Is updates of toys that kinda suck a good idea ?

Is there such a thing as a toy that has a nice alt mode or appealing robot look tat is great in a comic - but that the toy for it kinda sucks, is there a character that only got a single toy, that wasn't that good but that was still interesting in some way that would be nice to see get another shot.

Like how Dogfight was made by Takara recently.

Here is some suggestions : G2 Meanstreak, G2 Calcar, G2 Ironfist, also the various Actionmasters.

Spinister seems to be one that gets a lot of remakes - but Quake & Needlenose doesn't as much.

Quickmix got a remake in TF Cybertron Scoop did in Generations but Landfill didn't as yet..

So who needs a new mould and for what reasons ?

I would like to see the Mega Pretenders get updates. I dont need them to store a bot inside them but I like the idea of a bigger bot interacting with a smaller bot. Kinda like what G2 Dreadwing did. I think that would be a smart approach to modernizing Mega Pretenders.

I would also like a new Blackarachnia mold and a new Terrorsaur mold with wings that fold/retract.

What about Action Masters? I'm completely sold on giving any number of AM original characters proper updates. Proper Generations versions of Banzai-Tron, Jackpot, Treadshot, Skyfall, and Over-Run would be instant buys for me. Heck, I'd love to see CW Rook retooled into Rollout.

For that matter a lot of their partners would make great Titan Masters with vehicles. Lionizer, Catgut, Top-Heavy, Sights, Scorpulator and many others would be lots of fun, especially if they formed Action Master heads.

Aside from that, all of the Armada remakes have been pretty good and I'd love see more. Maybe they could actually make a good Sideswipe (there's a challenge) or make the Titans Return Sideways we've been asking for.

A lot of Pretenders could do with a decent update but that's a story for another thread...

Armada, as has been mentioned, has tonnes of awesome designs with crappy toys. Hot Shot is actually a cool design IMO, but his original toy is a brick (albeit a brick with a hilarious headsculpt) and the Universe toy is a fiddly mess, or so I'm told. Demolishor/Ironhide and Cyclonus/Sandstorm could do with new toys, as could Scavenger...hell, pretty much the entire catalogue needs updates.

Pretty much any G1 toy could theoretically fit the bill (as even the best G1 toy doesn't hold up so well today) but in particular I'd like to see some of the crazier/late G1/G2 stuff done. A non-exclusive G2 Sideswipe (complete with crazy guns), the Trainbots, pretty much anything made during G1.5 (so Stalker, Skyquake and CLENCH for example). Not of course that any of these are bad toys, they're just dated by today's standards.

Also, as mentioned, Airachnid.

They can use her base mold and make her into Navi-Ko or something. Like that dream sequence by Tigatron in the Legends Universe.

Prime Breakdown. All Hasbro ever released of the guy was a piddly little Legend size. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I'd be satisfied if they even gave us the combiner limb Takara just put out in a set, but I really want a good, big version that does the character justice.

I would love if hasbro just released their version of the Arms Micron voyager takara gave us. I hate the takara release of these toys since they have no paint (only stickers) and they add a ton of holes to plug in the arms micron. A hasbro Breakdown would have been amazing!

Agreed completely. Well, the 5mm ports can stay, but screw stickers. Breakdown needs paint. There is always the Grand Galvatron Zombie Breakdown but that's just Offroad in a new paintjob. Also from everything I hear, with the exception of the stickers, Prime Breakdown is a fantastic toy.

yes, but he is very remeniscent of movie toys. Thats how he felt like when I first transformed him. Very panel oriented with trying to squeeze the robot within panels. And what sucks about the 5mm ports is that they all have a rigde around them making them look super obvious, like slots on a young kids toy. And they are placed all randomly too. Have you ever seen Arms Micron Wheeljack? It looks like he was the victim of a drive by.

Interesting, but not offputting. Thanks for letting me know though.

Oh dear. That does sound kinda crap. A shame, I love 5mm port madness but not when the ports look blatantly awful.

Also, has anybody ever told you your scowling BW Megatron avatar is completely unfitting with your helpful and friendly demeanour?

Arms Micron Jackie is terrible for his lack of paint - however on the plus side he sure does make a great donor body for customs like Exhaust for example.

The Arms Micron toys do have some paint on them Breakdown actually looks perfectly fine with non of his stickers on at all.

I'd be pretty happy getting Breakdown in a Platinum set.

Would be pretty weird having a TFP Platinum set like 3 years after TFP ended, mind...

As I mentioned in another thread, how about Blue Bacchus? The G1 is one of the rarest(I think, never looked into it), and Black Shadow needs his buddy!

CW Ultra Magnus is basically a Mega Pretender if you think about it.

That also begs the question though; how far off of a Pretender was the original Ultra Magnus?

I think this is a great idea. Lord knows there's characters out there that got subpar toys-like half of Armada. ;)
