning fans looking for Transformers.

Ain't that the truth. Sold a few figures that were AFA'ed for $5K.

Some how I lucked out, around 9 months ago I ended up getting all five in separate auctions, complete and with boxes for probably $300 total. All were near mint, complete, and Swoop and Slag still had their bubbles. I'm quite pleased that they won't be reissuing them.

Thanks for all the responses, but how do you guys come out with these figures? Is there an online price guide?

No. We use the average of ebay auctions and sites that sell vintage Transformers.

I appraise houses for a living. Pretty much the same principle. Historical sales. :D

Well just wait for this auction to end and work something out with your friend:

Hope this helps. G1 Snarl rules BTW!

I was just about to tell of that auction when I was looking earlier today...

Going on $300 plus... I expect it will go up at least another $100!

The unofficial guide is out now, but it seems to already be out dated.
